LeBron James wants to remain with the Lakers and he and his representatives are not insisting on front office changes, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports.
James’ representative, Klutch Sports CEO Rich Paul, met with Lakers owner Jeanie Buss and VP of basketball operations Rob Pelinka on Tuesday, and expressed LeBron’s desire to remain with the team beyond this season. James is eligible for an extension this offseason.
Paul also stressed that there’s no push from his side for management changes and that there’s shared accountability, as Wojnarowski described it, for the team’s disappointing season.
James and Klutch Sports were reportedly upset with Pelinka for standing pat at the trade deadline.
Paul also spoke to Buss and Pelinka of James’ desire to finish off the season as strong as possible and then seek to upgrade the roster in the offseason.
Paul’s agency also represents Anthony Davis, who is out several weeks due to a foot injury.
James raised a lot of eyebrows with his comments during All-Star weekend that he wouldn’t close the door on a possible return to Cleveland. He also stirred the pot by heaping praise on Thunder general manager Sam Presti for his ability to identify talent.
He will ditch you at the end of the season. His word means nothing. Always with a secret motive and an excuse
It means nothing.
It’s LeBron. Every time he opens up his mouth, in regards to his free agency status, he should have a lie detector test hooked up to him.
He is likely gone. I think Dallas will be a sleeper team. He really loves Luka and how Luka aporoaches the games
*approaches the game and how he’s ascended to superstardom.
@raz
Please name me 1 time he told ANYONE he was staying before FA and then left? Never. He usually stays non committal.
The only blame to go on Pelinka is that he was to weak to tell his superstars no, the fact that westbrook is on the lakers is 100% lebrons fault and if you disagree your wrong and just ok with finding victimhood in situations you create, there is no roster improvement available unless they are willing to give up that 2027 first rounder and even then the improvements will be so limited, he is leaving the lakers in ashes like he has done to every franchise he’s been with
You play for championships, not of those franchises would change a thing.
100% Pelinkas fault. It was his job. But he’s already proven to be worthless at talent evaluation. Which makes sense since he was an agent. M
@parx
players play this game to win. not be the team with the most draft picks or salary cap space. I seriously doubt ANY of the Heat or Cavs have regrets in going all in to win. And btw, the Spurs, one of the best run franchises has sucked the last few years since their star trio have moved on/retired. Same can be said for every dynasty. The Warriors, may be an exception but even so they have $140 mil tied in to 4 players this year and only because of odd circumstances found themselves in a position to draft high last year and in fuse some cheap young talent.
Dammit.
What goes around comes around……
For every article about teams that were constructed well and are playing well – Suns, Bucks, Heat, Bulls, Grizzles, Cavs, Warriors, Sixers, Jazz, etc. – there are a dozen articles about controversy. It’s what the players and media live on.
Since Lebron first was a year or so out of free agency with Cleveland, he seems to delight in holding press conferences every single gameday and telling the media in whatever city he’s in how maybe he’ll play there. That gives local talk show radio a weeks subject matter.
No one I know – including myself – follows the NBA closely during the season anymore. All that matters are the extended playoffs that go on forever. There’s only 3-5 teams that are realistic contenders to get to The Finals. So we wait till the playoffs start; see who’s switched teams; who on the teams are still healthy; and pretty much watch a little of the playoffs until it gets down to 4 teams.
Everything going on until the playoffs is just trash talk posturing. The NBA long ago lost any integrity it once had.
Man, you need to get a life!
Don’t need to follow the NBA, believe me no one will miss you!
I do follow very closely the RS, usually as the play offs progress I go kind of losing my momentum with the season, not by the length of the post season, which is ideal but because there are less teams to follow, as at the end of the day I don’t care which teams wins the championship, it does nothing to me!
BTW this league is way better than when Jordan played, hence why LBJ is the better player, although the GOAT is Bird!
Samuel thinks the NBA will be amazing once LJ leaves.
But it still won’t be good enough for him bc the players will still insist on their rights as adults and contractees.
Go back to bullies & kids if they’ll have you.
Why doesn’t Lebron himself say so? Sounds like he wants deniability.
lebron spent the week back in cleveland and remembered why he moved to la and miami.
Lol !!!! Comment of the day. He sure Backtracked on that, I might go to Cleveland at some point, comment. LOL good one.
In retrospect… Is Buddy Hield, Caruso, and KCP better than Westbrick? Probably. No clue if Caruso still gets injured, but it would have been a better overall team.
Was Buddy worth Kuzma, Montrezel, and a 1st? No not really. Sac would have won that trade.
Lakers are stuck though. Limited options for a Brick trade. They for sure can make a trade, but will prob cost them their last 2 1sts.
Good thing they probably won’t need a first to draft Bronny.
Whichever team has multiple 1sts in 24 probably takes him. I think the OKC and Orlando def do. Sometime have a few potential picks. So he likes Presti. Might as well be buttering him up to pick his kid.
The word of Lebron? It’s worthless
Cause there’s nothing more reassuring than the word of an agent……..
Why is this even a topic ????
WGAF want he thinks or wants. Bron is on his last yrs. Get rid of him now. Lakers window is shut ….. move on
