Former Mavericks coach and current Pacers coach Rick Carlisle said in a radio interview with 105.3 The FAN that Luka Doncic is destined for multiple Most Valuable Player awards (hat tip to Callie Caplan of the Dallas Morning News).
“I don’t have any question in my mind that there will be multiple MVPs in his future,” Carlisle said. “There will be championships in his future. He has a real, great, natural sense for the moment.”
We have more on the Mavs:
- Doncic and the Mavericks have advanced their timetables, Tim Cato of The Athletic writes. Doncic has solidified his place as one of the league’s premier players with his playoff dominance and the Mavericks have become a true title contender in the process.
- Spencer Dinwiddie benefited financially from the team advancing to the Western Conference Finals. He collected a $571,427 bonus, ESPN’s Bobby Marks tweets.
- Mavs president of basketball operations and general manager Nico Harrison said it’s not time to get complacent after knocking out the top-seeded Suns from the playoffs, Brad Townsend of the Dallas Morning News writes. “I can sit back and think about it in August. Heck, I want to keep playing,” Harrison said. “This is time to get greedy. It’s not time to be complacent and kind of look back at your accomplishments. This is the time to be focused. When you make it to this point, it’s time to take it to another level.”
I can’t believe Suns lose. I’m really stunned they lost a gm 7 at home. To the Mavs. I mean really………. But to get blown out. At Home. In a gm 7. There is absolutely no answers for this. There’s gotta be something going on. Worse than embarrassing. It’s unprofessional.
I don’t know why Ayton and coach were yawing at each other. Ayton only played 17 mins. This is bad coaching to me. Ayton should have been the main weapon in this series. Mavs don’t have the D to deal with this kind of big. I’m beyond belief here.
I’m a big Ayton guy. Always have been. To me Ayton and Wiseman are the next great centers. I wish Knicks could offer him the max. Suns don’t know what they got.
Unbelievable…… a classic choke
Somebody sitting Courtside said that coach yelled at Ayton and said, “you quit on us.”
I’m sure 17 mins killed their season. If they use him right. This doesn’t go 7. I get emotions are high. Ayton has always been beyond loyal to me. Says something more about the coach if that’s true.
Ayton has been loyal to you? I doubt Ayton knows who you are.
It is not surprising Al. You know less about basketball than you think you do. Face facts. If you were such a basketball genius, you would be on the coaching staffs of any of the teams in the NBA playoffs.
A genius ………
Yeah you got Ayton. I apologize for knowing more than you. But really who doesn’t.
100% I was expecting way bigger from Ayton like a 20 and 20 game or a 30 piece.
Who did the Mavs have to guard him?
Dwight Powell only gets 15 minutes a game, Bertans ain’t doing ish, Boban can try all he likes but we all know we doesn’t last longer than 5 possessions either.
CP3 really showed his age this series. I think the Pelicans must’ve also taken a lot out of him without Booker and with Alvarado sticking to him like glue.
Be interesting to see what the Suns do, if anything, to try improve. No picks in the draft, not much cap space if any. Gotta get more at PF, Crowder is solid and all but he’s not that guy. Bench could also do with a boost. Guest it’s time to atleast start planning for like after CP3 too.
I think the point you just made is that Ayton is not very good. The mavs were mainly guarding him with Kleber/Powell (not sure why you mention boban he only plays blowouts.) Most of the defense on Ayton were switches with smalls and he was still unable to do anything.
Gm1 – 33 mins, 25 pts, 8 reb, .60% FG
(12-20), Suns W 121-114
Gm2 – 18 mins, 9 pts, 3 reb, .50% FG
(3-6), Suns W 129-109
Gm3 – 32 mins, 16 pts, 11 reb, .50% FG
(6-12), Mavs W 103-94
Gm4 – 33 mins, 14 pts, 11reb, .58% FG
(7-12), Mavs W 111-101
Gm5 – 22 mins, 20 pts, 9 reb, .69% FG
(9-13), Suns W 110-80
Gm6 – 30 mins, 21 pts, 11 reb, .625% FG
(10-16), Mavs W 113-86
Gm7 – 17 mins, 5 pts, 4 reb, .40% FG
(2-5), Mavs W 123-90
He took 84 shots in 7 gms. A guy whose FG % is close to 60%. He should take 20-22 shots a gm. It’s that simple. Suns don’t know how to use him. I’m really surprised CP3 didn’t use him.
He attempted 21 FTs, the whole series. That’s insane. He should of gone to line 10 times a gm
Kleber is a good defensive player and has the size (not height) to body up on Ayton. Maxi made it difficult on Ayton.
So I’m not here to tell I told you so……
Even though the children here will only see that. This is for the ones who think they know ball. For the ones who think they are informed. Yet can’t see real talent, or won’t. Worse they go out of their way to trash a player. Just to ACT like they got knowledge ………… Dis4U
Spencer Dinwiddie ………. who’s your daddy
Thibs I hope you are paying attention …….
Al. You haven’t told us anything. Your 7 foot tall centers haven’t produced.
This post is meant for the Dinwiddie haters. They know who they are.
I doubt you ever played this gm. You should look up Ayton stats in this series. You are boring as yell.
That is gotta be the easiest prediction in the league, no doubt Luka will earn various MVP’s & championships… no one that likes hoops can ever doubt that, right?
As I said anyone’s granny can predict that one!
Doncic is not a regular season guy is made for PO moments…
Suns just choked BC cp3 & Booker ain’t playing good enuff and got outplayed by a solid defensive Mavs team
Uhh what? Check his triple doubles at his age and where they already rank all-time. He’s great in the regular season too.
First 4 season of career:
Lebron: points 26.7 ; reb 6.7 ; assists 6.4 ; triple doubles – 10 ; All Star appearances – 3
Luka: points – 26.2 ; reb. – 8.5 ; assists – 7.9 ; triple doubles – 46 ; All Star appearances – 3
You were saying….???
Paul was hurt they are claiming now. He surely did not look 100 percent. But you should not put your hope in someone who is 37 years old. The Suns will not have the best record in the west next season. T
Mavs got 35, 30, & 24 points from three PGs in essence… 89 total or 72%… maybe a higher number in that ridiculous first half lead.
The fourth-leading scorer had 6 points! Suns leading scorer got 12.
The tv announcers kept wondering what was going on, but the best answer was from Gary^^^^^. Ayton only got 17 minutes, but McGee did not get more despite a decent game. Maybe Ayton noticed the guards were getting overwhelmed.
If the Mavs keep Brunson, I would support a Dinwiddie for Randle trade in basis. Dins winds up a 3 for Dallas, and Knicks need some positive leadership.
Weird round in the WC, teams trading solid margins when home until the weird final. Biggest game was GSW winning game 1 by 1 at Memphis… If Memphis wins that, game 7 would have been home. And the retributions started.
Why on earth would the mavs want julius randle lol
Size, rebounding, finishing at the rim.
If all it took was Dinwiddie + fodder, sign me up
He doesn’t seem like a good fit for a team trying to contend. I don’t think he has any value for a team like the mavs. Even thj for Julius feels like a bad fit for mavs. He doesn’t match what they need.
Luka lead his team to the WCF; Paul failed. That’s all that needs to be said!
Chris Paul is way overrated. He is nowhere near as good as Stockton
