The Warriors have issued an injury update on Draymond Green, announcing in a press release that the veteran forward “is making steps in a positive direction and the injury is improving.” Green is dealing with a disc issue in his lower back that has also led to calf pain.
Green has already missed 12 games and it doesn’t appear his return is imminent. According to the Warriors, he’ll be reevaluated again prior to the All-Star break.
That wording is pretty vague, but presumably the team means the reevaluation will occur shortly before the All-Star break rather than anytime in the next week or so. Golden State’s final game before the break is on February 16.
Green is the anchor of Golden State’s defense, so the team will need him back if it wants to make a serious postseason run this spring. In the meantime though, the Warriors are managing to get by without him — they’ll take a six-game winning streak into Tuesday’s contest in San Antonio.
Warriors had lost 6 games out of 9 games span a few days before
We can see how valuable Draymond Green is to the Warriors by watching Golden State play that first week or two green was out.
Klay Thompson’s acclimation is making up a little bit for green’s absence but this rest I see as a blessing in disguise for him. He takes his time, gets everything physically right, and he’ll be fresh for the playoffs.
Thompson will be fresh, the bench is fresh, Otto Porter and Andre Iguodala trade off night in and night out. Warriors looking good for the stretch run especially after buy out season and they pick up an intriguing piece or two.
Lets see how much they continue to ask Draymond to guard Centers when he returns.
We don’t need him re-aggravating his Back injury.
This is why I have been harping on the team to try and find a “Minutes Eater” at the Center spot, to save some wear-and-tear on his body.
Robin Lopez would look good in a Warriors uniform.
Tristan Thompson, Derrick Favors, sh’t anyone taller than 6-Foot-5.
This team will be in a world of hurt if Looney gets Injured before Draymond and Wiseman start playing again. Even Bjelica is having injury woes now.
Ibaka for 2x2nd or Mo Bamba is also an expiring or TAKO !!!
Mitchell Robinson is an Unrestricted Free Agent.
But trading for him is risky since he might be just a 3 Month rental.
Kerr would probably prefer a PO experienced player so Ibaka or TT or Robin Lopez … But definitely want to see TAKO with Dray
