“I feel terrible for James,” Kerr said. “I will just keep going back to the fact that he’s 20 years old. He’s got his whole future ahead. We just have to be really, really cautious. We have to do what is best for him long term.”
There’s more from the Pacific Division:
- Lakers star LeBron James passed Karl Malone tonight to move into second place on the career scoring list with a 38-point performance at Washington. He now trails all-time leader Kareem Abdul-Jabbar by 1,440 points. “What an incredible feat. He just attacked tonight,” coach Frank Vogel said. “A signature performance in which he passes one of the greats.” (Twitter link from Ohm Youngmisuk of ESPN)
- Terance Mann‘s versatility has been valuable for the Clippers, per Mirjam Swanson of The Orange County Register. Coach Doc Rivers viewed Mann as a point guard when he came into the league, even though he played shooting guard and small forward in college. Now coach Tyronn Lue uses Mann wherever he fits in best. “We don’t have him do too much,” Lue said. “Just guard the best player, defend and rebound … handle the ball and make plays and attack the basket.”
- Kings guard De’Aaron Fox had his right hand X-rayed because of pain and swelling, tweets James Ham of ESPN 1320. Fox was held out of Friday’s game (Twitter link), but the injury is not expected to be a long-term issue.
Shocking to hear more accounts of Doc Rivers not knowing anything about the players on his own team
The fact that Doc, if he wanted to and managed to stick around the league for awhile, could have a chance at catching Pop’s regular season wins record is absurd. Two completely classes of head coaches.
Of course, there is no comparison between them in the postseason. One is the gold standard, the other is a regular disappointment.
People who pay attention to the NBA and refrain from the koolaid know that, at best, Doc is a mid-tier head coach. Not terrible, but significantly overhyped.
Because he wanted to use him as a point guard vs a shooting guard?
B/c they needed him in the playoffs, as I said at the time, and they didnt use him, and then in a similar situation a year later, they did, and it worked…but more importantly, it’s just 1 example of many players that Rivers has admitted to/there have been accounts of him not knowing their skillsets, and then usually using it as an excuse later. I kind of remember him saying something about Mann specifically too, but maybe it was someone else, since there have been more than there should be
LBJ seems to break records every single game, right?
First ever to get to 30k points, 10k rebounds & 10k assists!!!
Now just getting 2nd leading scorer… next season barring a major injury will see him finally topple Kareem out of the top!!!
Will he be the first ever to the 40k mark?
Always sooo exciting to see The King dominating!
Lebron knows the season is over for the Lakers so why not go all out and pad your stats. Playing almost 40 minutes a game and taking around 30 shots a game. He is going all out for his stats because if playoffs was on his mind he wouldn’t be burning himself out for the playoffs.
Yea, that’s what he’s doing Arc
The lengths you twits will go to is embarrassing
Grow up
@ARC 2… If you wanna talk about a stat padder, I am happy to talk about Stephen Curry or Ja Morant… but I have never seen LBJ stat padding… I mean what a ridiculous concept, dude!
Yous must be a hater, no other way to explain such a bad take!
Sucks for Wiseman. Wasn’t especially high on him coming out of the draft and he may not have been overly impressive in his debut, but no young player should have to go through these kinds of injury struggles.
He certainly has plenty of time to avoid the bust label (although I’m sure some fools have already labeled him as such), but the injury history is getting a tad worrisome. There is still hope moving forward, of course, but I assume he’s done for this season. You can’t throw an inexperienced kid coming off injury into the playoffs. Not that he was set to get much time in the playoffs anyway, but this just about seals the deal on even minimal playing time.
Wiseman will be just fine better than Melonor Ant probably not but his gifted!
Not a Laker fan at all. Not a big Bron guy either. But I am a fan. The points record is an incredible feat. No one ever talks about his scoring. It’s all the other things he does. The gm always looks easier to the great ones. In any sport. We are all privileged to be able to have seen him live. Best all around player ever. And he will get most points record. Just Amazing. Congratulations Bron ……
All hail “The King”
just remember Jabbar didn’t have the 3PT shot. And was a 22 yr old his rookie yr. Otherwise he’d have another 8000 pts easily.
