Appearing on NBA Today (video link), ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reports that the Bucks have been “aggressive” in their pursuit of Goran Dragic, who reached a buyout agreement with the Spurs on Tuesday.
Dragic has been spending the week speaking to interested teams, and Wojnarowski calls the Bucks the “foremost” team on Dragic’s list. The defending champions find themselves with a hole in the backcourt after trading Donte DiVincenzo to the Kings and losing Pat Connaughton for approximately four weeks after surgery to repair his broken right ring finger.
Milwaukee’s brass, including GM Jon Horst and head coach Mike Budenholzer, has been pitching Dragic on the opportunity to play meaningful minutes and a “pretty significant role,” says Wojnarowski.
However, he notes that the Bulls, Clippers, Nets, and Lakers remain interested in the former All-Star guard. Woj thinks Dragic is getting closer to making a decision on his next team.
Veteran NBA reporter Marc Stein tweets that the Warriors are also in the mix for Dragic, but notably did not include the Lakers on his list of teams vying for Dragic’s services.
Might want to add someone who can guard Embiid…after last night
From the buyout market..?
Wasn’t that one reason they got Iblocka to help with their frontcourt defense and size??
Brook Lopez is expected to come back this year, so that’s their big man addition.
Don’t get cocky
Yeah cause Harden will lock down Giannis.
They could use another big. They’ll get one soon. But Dragic is a great pickup. Especially after losing those players. Robin definitely comes back if ges bought out.
Hasheem Thabeet has been trying to get back. Maybe send him out there
Please no… the locker room dynamic is gonna be so awkward after the bs this guy pulled on K-Midd during last season’s playoff series.
If Dragic signs with any east team that’s not the Miami Heat.. something went drastically wrong. He was going to Heat games and letting himself be seen on TV just the other day lol
He said, literally at that Nets game he was at last week, that “at least they’re calling,” which means the Heat arent, which is what I was saying. They dont have a spot for him right now, and Milwaukee has an obvious fit for him. He also knows the Heat dont have that spot when he pointed at the scoreboard after someone said “We need you to come home, Dragon.”
Hopefully they can bring him back in the offseason. I hope I’m wrong, especially about going to Milwaukee, but I’ve said they’re the most obvious fit, and now they’re reportedly the most aggressive, so it feels inevitable that he is going to play for them the rest of the season
so why didn’t the heat go after Tristan Thompson then mister know it all?
B/c they dont need him at all whatsoever?
your entire theory is they need a big… he’s the best big available right now and has tons of PF experience?
They need a 4, not a big. Maybe a floor spacing big, but 1 isnt available
“They need a 4, not a big”
D’Antoni burner account?
Not sure what that’s supposed to mean…Heat have Bam, Dedmon, Yurtseven, UD, and Morris at the 5. They only have PJ Tucker, Butler, and Strus at the 4. They need another option there
Morris is a stretch 4 not a 5… what are you talking about man? lol… they also want to run lineups with Yurt at the 5 and Bam at the 4 when they play larger teams. I thought you knew what you were talking about brother.
Morris has been useful as a small ball 5 against certain matchups, and really bad at the 4. I dont know why you need it to be said so many times.
Yup. Heat have:
– Lowry
– Herro
– Robinson
– Caleb Martin
– Max Strus
playing reasonably well, plus possibly Oladipo coming back.
Milwaukee has Jrue, Grayson Allen, Pat Conn, George Hill, and the corpse of Wes Matthews.
Dragic could very well close games for Milwaukee in some matchups whereas I’m not sure he cracks the rotation in MIA.
And Pat and George are currently injured.
Something is strange about this whole situation. Just his attitude is off. Why hasn’t he made a decision already? It’s not like he didn’t know this was coming. Not sure who to trust…
My semi educated guess? He badly wants the Heat to offer him a contract and they haven’t yet.
He thinks he’s still an All-Star caliber player and will probably cry if he doesn’t get the playing time he thinks he deserves.
Maybe he just wants some time off.
Dragic to Milwaukee is probably redundant at this point. The PT is there and of course they are the defending champs. Wouldn’t make sense to join the Heat. They have no roster spots. And they have a abundance of guards on their roster who all need PT.
they actually do have a roster spot… but you’re right about the guard log jam… herro and martin would have to play a lot of 3 for Dragic to fit the rotation with Oladipo, Lowry, Vincent, etc etc
So how’s that Hammy?
Dragon hammy been an issue for a while?
Looks like the Heat chose
Jevonte Green
Javonte Green plays for the Bulls and there’s no Jevonte Green
1) it was Javonte Smart 2) He was signed as a 2 way player not to the roster 3) If the choice was him or Dragic.. Dragic would already be signed lol
Bucks need quality depth. Dragic would get meaningful minutes at the 1 or 2 spot.
I know Miami feels like they don’t have a spot for Dragic but he’s a must add in my view just to avoid him strengthen a team like Milwaukee. Besides Lowry, Robinson, Butler, Tucker and Bam, could have a bench of Dragic, Vincent/Dipo, Herro, Martin/Strus, Yurt/Dedmon/Morris at full strength. That is a very deep bench.
Makes sense if you can replace Morris with a better option, which they’re trying to take a look at already with the 10 day deal
What is your strange obsession with twisting what Morris does, degrading his skill and ability, and crapping all over the guy? He was a great fit until Jokic screwed up his neck and from all reports, he’s about to return (he was ironically working out with Dragic a lot recently)… Morris came into the NBA as a big 3, is now high skill stretch 4.. and you make him out to be something like Bol Bol or Tacko Fall lol
I think Bulls and Bucks are best place for Dragic. He helps both
Bulls are okay without him. Lonzo will be back before playoffs and Ayo/White are holding it down. Causo and Lavine will be ready soon enough. Adding Dragic would make a crowd.
Bucks need him most and they obviously know this.
Bulls are still a young team. And not playoff tested. They can use Dragic as much as Bucks. Experience is always worth getting for a playoff push. What do you think DeR brought to team.
Al, I don’t believe that “Bulls are not playoff tested” mentality. DeRozan/Caruso both have playoff experience. We have enough guys to get passed the first round. I kept saying 2nd round since the season started and I firmly believe it. They need some size and shooting in the offseason. I’m just excited that we’re no longer the laughing stock of the East anymore. That distinction belongs to the Detroit or Orlando once again.
Both those guys have brought the experience this yr. But this team has not played in playoffs. Vucevic is also a solid vet. This team has never been in playoffs. Don’t get ahead of yourself. Don’t be fooled by their record. Playoffs are about matchups. It’s not easy to beat the same team 4 times. Bulls look good …….so far.
Cavs could use him, and even if Sexton is re-signed, they could be motivated by keeping him from MIL.
Also… Teams will be targeting CLE nowadays, and Dragic would be more used to dealing with that then Garland, who might give up runs.
Not sure how Levert will be applied.
Cavs are not deep at guard; Pangos to return to Europe.
Dragic could get some assurances from the cavs, and more than the vet minimum.
You just reminded me why I hate the cavs lol… you’re team is playing WAY above their heads… and suddenly you think every FA not only wants to hop on that straw boat? Come on brother lol… you franchise would be looking to leave cleveland right now if you didn’t luck into Lebron James in 2003. The reason he left twice is because NO ONE WANTS TO PLAY THERE… your biggest FA signing in 25 years not named lebron…. was an ancient shaq lol.
