Jaden Ivey‘s lack of a mid-range game might give the Pistons some pause if he’s available with No. 5 pick, James Edwards III of The Athletic opines. Keegan Murray may not be flashy but he’s an efficient scorer who be a great option for playmaker Cade Cunningham, according to Edwards, who examines the fit of the options at the No. 5 pick.
We have more from the Central Division:
- Johnny Davis visited the Pacers on Tuesday and Wisconsin’s high-scoring wing was unusually candid about his individual workout, James Boyd of the Indianapolis Star writes. “I just got my (butt) kicked in the defensive drills, so (I need to) definitely pay more attention on that,” Davis said. Davis is one of the options Indiana could consider with the No. 6 overall pick.
- What would it take for the Jazz to trade Rudy Gobert to the Bulls? The Athletic’s Darnell Mayberry and Tony Jones explore that topic and both agree that Patrick Williams and at least one first-rounder would have to be part of a broader package to convince Utah to trade its All-Star center.
- There are 10 players on the Cavaliers’ radar for the No. 14 pick, according to Chris Fedor of the Cleveland Plain Dealer. It’s logical to assume LSU forward Tari Eason is one of them, and Fedor sees Eason as a potential defensive force alongside Evan Mobley and Jarrett Allen.
Complaint: I made a whole scouting report on Eason but lost it using the three bars in the header to reference the draft order. There should be a better return.
There’s a resemblence to Kawhi with similar hands and the Spurs may take him at #9. If not he should be a choice for the Cavs. Quick enough for a 3 or to guard anyone, but more of a 4. Looks like Herbert Jones but would rather drive than shoot. Not a good shot. Long quick steps driving and finishes. Has suddenness.
If the NYK stay at #11, and the draft goes per script (the consensus top 5, plus Mathurin, Sharpe, Daniels and Griffin are gone), then Eason would be my choice. Over Duren or Davis, although the latter wouldn’t disappoint me. Eason does need to prove he can develop as a true wing (vs being a 4), but I’m sure any team that drafts him in the lottery is thinking that way.
Dukies often disappoint and I think Griffin will keep the streak alive… But good shooting means he will always tease.
I have read of disappointing workouts from Sharpe & Davis but I might expect that given their apparent personalities. Still good picks.
Duren=Achuwa… want it, get it
I think we’ve covered this over and over to no real point. If that’s what it takes then Utah can keep him and his salary. Stay in Utah, we don’t need you. His agent must be desperate to keep spreading these rumors. Wonder how much he has to pay Mayberry and Cowley to keep this crap going.
