Forward Cam Reddish has been at the Knicks’ training center over the past week and has started basketball activities, including light shooting, Marc Berman of the New York Post reports.
Reddish, who was acquired by the Knicks from Atlanta in January, saw his season end prematurely in early March when he suffered a separated right shoulder. As a former first-round pick entering his fourth season, Reddish is eligible for a rookie scale extension this summer.
In 15 games (14.3 MPG) with the Knicks, Reddish put up modest totals of 6.1 PPG and 1.4 RPG on .415/.258/.906 shooting.
We have more from the Atlantic Division:
- The realistic goal for the Knicks to upgrade their roster is to put the pieces in place to trade for a top-level player, according to John Hollinger of The Athletic. In terms of the draft, if the Knicks don’t move up in the lottery, Hollinger believes they ought to target Australian guard Dyson Daniels. Daniels who played in the G League has a pass-first mentality and the ability to guard multiple positions.
- Celtics center Robert Williams is listed as questionable for Friday’s Game 6 against the Bucks, Jared Weiss tweets. Williams averaged 23.3 MPG in the first three games of the series but sat out the last two games.
- Tyrese Maxey was surprised he slipped to No. 21 in the 2020 draft, the spot where the Sixers snapped him up, as he told Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports. He thought he might go as high as No. 11 to the Spurs. He also thought the Magic at No. 15 and the Heat at No. 20 would take him. “Miami, Orlando and San Antonio. Those were the three teams I thought would draft me,” Maxey said. “When I started slipping, I was upset, but I kept reminding myself that my dream of getting drafted was coming true.”
All that garbage talk by Sixers fans about how they were going to pound the Heat. Now…silence. See ya next year…again!
I’m sure Maxey still wishes the Heat drafted him.
No one said that, you’re delusional. Once Siakam broke Jos face it was basically a forgone conclusion that the season was over. Don’t be so casual.
Ignore him. He’s a troll from MLBTR. His favorite team is the Marlins and they’ve been terrible for going on two decades so he just trashes other people’s teams.
@MarlinsFanBase
Kind of like how you disappeared from talking up the Marlins since they lost 9 out of 10? Oooooo that hurts.
Lol as if anyone could possibly make more jokes about the Marlins than us Marlins fans. If anything, what hurts is you thinking any of us expect more than blowing every game they lead
Cmon man. It’s not their fault Doc Rivers is their coach…well, actually it is, but not their fans fault. Also they’re not the only ones hating on the Heat. That’s where we want to be anyway. Its Heat culture
Or rather MIA still wishes they drafted him, right?
Tom Thibodeau has also been at the Knicks training center over the past week laying down booby traps intended for Reddish.
Oh stop it!
If he was laying booby traps he’d be in one of them.
I had Maxey going 9 to Washington, and was surprised when he was there. He was one of 3 or 4 options for the Heat at 20 I preferred over Achiuwa, who I thought would go 26 to Boston. Actually, Philly has 2 guys I liked for the Heat at that spot, with Paul Reed
Maxey reminded me of a lesser version of Kyle Lowry. When the Heat passed on him in the draft when he was surprisingly there, I thought for sure they’d trade for Lowry, but they waited a year
Good eval at #9, but Maxey fell from that before the draft for shooting and I think, bc he is inflexable in style.
I wanted him for the Knicks bc he would be good for a crowd and had the talent for one-upsmanship. The Knicks did trade down to his eventual range but preferred Quickley it seems.
Not sure Maxey’s list is legit. He may have wanted those teams, but I can’t picture interest from the Spurs or Magic (with PG assets) or Heat (looking at Lowry and needing a big). Thing is he is likely going to mess with a team’s system & style at PG, and did not shoot well enough for SG. That’s why he fell.
He might be more of a solo guy, more confident, than Lowry. Maxey could ignore Riley or Spo, no?
I thought he was a good fit in Washington at the time, especially with their shooters around him, so I didnt think it would be as much of an issue for him, and he had also been showing improvement, and had a shot that could improve, so I liked it for them. I had Avdija falling to the 21 range, and he ended up going to Washington…the Spurs had Vassell fall to them, and I liked him a lot. I had him a lot higher on my board. I thought Orlando would take a guard that could shoot at that spot, and they went with Cole Anthony, who I had much lower on my board, as I had most of the smaller guards…I had Quickley in the area he ended up going, but I thought he would end up with the Lakers as a fit next to LeBron
Maxey was a great pickup at 21. After watching this series and specially last night. I’m convinced Maxey should play the point. Sixers need to work with him over summer. Let Harden walk , no run away. They don’t need him. Sixers are better off with shooters around Embiid.
Coming out of college. The scouting reports I read. All said Maxey could be a PG at next level. He’s got a chance to be a solid 2way PG. I like him a lot. Sixers lucked out with him. Now get away from Harden. 45 million dollar HasBin.
Nothing good happening to NYK. Until they move Randle. Time for Obi1 to take over.
I dont think that’s necessarily a smart move. I think they need shooting around Randle and Barrett and fewer guys that need the ball in their hands. I like their young guards. They need to replace defense they lost on the wing without Bullock, in addition to Reddish, and they could use a floor spacing big that can play next to Randle…that being said, it might be difficult to move a couple of the other guys, so maybe you’re right at this point
They need Randle and Thibs gone.
We just had a season with Fournier leading the league in 3 PT % and a decent PG who is also a great 3 point shooter that Thibs could barely find any minutes for.
The problem isn’t a lack of shooting. It’s the lack of a coach who knows what to do with any of his pieces.
True, but as I said before the season, having too many guys that need the ball in their hands is an issue. I guess you can take that to mean subtracting Randle would then help in that regard, but I think that opens other problems I think might be harder to fix. I do agree about the lineups. They should have played more with Randle at the 5, and Quickley shouldnt be on the floor without at least 1 of Randle, Barrett or Rose
Good luck with that. Randle’s contract is all but unmovable.
Agreed. Randle is going nowhere without the Knicks eating some major assets or taking back an equally bad contract in a change of scenery move. Let the 20 year “rebuild” continue…
