Even with Klay Thompson returning from his two-season absence last month, the Warriors still want first-time All-Star Andrew Wiggins to be aggressive, Ali Thanawalla of NBC Sports Bay Area writes. Wiggins is averaging 18.2 points, 4.3 rebounds and 1.0 steals per game, shooting 49% from the floor.
“Klay’s got this very big … aura about him when he’s on the court and he just finds a way to make his presence felt,” teammate Andre Iguodala said. “And Wiggs is a little more shy. So we had to remind Wiggs we still need you to go out and be on attack. And he’s done a great job of doing that.”
Wiggins’ play is a key reason why the Warriors are 40-13 this season. Golden State is currently on an eight-game win streak, working to stay afloat as Draymond Green rehabs a lower back injury.
There’s more out of the Western Conference:
- Kings guard Tyrese Haliburton finished with 17 assists on Saturday, becoming the youngest player in franchise history (21 years old) to do so, Jason Anderson of the Sacramento Bee notes. Haliburton only recorded four turnovers and also pitched in 13 points. The Kings beat the Thunder 113-103.
- Rockets veterans Christian Wood and Eric Gordon are blocking out the trade rumors ahead of Thursday’s deadline, Jonathan Feigen of the Houston Chronicle writes. Wood and Gordon have been mentioned as possible trade candidates for the Rockets, who own the worst record in the West at 15-37. Wood is due $13.7MM this season, while Gordon will make $18.2MM.
- Pelicans rookie Herbert Jones broke down film on some of his steals with Christian Clark of NOLA.com. Jones, the No. 35 pick in 2021, has become one of the league’s bright young defenders. He’s averaging 1.5 steals in 29.8 minutes per game this season.
Warriors 27 games over .500 is huge overachieved
Lakers 2 games under .500 is huge underachieved.
According to the article
Wiggins’ play is a key reason why the Warriors are 40-13 this season.
Golden State is currently on an eight-game win streak without Draymond Green.

Cool story bro. What does this have anything to do with anything
Sillivan is basically the NBA Riddler. I can only hope he leaves these puzzles as crumbs so that one day the smartest commentator among us may put them all together and reveal a map leading to The Declaration of Independence.
Not a person. Chinese testing a comment-bot to later be used to sow dischord come election time.
I thought so
Wiggins high 3pt% us an outlier. He’s only shooting 67.1% on FTs. IMO, Jordan Poole doesn’t get nearly enough credit. I wanted the Celtics to take him over Romeo Langford. The 2019 draft was the weakest draft in recent years and if Poole can improve on his 3pt%, he’ll wind up , being the best player from thar draft. Yes, Ja Morant is overrated. Moreover, I like Poole over Wiggins because Poole is an excellent FT shooter an has more 3pt attempts per 100 possessions. Those are two areas all great 3pt shooters have in common. Another player who deserves notice is Looney. He’s handled the 5 adequately and is a great rebounder. I mentioned this in another post – no team drafts better than the Warriors.
Poole could improve his 3% if he would just stop chucking a few of the way deep early clock heat check ones where he isnt even that open lols. Its funny because I remember there were several players who had been highly regarded that were slipping at GSW pick KPj was projected higher, and Bol Bol was well thought of. Poole meanwhile was thought of as a guy late in the second who people thought was a reach. They wanted their man and got him. Not loving the Smily pick at this point. Paschall seems like he still may develop and find the right home at some point.
You nearly made a nice post until ‘Ja is overrated’… Jordan Poole is a good player but Morant is approaching greatness.
Did Ja get cold though I thought he was shooting better from 3 than his stats show. That and defense are the biggest holes in his game.
The opposite, he’s getting better
Brightside, I know you mentioned it in another post but I refuted you there and I’ll do it again. Jacob Evans, Alen Smailagic, Jorden Bell?
Kevon Looney was a great pic but he fell into their lap because of his injured hip. He should have been picked way higher if he was healthy.
Jordan Poole has turned out to be a nice pic but his first year he was horrendous. I’ll give them credit for knowing he would put the time in the gym working on his game and go down to the G league and work on his game.
So I would not say that no team drafts better than the Warriors. 1 out of 5 using draft knowledge expertise does not make a very high score.
You may point out this year Jonathan Kumminga but all the Warriors did was pick the guy who fell out of the top six !! Then Moses Moody fell in their lap also because he was projected by many to be anywhere from 8-12 or so.
Really the Warriors wanted Chris Duarte instead of Moses Moody. Moody was a consolation prize. They really didn’t want him. Let’s see how Chris Duarte turns out and you’ll see how good the Warriors draft expertise is. Sure Chris Duarte is a pretty good player and would have been fantastic at 15. Probably score it as a good pic if that’s what eventually happened. Pacers probably caught wind of Warriors intentions and picked him based on Golden State’s analysis LOL.
GSW could have picked Wagner at 7 also but Kuminga should have gone #6 to OKC in my opinion …
i still Wonder what rook Grizz targeted at#10 instead of Ziaire who was kind of consolation pick.
Yes Sebech, true but he’s not good enough to be a superstar the warriors were looking for.., he’s kind of at his ceiling now perhaps? A really good player who is contributing a lot right now. But how much better will he be five years from now?
Whereas Jonathan kuminga could be an All-Star, he is so explosive and amazing yet willing to learn and listen according to Draymond Green. Future looks bright.
Another thing would be where would Franz Wagner get his minutes on this Warriors team? The starting five is set and you have Otto Porter Jr, Andre Iguodala, and Bjelica needing minutes also. A young guy with super promise was the right way to go.
But if the warriors were not fortunate enough to get those three veterans on minimum contracts, then maybe you’d have to pick Franz Wagner and Davion Mitchell types who were ready to go right now.
GSW wanted Giddy at #7 but OKC grabed him right before their pick. So Kuminga was the next best pick at 7.
Yeah true i do remember now … Strange feat anyway maybe a way to tease OKC to pick him @#6 to get Kuminga
Re Giddy
I mean maybe. That also may have been because they thought there was no way Kuminga falls past 6.
Not hitting on late late first round picks, and second rounders isnt as big of an inditement as you might think. Outside of this last year where it was a really deep class and guys fell because of weird covid seasons in college, most drafts dont produce much out of the teens…
Yup true.
Wood to Celtics makes a lot of sense to me. He can play with Williams cause they are both a 4 and a 5. Celtics could use that scoring on post.
They are both 4s and that’s it really especially Williams. 6’8 centers. Lmao Celtics will keep getting man handled
Celtics need another shooter from beyond the arc, not another big.
They need a better facilitator who can set up others with the ball in his hands.
Klay showing why hes a Top-15 player in the league. His 23 mpg is better than Wiggins at 31 mpg.
I expected Herb Jones to become great defender. What I didn’t expect was the kind of shooting night he had recently. If this is a sign of things to come, the Pels would have pulled off a major heist.
Even bad NBA shooters are still pretty good shooters, and everybody gets hot sometimes. Look for progression after an offseason since that is when guys usually work on developing there game.
Except for Ben Simmons
Rat…..Simmons career 56 fg%. What are you smokin
Halliburton should of been in NYC instead of OB1.
