The Thunder have signed Olivier Sarr to a two-way deal, the team announced in a press release. He previously spent time with the team via two 10-day hardship contracts. He appeared in two games with the Thunder for a total of 14 minutes, averaging 2 points and 2.5 rebounds.
Sarr, who just turned 23 on Sunday, spent four years in college — three with Wake Forest and then his senior season with Kentucky. He went undrafted this past summer after averaging 10.8 points and 5.2 rebounds with the Wildcats.
Sarr has spent the majority of the season with the Thunder’s G League affiliate, the Oklahoma City Blue. Through 23 games with the Blue, he’s averaged 7.7 points, 5.8 rebounds and 1.1 assists in 15.7 minutes per contest.
Both of Oklahoma City’s two-way slots are now filled. The team had one available after promoting Aaron Wiggins to its 15-man roster earlier in the month.
Dope
Is this true? If so Thomas is not happy lol
This is a good signing for the Thunder. He was very good when he played here, but personally, I would much rather have them sign Scotty Hopson to a two-way contract. He is only in his 3rd year so he’s eligible and he is a really good player at 32 yrs old. He did only play in 1 game, but at the time that was more than any of their other replacements at 11 minutes. I really hope Lindy Waters III doesn’t stay very long though. He has played 12 minutes, scored efficiently, but efficiently Is only 5 points on 2/3 shooting. He wasn’t even the best in their G League team and the player(s) they should have signed are Melvin Frazier Jr. who was on the Magic in 2020 and is averaging 18, 3.8, 2, 1.5 on 50% shooting. He is a very athletic wing who can score the ball and deserves another NBA opportunity. The second is DJ Wilson. Wilson was supposed to be a very great NBA player, but I think he could still become that in OKC. With the Blue, he’s averaging 18, 10, 3, 1, and 1 on 53% shooting. He has 4 years of NBA experience but could have his first great year in OKC. Lastly (other than Hopson), I think the most recent “Mr. Irrelevant” should be signed to a two-way. Georgios Kalaitzakis started with Milwaukee this season but was waived to sign Wes Matthews. Kalaitzakis is averaging 10 pts, 3 rbs, 2 assists, and 1 stl. Georgios wasn’t a terrible player on Milwaukee, but he wasn’t meant for a win now team. He signed with the Blue, and should be signing with the big Thunder if they think he has potential
