As Thursday’s trade deadline nears, the Kings have been sending signals that they plan to hang onto forward Harrison Barnes, according to Marc Stein (Twitter link).
Barnes has been a frequent subject of recent trade rumors, with one report earlier today stating that the Kings were still very much open to discussing him. A follow-up report said Sacramento only wanted win-now pieces in any deal involving the veteran forward, since the team still has playoff aspirations.
It seems safe to assume that most teams with interest in Barnes are other contenders or playoff hopefuls — those clubs would likely be more inclined to give up draft picks and young prospects than players who can contribute right away, so it makes sense that the Kings are having a tough time finding a deal they like.
Here are a few more trade rumors from around the NBA:
- The Lakers have been “very reluctant” to give up a future first-round pick in any deadline trade, ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski said today (video link). According to Bill Oram of The Athletic, prior to Tuesday, it seemed the front office’s preference was to wait until the offseason to do anything major, since the team’s 2029 first-round pick will become eligible to be traded at that time — L.A. could theoretically package its ’27 and ’29 first-rounders in the summer. Tuesday’s loss reportedly helped create a greater sense of urgency in the Lakers’ locker room to make a deadline move, so it will be interesting to see how the front office responds.
- The Hornets aren’t shopping forward P.J. Washington, but they’ve been willing to listen to calls about him, according to Jordan Schultz, who reports (via Twitter) that the Heat, Raptors, and Rockets are among the teams with interest in Washington.
- Bulls guard Coby White has been mentioned off and on this season as a possible trade candidate, but he doesn’t sound too concerned about what will happen at the deadline, as K.C. Johnson of NBC Sports Chicago relays. “I think I’ll be here past the deadline,” White said. “I haven’t really been worried about it.”
- According to Johnson, there’s not much buzz right now about the Bulls making a major splash at the deadline. League sources tell Johnson that Chicago seems more interested in a frontcourt addition than acquiring a player like Dennis Schröder. Two of Johnson’s sources said the team’s reported interest in Schröder has been overstated.
LAL should be very reluctant to trade their 2027 1st now (after all, it’s 2022). But that reluctance shouldn’t be because it will deprive them of an opportunity to trade both their 2027 1st and 2029 1st together; as enjoyable as that might be.
If that’s what these bozos are planning, that would be the sweetest plum
they might be able to get a 1st round pick and some depth pieces for Westbrook tomorrow
??? Nobody wants Westbrook’s bad contract.
His contract has negative value. The best use of it is as a means of returning other contracts (and it can match up to 60 mm in return contracts if leveraged across a multi-team deal). BUT, the return contracts will invariably also be bad contracts, but that doesn’t mean the players with those contracts can’t be depth pieces or even starters (in fact, they can be good players, just overpaid in $$ or years).
This is effectively what WSH did in trading him to the LAL. But if they prefer to trade 1st rounders as soon as they are able to do so, who am I to argue?
Westbrook has a $47m opt-in next year. Unless Brodie says “decline”, but c’mon its Brodie. He’s all about Brodie. Which would be a salary reset for some teams, but RW isn’t doing anyone any favors
They would have to give up 2 draft picks to unload Westbrook alone… lmao
Bulls don’t need to make a move, but I don’t see them going past the 2nd rd at best even totally healthy. Delonte is having his Julius Randle year. They’ll come back to earth in 2023. Can’t wait for the unrest…grab ya popcorn and Malort!
Lol bulls are a nice team when fully healthy, no one is even named delonte on the team, you watch tons of games I’m sure
Yeah I do in fact I watched them get their butt cheeks handed to them by the Suns bench just a few days ago.
Not a bad team, lot of talent, just not enough frankly. Where’s the D?
This just in: team playing without its 5 best defenders struggles defensively.
They were one of the best defensive teams in the league when healthy. Get the guys back and they’ll be more than fine on that end.
You are completely correct. The Bulls lost to the Suns by 3 points without Ball, Derrick Jones, Caruso and Patrick Williams.
You didn’t watch the game. It was not close.
Missing players is always tough but at least you’ve got plenty of excuses!
He don’t care about facts …..
WitlessGotalil1 is all about trolling. He thinks he got jokes. Not concerned about ball. All he saw was buttcheeks lol
Delonte? I’m pretty sure that guy isn’t on the Bulls….
Oh you know who I meant!
Even you don’t know who you mean. And noone’s having a randle year
He just dogged Randle on the Knick post.
Dude goes both ways I guess …..
Hey alvin and the chipmunk you never answered my question. Talk your trash somewhere else! It stinks!
Demar deraisin sorry you never had autocorrect problems before.
He is having an excellent year but next will fall back to earth. He won’t be an all star again.
That’s the truth whether you want to hear it or not, bulls fans. Jordan isnt coming back…sorry
And charlotte will drop 100+ on them this evening
WitlessGotalil1 ………. Trolling the Bulls for Rise. Change your shorts lol .
What did I say that is trolling or not true? Their stars play no defense. I said they have talent but they’re not a championship team. Charlotte also a strong offense and will put up points tonight.
If you knew anything about basketball youd be able to wrap your heard around that. Instead you would rather talk about my shorts…interesting
Better check yourself…Bulls dropped a hammer on Charlotte tonight..
Better check yourself. I never said charlotte would win, only that they’d put up 100+. And what was the final score?
No defense. I rest my case.
OMG …….. he got one right.
aka WitlessGotalil1
It’s better to let someone think you are uninformed than to open your mouth and prove it.
Once again he just clowns himself. Yeah too bad Bulls dropped 121 on them. And Delonte also says you Suxx. He dropped 36 just so you remember his name. And stop with the witless humor…….
Haha ha ha Ho Ho Ho hi hi he he Hera ha
Hahaha huhuhuhoho Hugo ha Ho ha haho
I challenge you to get something right.
Haha ha Ho Ho hehe hihohohi ha ha ha
Breathing …….. ha ha ha haha ha
You will remember my name . Say it 36 Times …. Hoho he he ha ha ha ha ha
The clueless always clown themselves lol
Keep trolling lol for our entertainment.
You call me witless, think ur just scared crapless, you’re hapless, i think you need a nap miss.
No cap this is carnivAl clownin but titanic is the only thing ur going down in. My knowledge has u drowning.
Even when I grace you with my presence and lessons you sour doh, poolish, cuz every day I make you look more foolish.
Your takes are useless. Not sure why you do this. I’m number 1 son ur dumb, but you all already knew this.
First of all scoring 100+ is not an achievement, all teams score 100+ on average and the Hornets specifically score 113 points, they are second in scoring…
More importantly the Bulls are without their best 2 defenders.
Ha ha ha ha ha
Ha ha Ho Ho Ho Ho hi Hugo Hugo hi hi
Huhohohu kaughs just keep coming .
WitkessGotalil1 Is your butt jealous of the amount of BS that just came out of your mouth?
Delonte west is back?!?
Bulls should make a move. Need to fill Jones roster spot there are half a dozen guys at the MLE level or less they can swap. Harrell, Bryant, Favors, MB3, Lopez, Kemba, Theis
Lakers are making excuses. They have nothing other
teams falling in love as of now.
Lakers are all-in
Lakers could theoretically package its ’27 and ’29 first-rounders in the summer.
lol
Rockets really want the outside world to tease the lakers by saying that they want Westbrook and a first round pick
Lebron , AD , D12 , Melo . all hurt as expected
Westbrook , Ariza not helping , as expected
Monk very good , as some expected
and that’s this year’s Lakers , no depth as expected
I could see them acquiring a buyout guy like Gary Harris or Dragic. They need defense so guys like Covington, J Richardson, Hart, maybe even E. Gordon. But you gotta pay to play because those are value guys. Lakers have too many defensive and shooting liabilities. I think a good player would be Vanderbilt from Minn. That dude has energy and can play multiple positions.
lakers should hang on to the 1st rounders because in 5 years those will be lottery picks. Unless a miracle happens can’t see them having a bright future. There is nothing they could get with that 1st rounder right now that would make them much better than they are now.
Lebron is gone to any team his son eventually plays for.. if he can stay healthy long enough.. he can still play awesome but misses way too many games now.. age catches up to everyone even if they can still play
I watched the first half of Bucks Lakers game
Lakers defense is scary bad
I don’t know where is the defense
Lakers are likely to miss the playoffs if keep Westbrook
who were you surprised didn’t play good defense ?
they have no defenders
We heard the Kings say the same thing about Haliburton and yet he’s now gone !!
Bulls should keep White and Williams and focus on getting healthy. They seem to be a year ahead of schedule so they should take this time to let the young guys develop. White’s improvement this season has been promising
I agree but they could use another big. Old school 4 would do. They might get one cheap.
Yeah, this is where Patrick Williams being hurt really has left a big hole in the Bulls rotation.
Maybe they get Milsap off the buyout market, and then hopefully they can get Lonzo, Caruso, Ayo, and Williams back all around the same time to really make a push towards the playoffs..
Lonzo, Caruso, and Williams being out has really hurt their team defense and their depth tremendously. They’ve managed to grind and battle their way through all their injuries so far, but they’re going to have to be fully healthy to make any kind of noise in the playoffs..
Millsap sounds good if he gets bought out. Gives depth and helps till Williams comes back. Should be back for playoffs
The Bulls should just stand pat. At this moment the Bulls are missing Ball, Derrick Jones, Caruso and Patrick Williams. It’s possible that all four players can be back in time for the playoffs which don’t begin until April 16. The Bulls were doing so well when at full strength. I realize that the Bulls are a little undersized.
I hope the Barnes rumors are true. Randle has to be involved in that.
Another day to go…..
Fournier, Randle, Kemba for Westy straight up.
Who says no?
Just cut your losses and trade Russ for wall . There isn’t much else we can get for Russ so just do that and hope for the best
I would like that but you can’t give up a first to do it.. maybe a second but they can’t trade anymore 1st rounders Or they will be doormats for decades
Bulls trade Williams, Jones, White and their 2022 1st round pick to Atlanta for John Collins and their 2022 1st round pick (top 10 protected). Bulls trade Bradley & 2026 2nd round pick to LA for D. Jordan. They also sign Paul Millsap for backup PF.
Collins is already signed long term. That makes it easier to say goodbye to Williams. He was undersized to begin with to play PF. Bulls needed the size. Coby is expendable since Dosunmo has already shown he can play at a high level. Bulls had a logjam at guards, one has to go.
PG – Ball, Dosunmo, Green
SG – LaVine, Caruso
SF – DeRozan, Brown
PF – Collins, Millsap
C – Vucevic, D. Jordan, Simonovic
Cook, Thomas & McKinnie round off the 15 man roster.
Millsap & D.Jordan are older but they are an upgrade to what the Bulls have currently at backup PF/C.
Why would ATL let go of a rising star like JC for a collection of garbage from CHI?
One sided deals don’t happen in real life, dude!
