Knicks rookie guard Quentin Grimes practiced on Thursday and could play against Washington on Friday, Marc Berman of the New York Post tweets. Coach Tom Thibodeau said Grimes is “champing at the bit” to suit up after not playing since mid-February due to a subluxation of his right patella.
We have more from the Atlantic Division:
- It’s unlikely Knicks center Nerlens Noel will play again this season, according to Berman. He’s currently sidelined by plantar fasciitis in his left foot, part of a lost season for Noel. The big man, who re-signed with the team on a three-year, $27.7MM contract last summer, has only appeared in 25 games this season due to a variety of ailments and a bout with COVID-19.
- Raptors forward OG Anunoby‘s fractured finger is “getting better every day”, according to coach Nick Nurse, but it’s still not fully healed. Josh Lewenberg of TSN Sports tweets. Anunoby, who has been out since February 16, was limited in practice on Wednesday and won’t play on Friday.
- Derrick White admitted to Sports Illustrated’s Michael Pina that he’s still adjusting to his new team after being traded from San Antonio to the Celtics. White still hasn’t been able to shake a season-long 3-point shooting slump. “I got off to a horrible start this season,” White said. “I’m not super worried about it, just knowing that I’m going to get good looks because there’s going to be a lot of attention on other guys. I’ve just got to step up and knock it down.”
I realize it’s more annoying to have to type out, but I wish people would report the actual contracts for some of the Knicks players. Noel did not sign a 3 year, $27.7 million contract. He signed a 2 year, $18.04 million contract with a $9.68 million team option for the third year.
Ditto with Fournier, Burks, and Rose.
Lets be real here, the only reason you want to have the contracts of, specifically, “some of the Knicks players” spelled out in the long form is because you simply want some of these atrocious contracts given out to atrocious players by an atrocious organization to read/sound better in print. Basically, you just want your Knicks to sound better to the average reader than they actually are. This is some James Dolan-level attempt at propaganda right here, lol.
Couldn’t have said it better myself. We’ll done.
Lmao, wanting them accurately reported is ‘James Dolan-level’ propaganda? Absolutely wild. I’m the first one to trash the Knicks when they deserve it. But be accurate about it. Do you think you’re zinging me by calling the Knicks atrocious or something? The organization has been terrible since Dolan took over and is definitely atrocious, so no argument there. They’re neck-and-neck with the Kings for worst-run franchise in the NBA (and maybe professional sports). I watch this team. I know, bud. I get hassled by KnickerbockerAl on here for being *too negative* against the Knicks, now you’re accusing me of spinning things for Dolan, who I hate.
Let’s be real here, the only reason you *don’t* want them accurately reported is so you can trash them even more. It’s pathetic. There’s already so much to mock, but calling Noel’s deal a 3 year deal is inaccurate. Same with Burks, Rose, and Fournier. And everyone in the comments, you included, gets it wrong every time you trash them. Be accurate.
All of your consternation just proves his point even further.
You are making a big deal over 500k? 9.1 + 9.1 + 9.6. Sad, like the Knicks.
C’mon Thibs – get Grimes in there! Sabotage those lottery odds!
Celtics gave up a lot for White. He needs to turn it around quick.
With this current management, draft picks mean little. That will hurt the Cs in the long run. Josh Richardson sucked. He’s a weak shooter and poor usage guy. Under the current circumstances, this trade improved the team for 1.5 seasons. Three point shooting aside, White is an upgrade off the bench. He’s great on D and can pass. As for 3pt shooting, he’s not afraid to shoot as his attempts per 100 possessions shows. That, and his better than 80% FT indicates that this is merely a slump.
What concerns me about this team is that White is a microcosm of the team in general. The Cs rank 17th in eFG%. Their weak shooting has doomed them in recent years and I don’t see this year being any different.
