John Wall is expected to sign with the Clippers once he clears waivers and he’ll be joining a close friend in Los Angeles, Andrew Greif of the Los Angeles Times writes. Paul George formed a strong bond with Wall early in their NBA careers and they’ve both dealt with major injuries.
“He’s somebody I’m always going to root for,” George said during Wall’s first season in Houston. “He’s a brother to me, and I couldn’t be more happy to see him back on the floor and doing what he loves to do, and continuing to make those plays that everyone loves him for.” Wall didn’t get a chance to make those plays last season as he sat out while Houston developed its young backcourt.
We have more from the Pacific Division:
- The Suns officially announced the addition of Patrick Mutombo as an assistant to head coach Monty Williams in a press release. Phoenix’s decision to hire Mutombo was reported two weeks ago. Mutombo joins Phoenix following two seasons as the head coach of the Raptors’ G League affiliate, Raptors 905. The Suns also announced that Randy Ayers will transition from assistant coach to coaching advisor on the team’s staff.
- Kevon Looney and Gary Payton II are considered top tier priorities among the Warriors’ own free agents, according to Dalton Johnson of NBC Sports Bay Area. Johnson breaks down all of the team’s free agents into tiers, with Otto Porter Jr. and Nemanja Bjelica at the second level.
- The Kings decided to exercise their option on Trey Lyles but they could still seek forward depth in free agency. James Ham of the Kings Beat breaks down 12 potential targets, including T.J. Warren and Derrick Jones Jr.
People saying Gary Payton II is a must re-sign are tripping. I love him and definitely do not want to face him. But paying that luxury tax for his contract will be outrageous. Jordan poole is a must imo and even loon to a certain extent. But we have to let moody and kuminga develop. There might be some bumps in the road especially during the regular season but that’s how u get ready for playoff minutes and become battle tested. Payton deserves his money and is a straight up grinder but unless our ownership is willing to cut giant checks to the nba for the next 5-8 years then they are going to have to make tough decisions like letting gp2 walk. As a dubs fan I love ya gp and thank you for what u did for us and come please come back but if you’re going to take the money please go East
While I think Poole is valuable, he has known to disappear on offense and he’s a – on defense. The cost to retain him may be too high. For what hey may ask I would say Payton is a safer bet for his value. His shooting improved and consider his defense along with Wiggins will improve. Also think Klay will get a little better defensively and offensively. If they can’t work out an extension with Poole I could see him being traded. I do believe Payton and Looney will come back
I agree with that but poole is a dribble drive and finish perpetual motion catch and shoot and off the dribble 3pt shooter. Steph was a minus on defense for years and he was non to disappear at times as well. Poole has been learning from and watching Steph work for the past 2 years that evident. If the ownership is banking on a 2 timeline approach than poole is a must. Moody was said to be an “on ball defensive machine” coming into the draft. I think he’ll be able to play a role similar to gp2 sooner than u think and that cost savings might keep this thing going for years to come
I am a kings fan. Name 3 professional sports franchises that are worse than the kings.
“Name 3 professional sports franchises that are worse than the kings.”
I mean, there are 6 current teams (just in the nba) with worse all time winning % than the kings.
Debatable that the marlins, rockies, Padres, Mariners are equal or worse all time, despite a few world series appearances.
Peja, Webber, Divac, Bibby teams were really good. Got beat 2 or 3? years by the eventual champs.
I have one and her name is the lions . Reason two hall of fame players retired early
Kinda depressing with their playoff drought but lots of teams worse than us. Considering the small market, fanbase & limited finances we have, there is alot working against us. Considering not many good players ever want to sign here & play hard. Just sign a contract if they can’t anywhere else, and then just mail in their nightly performances. Players traded here, do the same thing. “ahh, I’m just going to give 50% effort till my contract is up”
Are we talking all time or last 20 years?
I would think it be the last 20 years.
Mariners
Hornets/Bobcats
Lions
Since 2004, the year the hornets moved back to Charlotte, they have a combined 3 playoff wins. Not series wins, games won
