Warriors star Draymond Green made an impact in Game 4 despite continuing to struggle with his scoring, Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports writes. Green has averaged 4.3 points per game against the defensive-minded Celtics so far in the Finals, scoring only two points on Friday and receiving more criticism from some fans.
What tends to go unnoticed is the impact Green made this season and in Game 4 despite his lackluster scoring. Green recorded nine rebounds, eight assists and four steals in the contest, helping the Warriors save points on the defensive end throughout the game.
When you factor in Green’s assists, he was responsible for roughly 20 points in the game. He averaged 7.5 points, 7.3 rebounds and 7.0 assists per outing this season, and that doesn’t include hockey assists, passes leading to free throws, and more.
Here are some other notes out of Golden State today:
- Head coach Steve Kerr subbed Green out as Boston went on a fourth-quarter run last game, David Aldridge of The Athletic notes. Green was replaced by Kevon Looney at the 7:32 mark. Green, re-inserted with 3:41 left in the game, then made some key plays down the stretch. Aldridge contends that Kerr’s gamble paid off — and when it happens during the NBA Finals, it’s often a matter of trust.
- Stephen Curry showed how championships are won with an electric performance on Friday, Jared Weiss of The Athletic writes. Curry finished with 43 points, 10 rebounds and four assists, helping the Warriors avoid a 3-1 deficit. The team now has home court advantage in a best-of-three series.
- Rookie forward Jonathan Kuminga is a risky option against these Celtics, but it may be necessary down the stretch, Tim Kawakami of The Athletic writes. Kawakami’s article was published before Golden State’s Game 4 win, but Kuminga could still be used before the series ends.
Warriors D really locked up that last 7 mins
Was tough for Bos to even get a shot off, Jaylen looks like he lost his legs in that 4 Q
Refs let um play the whole game and GSW was correct in walloping anyone driving the lane as whistles were being swallowed. Hat tip
Andrew Wiggins with the clean, hard foul on Horford’s breakaway set the tone for the fourth quarter. That’s how it’s done, Dillon Brooks!
Tatum got away with so many fouls. Like the both hand foul on Belises and the push in the back on Curry 3 pt shot but it turned out to be a good thing because if he went to the bench for 5 fouls his replacement may have shot the lights out. I call that karma for the non-calls Celtics got.
Celtics play stupid ball down the stretch, they have shooters chucking up 3’s who should be waiting for a good shot in the paint… Marcus Smart is not playing Smart, Horford also. They almost blew game 7 against the Heat in ECF, if Jimmy hits the 3….They can play with the lead… Can’t give Warriors an opening, they’ll take it…Warriors have 2 out of 3 at home. Don’t want to hear Celtics don’t lose 2 in a row in playoffs… Curry, Klay are assassins when they get it going, Wiggins playing well, Poole showing signs of life… Draymond is the wild card… Warriors have that pedigree….
Gotta tip your hat to the GSW D tho, they were stifling, running off shooters and recovering well and somehow still rebounding well….that was pure heart/hustle from a team that knew anything less than 150% wouldn’t do
Seems like Bos could counter by running a high post with Horford or Time Lord (preferably Al as he’s the better passer) . Middle of the post is left open to facilitate/ Jaylen and Tatum could run more offense off the elbow as well
Agree tho it was too 2 dimensional, chuck or drive hard w a lotta contact being involved- They have counters in the hat tho imo. Fantastic series so far
Draymond is never going to put up great numbers. But, his influence on the other players is undeniable. The young guys listen to him, and they get better.
Draymond value was $30 million
Today
Draymond value is $10 million
I want to trade Draymond and Wiseman for Zion and picks
NO is not trading Zion. Giving up Draymond and Wiseman is creating to many holes in the Warriors roster. It is $50 million deficit for the Warriors.
Ask KD about it
Huh? Why? Brooklyn probably needs more than Zion. I doubt KD will see another Finals.
Curry had a great gm. Celtics still haven’t learned to play him 90 ft. Specially when he’s on. Payed the price this time. He’s Warriors MVP. Wiggins has been solid both ways.
I think Kuminga can help. He can help guard Tatum n Brown. Kerr should use him, use his depth.
Warriors out rebounded Celtics 56 to 42. Big stat there.
Curry ?? HA !!
Too bad you didn’t get a chance to see what Jonny Flynn would have done.
This is David K–A–H–NNNNNNNNNNN!!
Good fair comments tonite….
