Christian Wood is entering the final year of his contract and the Rockets need to get some value for him or extend him at a reasonable price, according to John Hollinger of The Athletic, who believes it would be prudent to move him if the Rockets can get a decent first-rounder for him, given that they can get a starter-level big man with their lottery pick. If they don’t extend Wood or get a strong trade offer this summer, they can still deal him at the trade deadline, Hollinger adds. Hollinger and Kelly Iko of The Athletic discuss how the Rockets’ offseason might play out.
We have more from the Southwest Division:
- The Rockets brought in several draft prospects this week, Iko tweets. That group includes MarJon Beauchamp (G League Ignite), Kennedy Chandler (Tennessee), Michael Foster Jr. (G League Ignite), Nikola Jovic (Mega) and Kendall Brown (Baylor).
- Dyson Daniels is visiting the Pelicans this weekend, Jake Madison of the New Orleans Times-Picayune tweets. Daniels is currently ranked No. 6 on ESPN’s Best Available list and New Orleans holds the No. 8 pick.
- Speaking of that pick, if the Pelicans decide to move it for a quality veteran, who would such a trade entail? William Guillory of The Athletic breaks down scenarios in which they acquire Deandre Ayton, Joe Harris and Myles Turner in hypothetical deals involving the lottery pick.
The Pelicans would never ever trade the 8th pick DeVonte Graham and nance Jr all for Joe Harris. Harris is not that valuable, maybe just MAYBE they can trade for OG with that package, but Joe Harris is Not worth it
8 th pick seems a little high indeed
They will 100% want to move off Graham tho here SOON
The cap is so so rigid these days and with all the salaries coming up due they can’t have his overlap
Watching Graham and Monk in New Orleans Im just still shocked Graham got 47 mill and Monk 2 mill . Thought Monk was better all along
Masai would never take that package for OG, he loves him and rightfully so lol. Already put in the time and let him develop. Not gonna throw him away for someone else’s garbage.
Rockets next 5 years look bad
One year ago Wood asked for max, it’s different view about value
Rockets have to trade him
Paolo + Jalen Green = RJ + Randle
Same potential same skills
It is hard to make playoffs in the West
6 seed Nuggets
7th seed Wolves
9th seed Clippers
Knicks have been horrible for 20+ years. The rockets were a top 5 team before tilman came in and tore it all down. Asked in the chat the other day when will the rockets be relevant again the answer was in the next 2-3 years. Silly man when will you be relevant? That’s right never you’ll keep talking out your a$$ and be the village idiot around these parts
Sorry to upset you
In 2027, Wolves and Suns are still better than Rockets
Rockets are not comparable to Grizzlies Clippers and Warriors
Future is about value or players trade value
Rockets have traded away their own first round picks
Randle and RJ would be bad in the West in term of playoffs
Banchero has a wildly, wildly different skillset than Julius Randle. Randle is a ball-dominant, undersized 4. Banchero is big enough to guard the 4 but athletic and skilled enough to play on the wing if need be. Banchero CAN handle and create his own shot whereas Randle NEEDS to pound it to create his. Good comp otherwise though!
No player comps perfectly with any other player. Banchero does comp well to 2020-2021 Randle however.
Banchero kind of reminds me of Jabari Parker. For better and for worse
Most likely wood and Gordon will be traded this season. With green and sengun as the base and top 3 player coming in the rockets are right on schedule. Sure next season they probably finish towards the bottom again but then you’re talking green, sengun, top 3 pick this year, and top 10 (most likely) pick next year. That’s a pretty good start considering where they were when James Harden ruined the team (forcing the cp3 for Westbrook trade) then bouncing the very next year
Rockets wait till TD they will get less for Wood. He’s a solid choice for Blazers and Dame. They can go small with him at C. Or go big with Wood at PF. Wood will be more valuable trade chip at draft.
Wood to: Clippers, Hawks, Nets, T-Wolves, Maverick’s, Grizz.
Wood is killing Rockets future
He is supposed to take pay cut to help the Rockets future bit he wants market value contract
If Wood signs 4 year $50 million, Rockets can pack him and another player for better players
If Wood signs $125 million contract,Rockets need to pack 2029 own first pick to trade him away
John Collins $125 million
Wood is a ball stopper. He s
From when I saw him play, he would stop the offense when he touched the ball. Sengun is the future of Rockets center position. They should trade for more assets asap imo
Kings get Wood
Rockets get #4, Holiday and Harkless
This is the terrible internet trade idea
1. Wood is a loser and has expiring contract.
2. Kings are not planning to overpay him, and he will walk for nothing next summer
Sillivan calling anyone a loser is rich.
Rockets future is Green and Banchero. Guaranteed two future all stars. Better pray OKC takes Holmgren. If they take Banchero ???? I trade out of #3 pick. Holmgren is a bad choice for Rockets. Stay away lol.
They can get great value for that #3 pick.
