11:22am: There’s optimism that Curry will be able to return to action by the time the playoffs start in mid-April, sources tell ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski and Ramona Shelburne. Curry is expected to consult with specialists for further evaluation of his injured left foot.
10:41am: Wednesday night’s MRI revealed a sprained ligament in Curry’s left foot, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic (Twitter link), who reports that the All-Star guard will be sidelined indefinitely.
X-rays on the foot were negative, so there’s no fracture, Charania adds.
7:13am: After exiting Wednesday’s loss to Boston in the second quarter due to left foot soreness, Warriors star Stephen Curry underwent an MRI on the foot, writes Kendra Andrews of ESPN.
The Warriors have yet to clarify whether they expect Curry to miss time. As Andrews notes, head coach Steve Kerr simply told reporters after Wednesday night’s game that they’d know more once they get the results of the MRI.
Curry’s injury occurred when he and Celtics guard Marcus Smart battled for a loose ball, with Smart rolling into Curry’s leg when he dove to try to corral it (video link). Kerr, who was seen yelling at Smart, took exception to what he considered a “dangerous” play.
“I thought Marcus dove into Steph, and that’s what I was upset about,” Kerr said, per Andrews. “A lot of respect for Marcus. He’s a hell of a player, a gamer, a competitor. I coached him in the World Cup a few summers ago. We talked after the game and we’re good. But I thought it was a dangerous play.”
Smart said after the game that the contact was unintentional and that he was just trying to “make a play” for his team. Curry’s teammate Draymond Green said Smart’s dive was “maybe unnecessary,” but dismissed the idea that it was a dirty play.
Curry, who initially tried to walk off the injury, eventually exited to the locker room and was ruled questionable to return for the second half. He was subsequently ruled out. We’ll have to wait for the Warriors to reveal the results of the MRI to see whether Curry will miss any additional action for a Golden State squad battling for playoff positioning.
Steph’s ability to overcome the frequent ankle injuries early in his pro career always remind me so much of Floyd Mayweather Jr overcoming his hand injuries early in his pro career. In both instances we could have easily been robbed of seeing all-time greatness & the athletes themselves would’ve missed out on hundreds of millions of $. Hopefully this doesn’t keep Steph out for too long but I def believe that going thru what he went thru with his ankles is gonna help him get thru this as well

Speaking of Steph I got Davidson losing to future Atlanta Hawk Marc Bingham & MSU tmrw night but last time they were a 10seed they did some magical things so I can’t wait to see what happens
Well Hope this injury’s nothing big and if Curry has to sit for a 10days période Kerr could expériment new stuff and find some scoring outside of Steph
Stephanie will be fine come the playoffs. Kerr and Draymond can’t really be mad at Smart for diving for a loose ball it’s part of the game get over it
Little mommy’s boy Melanie will never win a real championship. Playing dirty doesn’t win championships.
Are you referring to Marcus Smart ? I’m not a Celtics fan but they are looking pretty good this year
At this posting, the Celtics are ranked 17th in eFG%. That doesn’t bode well for their title chances.
Warriors were down 7 players and both their all stars and had limited minutes on their DPOY. It took a horrible shooting night for Boston to win. Missing many open 3s. Warriors hit their regular amount of 3s they win.
Marcus can pretend its not a dirty play but you can call it a reckless play or a out of control play. Marcus had no remorse shows you how little he thinks of others more mocking GSW about it. His excuse he didn’t see Curry is pure BS.
IMO Curry set himself up by trying to bend over and pick it up. Smart did what coaches want you to do and he dove after the loose ball. Verdict: Clean play.
Curry already had the ball and Marcus came out of nowhere and took out his legs. Same as a player going up for a shot and landing under him. Watch it and see he threw his body into a player not playing for the ball but to play thug playground ball.
@Arc2, you need to pause the video that’s on Youtube. Smart is completely horizontal with his arms stretched forward and aimed at the ball by the time Curry decides to bring his arms down. Hell, Curry is on his tiptoes with his back perpendicular to the floor which means he reacted much later than Smart. Additionally, there was no way Curry could see Smart other than through his peripheral vision until he slid past. Smart makes the defensive maneuver to slide with his back to Curry to protect himself and control the ball. It’s just unfortunate, but it’s clean.
As for the move at the opposite end of the court nearly 15 seconds later there’s no doubt Smart kicked his leg out at Klay, which is the only thing I’ll call dirty on.
@nosir look how Marcus dove with his back to the play. He saw Curry there and used his back to knock Curry down and take the ball. This is not football. Marcus has a history of anger issues and playing out of control. He should have been kicked out of the game for kicking Thompson. Its the refs fault for letting the game become a street brawl.
Curry is late in reacting to the ball and Smart is pulling a textbook loose ball maneuver.
Street brawl? You would need a safe space if you watched the NBA 30 years ago.
LOL this is ridiculous.
Ive watched it again, You are not only wrong, you are spinning like a top.
You just dont like Marcus Smart
Game is physical. I believe it was Bernard King who said “if you cant bump you cant play in the NBA.”
BTW is Steph gonna complain in the playoffs if this happens? Asking for everyone in the West.
@Arc
he wasn’t angry and he wasn’t playing out of control. he dove for a loose ball. stop whining.
Maybe you should watch the video again. Curry did not have the ball, he had one hand on it then smart had two hands on it as he dove for it. Take your homer glasses off it was just a typical basketball play that ended with injury. If it wasn’t Stephanie and instead not a household name this wouldn’t even be making the news
and you see how marcus used his body to push Curry off the ball. The BS he didn’t see Curry is pure BS. He used his body to take out Curry’s legs on the play. Very obvious. That is why it was a dirty play. You don’t use your body to roll over somebody’s ankles. Just think how many players would go down if it was a legal play.
It doesnt matter if he sees Steph. The ball is loose its on the floor, its anyones ball.
So if Lebron calls the loose ball his, its his? That is your logic?
You are so wrong on this.
Marcus claimed he didn’t see Curry there. So i am calling out Marcus as a liar. Even you admit Marcus knew Curry was there. So you proved Marcus lied to cover up his dirty play.
That is actually not what happened.
Smart touched the ball first and the ball was loose.
So please stop. If you dont like Marcus Smart, great but that was not only a legal and not dirty play, every coach, including Kerr who admitted later, would of praised that play.
Basketball is a physical game, maybe you and Steph should stick to golf.
Boo freakin hoo buddy. It’s a hustle sport. Plays like that are the difference between a 3 year deal and getting cut on your birthday for about 80% of the league. If that was Jordan Pooles ankle you would’ve kept your mouth shut. Ignorance truly is bliss.
Ah yes. Someone diving for a ball must make adjustments because there’s a star in his way! Maybe Steph should’ve shown as much hustle as Smart did
The Boston Celtics couldn’t stop Jordan Poole, unleashed in the 2nd half, after Curry went down. Like Tyler Herro, Poole’s a coming star! If Golden State ever gets healthy & Klay Thompson gets his stride, 1-11 from three, the Warriors may be in the Finals.
I’ve been a fan of Poole since Michigan. That said, can the Warriors afford to give him the rookie max? If so, they will have a strong nucleus of wing players – Poole, Moody, and Kuminga.
I sure hope Marcus smart dives at everyones favorite players legs and takes them out for an extended period of time. Then we’ll see how they feel about it.
Zero reasons for the Grizz not to be 2nd seed now. If they want it it’s theirs for taking
That play epitomizes Steve Kerr’s entire career. He has no room to complain. If the NBA wants to ban diving for balls, I’m all for it but it was not a dangerous or dirty play UNLESS your player gets injured.
There’s diving for loose balls and there’s diving at someone legs while a ball is loose. 12 seconds later smart kicked Klay as well
Stop. Please all of you stop.
So now its not only a illegal play, but he was intending to hurt Klay 12 seconds later…
Stop. Please its embarrassing.
So how does his leg get that high in the air unless he did it on purpose to kick somebody. That is not a normal movement for your legs to turn up at that angle. Marcus Smart is a dirty player. Hope karma bits him back 10 x harder.
Like I keep saying, Steve Kerr will only be able to coach effectively in the NBA, if he has no less than 4 All-Star level players on his team.
Otherwise, wins will be very hard to come by.
Warriors needed to find ways to score without Curry on the floor and keep the #3 seed …
Jordan Poole is the best player from the 2019 draft. I wanted the Celtics to get him but they took Romeo Langford instead. Yes, I take him over Ja Morant anyday.
That’s a joke, right? Jordan Poole has outperformed expectations but literally nobody except you would take him over Morant.
Ok that’s just dumb. Ja is going to the Hall of Fame when he’s done. I’m betting Poole isn’t.
@sdbaseball
HOF already huh? Yeesh.
That…is insane.
We love Poole, but Morant???! I would even trade Curry straight up for Morant… he’s the future of nba!
Sure, you take Poole, ill take Ja, lets see if 10 years if you want to switch that…
Damn it all to he double hockey sticks
