After finishing the 2021/22 season in Orlando, Ignas Brazdeikis remains on the free agent market and he’s drawing interest from two EuroLeague teams, according to Donatas Urbonas of BasketNews.com.
Baskonia Vitoria-Gasteiz and Zalgiris Kaunas are the teams pursuing Brazdeikis, though he’d prefer to stay in the NBA. Both Zalgiris and Baskonia are desperately looking for a perimeter player, according to Urbonas. Baskonia is trying to replace Simone Fontecchio, who is signing a two-year deal with the Jazz. Brazdeikis appeared in 42 games with the Magic last season.
We have more from the basketball world:
- Former NBA forward Donta Hall has signed a three-year extension with AS Monaco, the team announced in a press release. Hall’s last NBA action came during the 2020/21 campaign, when he played 13 games with Orlando.
- James Harden is a bargain? If he takes a pay cut and signs a two-year contract worth approximately $68MM with the Sixers, he’d rank as the best free agent value this offseason, Keith Smith writes in a Spotrac article. Keldon Johnson‘s four-year, $80MM extension with the Spurs and Kevon Looney‘s three-year, $25.5MM deal with the Warriors are also among the summer’s most team-friendly deals, in Smith’s estimation.
- There were some eye-popping performances and some clunkers in the final Summer League games played over the weekend. Ethan Fuller of Basketball News takes a look at the “Studs,” including Kenneth Lofton Jr.’s 27-point, 12-rebound performance for the Grizzlies, and “Duds” from those contests.
Based on metrics, Looney is a great bargain at 3/25. 6.8 WS tied with Adams more than Gafford and Vucevic.
GPII, Bruce Brown and even Divencenzo all got robbed.
Marvin Fing Bagley Jr 13 million, this stuff makes no sense.
I liked Beaz coming out of Michigan. I thought his ex coach and then Cavs head coach Beilein would draft him but they went with Windier and Porter Jr, which I can’t be mad at.
You’re not mad at them for drafting Windler, who has not worked out and has constantly had the injury bug, and KPJ, who had locker room issues and ended up being traded for a future 2nd?
@Shai
I liked both players. Just because things didn’t go right doesn’t mean it wasn’t a justified pick. Sure you can look back in retrospect and critique but that’s not how life works. Windler can’t stay healthy and Porter Jr had maturity issues. I still think Koby was wrong in trading him and trading him for nothing.
I wonder how much weight Lofton Jr would have to lose to be effective in the NBA. He’s fast for his size but as a big guy myself it takes a lot of endurance running back and forth and having to go vertical. I hope he can slim down some and have an nba career long enough to get those benefits.
Just losing 15-25 pounds would be pretty significant for him, in my opinion
Lofton got a bag of trucks
Will need motor and lots of defense effort at next level
But cool.and calm w the ball
And def
Out played LaRavia and Roddy!
Brazdeikis is pretty skilled at the 4, and can space the floor. I liked him in summer league in his rookie year. He plays surprisingly hard. I had originally thought he might have a shot to be slightly below-relatively adequate defensively on the right roster, but we havent seen it yet
