The Pacers will enter the All-Star break without any clarity about starting guard Malcolm Brogdon, who is dealing with a right Achilles injury, writes James Boyd of The Indianapolis Star. Brogdon hasn’t returned since being shut down January 22 for a 10-day rehab program, and he has appeared in just two games since December 21. He had been listed as questionable in the team’s recent injury reports, but was downgraded to out for tonight’s game with the Wizards.
“Obviously it’ll be after the break before he plays,” coach Rick Carlisle said. “He’s continuing to make good progress. The hope is that after the break he can be ready. But nothing’s for sure, so we’ll just hope for the best.”
Brogdon has missed 15 straight games and 32 of the first 60 games of the season. He has been productive when he has played, averaging 18.5 points, 5.9 assists and 5.1 rebounds per night, but his absence has been in a factor in Indiana falling out of the playoff race.
“Right now, this where we are, but with an additional seven or eight days for the break, and I know he’s gonna be continuing to do work through the break, the hope is that coming out of it he could possibly be ready to go,” Carlisle said. “But I’m not saying that that’s gonna happen. We’re just hoping that it could go that way.”
There’s more from the Central Division:
As a Pistons fan I hope they take Chet.
That kid has bust written all over him. Name one 7 footer who weighs less than 200 lbs who has been any good in the NBA.
He will fill out as he ages. KD has put 30 lbs on since being in NBA.
This guy is not KD. Different types of players but the same questions were asked about Durant’s physique when he came in. Make of that what you will.
Watch this guy play though and you see he affects every aspect of the game. He hustles and plays defense on top of his offensive skillset. I’m sold.
A pox on the team that passes up Jabari Smith.
I’m happy with the Pistons most likely landing in the Top 3 this year. Will not be unhappy if they get Paolo or Jabari. I’m just sold on Chet but I’m not a scout and my opinion is not a professional one. Just a longtime observer’s pov.
Brogdons time in Indy is about up. Haliburton is the truth
Not sure Indy can unload Brogdon without attaching an asset or two due to his new extension and injury plagued career.
Wait…Brogdon is still out? I am shocked.
There were a few that criticized Milwaukee for dealing Brogdon when they did. Others pointed out how often he was unavailable and questioned the wisdom of committing to him at that point. Based on the the last couple years it looks like the Bucks made the right call.
If any will still admit they believed trading him was a bad move, they’re currently trying to spin their stance that Milwaukee won’t win a title without him, Giannis won’t re-sign, and Kyrie was right that the Earth is flat.
Brogdan for Randle.
Pacers are giving Tyrese the keys and he will be the point guard. Brogdan can play SG but no need with Duarte and Heild.
Knicks were apparently shopping Randle.
He is still a very very good PF and even tho he’s having an off season compared to last year his numbers are still impressive and he could turn it around on a team he’s less expected to carry.
Randle leads the Knicks in points, assists and rebounds.
Think Pacers would be set well with Haliburton Duarte Randle and Turner as a foundation for a rebuild.
You don’t want Randle.
You don’t want Randle. Be careful what you wish for…
IF you think Smith will be a 3 in the NBA, you select him over Chet and Paolo. Paolo has the lower ceiling of the 3 imo. Chet could be a great stretch 4/5. But he is rail thin. Injury potential would concern me and that’s why I’d go Smith still, but his LT value is hinged on him playing the wing.
Casey might have a point. KO shot lights out against the Celtics last night.
The pistons should sign moses brown for the rest of the year 7″2 could be a dark horse
