The Warriors have waived two-way guard Jeff Dowtin, the team announced (via Twitter).
Golden State claimed Dowtin off waivers in October after he was let go by the Magic. The 24-year-old appeared in four games, averaging 1.5 points and 1.8 rebounds in 7.0 minutes per night. He had a much larger role with the team’s G League affiliate in Santa Cruz, putting up averages of 17.7 points, 6.2 rebounds and 5.8 assists in 12 games.
Dowtin also spent time with the G League’s Lakeland Magic after going undrafted out of Rhode Island in 2020. He signed training camp contracts with Orlando the past two years.
There’s no immediate word on what the Warriors plan to do with the open two-way slot.
I think Weatherspoon the hardship signing takes that spot. His 10 days are up and Draymond could exit protocol tomorrow.
Still have 7 Guards on the Roster: Curry, Klay, Poole, Payton, Moody, Lee and Chiozza. Weatherspoon would make it 8 Guards.
Chiozza and Weatherspoon playing ahead of a Lottery pick like Moses Moody lately boggles my Mind.
Meanwhile, if Kevon Looney gets injured before James Wiseman returns, who is playing Center ?
Just sign a Big Man like Harry Giles or MFiondu Kabengele with the open 2-Way Contract.
We enough Guards and Wings already.
Chiozza have had no playing time last 2 games because of his poor defense. i hope they cut him too. They do need a back up for Looney in case of a injury.
Agree totally about Chiozza. His PER this season is, incredibly, 4.5. The average PER is 15.
I dont know for sure, but I don’t think Giles is eligible for a 2-way.
Just looked up the Rules and it says Players with 4 Years or Less NBA experience are Eligible for a 2-Way Contract.
Giles has played 3 years. He did not play his Rookie year due to his knee injury.
I guess it’s how the League interprets that Rookie year of his.
Sekou Doumbouya and MFiondu Kabengele are other young Frontcourt players I like.
Will he get the ring?
It’s completely up to the team when they win if they want him to have it
