Nets center Nic Claxton feared he would be dealt prior to last week’s deadline, Nick Friedell of ESPN tweets. Claxton termed the days leading up to the trade deadline as a “roller coaster,” but sounds happy to stay in Brooklyn and is looking forward to playing with Ben Simmons, Friedell adds. Claxton returned to action on Monday after injuring his hamstring on February 4.
We have more on the New York teams:
- Nets coach Steve Nash says Simmons “is in a pretty good place mentally” and will be ready to play “when he’s ready physically,” Adam Zagoria of Forbes.com tweets. The Nets’ medical staff will determine the timetable for Simmons’ debut, with speculation that he could suit up after the All-Star break on February 24 against Boston.
- RJ Barrett missed Monday’s game against Oklahoma City but has shed his walking boot, Fred Katz of The Athletic tweets. The Knicks’ guard has now missed three games due to a left ankle sprain.
- Guard Ryan Arcidiacono’s contract with the Knicks is a one-year deal for the minimum and he’ll be a free agent again this summer, Katz reports in another tweet. Arcidiacono inked the rest-of-the-season contract on Sunday.
Steve Nash said the quiet part loud and the loud part quiet.
It’s a MIRACLE !!!!!
Simmons is ready to play in a week or so!
He sure found great doctors.
This is a guy that when you bring your car into the auto wash, be sure to lock your glove compartment when you leave to go into the waiting area.
How very convenient for Simmons that he’s doing great mentally! And who’d of thought, it only took going to an entirely new city and knowing nobody around him for things to start looking up! I hope the 6ers do everything they can to not pay Ben. Everything K Love did for mental health awareness and helping people realize players are people too is thrown away because of this absolute weenie.
Simmons made a JOKE of mental illness. That dude quit on his teammates. Plain and simple after hawks series
He actually quit BEFORE the Hawks series
I love that the fans of the team who pride themselves at losing on purpose to get draft picks to such an extent that the League had to intervene and had the audacity to name it “the Process,” are now talking morals and ethics when one of their former #1 picks just gamed the system to go play with the best player in the league in NYC.
“I learned it from you dad!”
So what do you suggest we do, jump on the bandwagon and cheer for another team, despite living in the Philadelphia area all, or most of our lives? Fans played no part in the way 76ers operated as an organization. Your post is pure trolling nonsense.
and I love that you can pretend that there aren’t multiple teams every season that intentionally try to lose. the only thing the sixers did wrong was be transparent about their intentions.
The Process never happens if the Andrew Bynum trade wasnt such a failure. That’s what sparked everything. They actually attempted to improve the team with a big trade at the time.
You know what happens if you finish 4th or 5th in the division? You don’t make the playoffs and that team before they traded Jrue was a 4th in division type of team. (there were divisions back then not just a conference). But when you finish last not just sort of last, you get a higher draft pick. You get Joel Embiid.
Are the wolves upset they tanked and got Towns?
Spurs tanked and got Duncan.
Former Cavs GM Admits to Tanking to Improve Chances of Drafting LeBron James – Cavaliers Nation.Dec 18, 2018
Seems like they made a smart decision.
Does any of that come close to lying about mental illness? No, so go back to blowing up balloons you clown.
Spurs then went over .500 for like 20 years and won several championships. Sixers have never made it out of the second round.
You think adding Tim Duncan to a team that finished 55-27, 62-20, and 59-23 the years before adding Duncan only made that team better right? They hadn’t won anything until they got another HOF player #1 overall in the draft, but they were finishing atop the West each year before they tanked.
Cavs didn’t win anything with Lebron til he pced out then came back at like 28 or 29.
LeBron went to the finals in year 4, dude you’re a clown. Jordan didn’t make the finals until year 7. Saying they didn’t win anything with LeBron early is just uneducated. He took that scrub squad against the Spurs. He basically took an LA Fitness squad to the Finals.
No one would even talk about the Cavs if Bron never went there. It would be ‘man if the Bulls didn’t have Jordan Cavs would have won one’
Tanking worked for Cleveland.
Still didn’t win anything, which I believe was his point that you just supported.
Lmao exactly @padam
Going to the finals doesn’t mean you won anything bro. I guess you wouldn’t understand as a Philly fan since your team can’t make it out of the second round.
Ben did it the wrong way and exited with his tail between his legs. Sixer fans look forward to his return in a nets uniform.
Steve Nash never know anything about his players but now he knows that Ben is good mentally. Good timing…same timing that Billups had when he talked trash about Melo
OK. Give it up. None of you 76ers fans have anything to say at this point. You are the reason he left… and not with his tail between his legs… he’ll be dancing all the way to the bank.
You scapegoated this player when the entire team lost.
You criticized him when he demanded a trade and now you celebrate Harden who did the same thing.
And you really could care less about his mental state and twist the situation so you can have your 2 minutes of hate every few times a day.
I honestly like watching any NBA team play, I just enjoy the game but now I can’t wait for the 76ers to go down in flames during the play-offs. I pray to the NBA gods it is the Nets that does it.
Only one thing to say. Glad it’s over and we all can move on
Embiid will ask to leave next or, by next season, he’ll have Harden ready to leave thru free agency to another team. Embiid, Harden, and DOC is a bad recipe.
After just watching yet another meltdown by the Knucks it dawned on me that the 1 constant to these repeated late game breakdowns is Thibs. He is clearly lost without Rose and doesn’t seem to know who to play at the end of games. He refuses to play Deuce, anyone know why? At this point Quickley needs a G League stint, why in the world wouldn’t you play McBride some? Tonight he goes with Burks at PG to close the game, again they choke they lose the lead and go to OT. He keeps the same losing lineup and OKC Points Mann and Giddey take the game over. Then when they have a chance to tie he has Quickley take the final shot over Fournier and Grimes when IQ hardly played all game and is ice cold. Thibs is losing the 4th quarter battles over and over.
Impressive game for Giddey tonight
Sans the shooting there’s a little Larry Bird in that kid. Will def be trying to catch some more game action from him down the stretch
I’m so tired of watching this …..
Can’t believe how they talk the same excuses after every winnable gm. So they say.
I was big on Josh Giddey at draft. But was surprised he went that high. Why is it we made a big deal about Ball. Being youngest player to record a triple double. When now that title belongs to Josh. And It wasn’t a Big Deal. He did it to Mavs …….. 1/2/22
“Thunder rookie Josh Giddey becomes youngest player with triple-double in NBA history”
Then last night in NY at The Mecca ….
28 pts, 11 reb, 12 ast in win over Knicks.
If only the Knicks had the Basketballs to trade up for him. That’s how you really find a player you need. You trade up in draft for him. It’s time to start thinking about that for this yr.
“Had the basketballs” good one!
I, as well, wished teams would trade up more aggressively draft night
Can’t tell what holds this back tho, the seller being too stingy or the buyer not pushing hard enough. Prolly both
It’s always been a bit rare, and I think the Luka /Trae situation has made the whole thing a little bit more messy today. Im sure the Kobe situation also had teams uneasy trading a lottery pick as well for awhile
Last year draft was top 10 talent, only Memphis made a push within a trade to get #10 for Giddie or Wagner i think but ended up with a young prospect …
Thibs is lost and needs to be replaced
