A potential Donovan Mitchell trade could be an “extended process” rather than an imminent event, ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski said on NBA Today (video link).
Utah is “talking throughout the league,” but there are not everyday negotiations going on involving the All-Star guard, according to Wojnarowski, who says the Jazz have “time on their side” due to Mitchell being signed through the 2025/26 season (including a player option in the final year).
Utah exec Danny Ainge has a reputation of waiting teams out to get the best possible trade package. “I think it’s going to be the same thing with Donovan Mitchell,” Wojnarowski said, though he added that the Knicks are a “motivated suitor.”
We have more on the Mitchell trade front:
- According to Andy Larsen of the Salt Lake Tribune, the notion that the Jazz were not open to offers for Mitchell prior to this week is a false narrative. They had discussed Mitchell trades before Rudy Gobert was dealt to the Timberwolves.
- ESPN’s Insiders look at five potential Mitchell deals involving the Knicks, Heat, Raptors, Thunder and a four-way swap. Responding to ESPN’s proposed trades, Larsen tweets that the proposed packages from New York, Miami, Toronto, and Oklahoma City would all fall short of what the Jazz are seeking. ESPN’s hypothetical four-team deal involving Kevin Durant, Ben Simmons, and Deandre Ayton might’ve appealed most to Utah, according to Larsen, but it’s no longer an option now that Ayton is back under contract with Phoenix.
- With the Knicks apparently ready to give up a boatload of assets for Mitchell, Howie Kussoy of the New York Post looks at past deals for star players that failed to turn the fortunes of the franchise.
- Dealing Mitchell would be the best thing for the Jazz, Sarah Todd of the Deseret News opines. After dealing Gobert, the Jazz would have to give up numerous assets in trades just to remain in the playoff picture if they retain Mitchell.
- A group of ESPN analysts explored some potential trade packages for Mitchell on NBA Today (video link).
Denver makes sense to me. A package based around Michael Porter and Aaron Gordon plus picks.
Why they have Murray ……
Nuggets are in luxury tax land $18 million
they can dump salary to Jazz.
Nets have $91 million luxury tax to pay
Lakers have $32 million luxury tax to pay
Both of them need to dump luxury tax to third team for Irving deal
They’ve had their fill of non-defensive guards. Despite MPJ’s injury history that’s way too much to give up.
Fans need to understand this
Durant trade requirement
1 current all-star
1 rising star
6 Future Firsts
Suns offer 4 players and 2 Firsts for Durant
Cam Johnson
Crowder
Saric
Shamet
Heat offer
Herro, Lowry, Robinson and 2 Firsts
Who has a better offer?
Suns dump Shamet salary to Nets
Heat dump Lowry and Robinson salary to Nets
I actually wouldn’t mind this for Utah at all. MPJ is probably the best player they could get in return for Donovan, despite his injury history.
I would also look to the Nets for a potential Ben Simmons + picks swap for D Mitch.
Both those packages appeal more to me than any potential Knicks package, barring the Knicks being willing to send Utah 6 FRPs plus 3 pick swaps.
If the Knicks aren’t willing to part with that type of draft compensation, then their package really doesn’t stand a chance, IMHO. Let’s see what Danny decides to do here.
Rudy was a big surprise to me. That Tpuppies went for it. Took big ones. But I don’t see the fit. I am not a big fan of small ball. But twin towers is definitely over. I mean your top three players where two Centers are two of those. Not working today. I have always said Noel is great alongside KAT. Cause he rebounds guard the basket and plays D. Those two could work nicely cause Noel can guard the perimeter. Wouldn’t cost anything.
Did Minny NOT watch Embiid and Horford. Half this board had Horford finished as a player. Cause of the bad chemistry. And what happened in Philly. Unless they are moving KAT. TPuppies are still the puppies …….
Minny didn’t give up any players. Only picks imo.
•Malik Beasley — rotation player
• Patrick Beverley – has been
• Leandro Bolmaro – maybe a rotation player
• Walker Kessler (No. 22 pick in 2022 Draft) nice player. Not very physical for a center.
• Jarred Vanderbilt – ????
• 2023 first-round pick – late 1st rd
• 2025 first-round pick – late 1st rd
• 2026 pick swap
• 2027 first-round pick – could pay off
• 2029 first-round pick – could pay off
It’s a little much for Rudy. 4 picks would have. Been enough …….
So now Danny thinks he’s going to fleece the Knicks. Since we are Dying to win and change the culture in NY.
First off the players we can provide are much better than the crew they got from Minny.
Grimes and Quickley are better than any of those players. Not giving up RJ, not giving up Toppin. Hold your cards Rose. Danny will fold soon enough. Mitchell wants NY. He’s done in Utah.
I’d rather wait till Jan 15. When more good players will be available.
@Knicks
Cavs had a 40+ win season using three 7ftrs. It took them from 25th in defense to 7th in 1 year. Just depends on how well they compliment each other.
Yeah and what excatly did they win.
I said two of your top three players on team. I guess I have to explain that.
Means top three paid. How will you have a TEAM if your money is in twin Towers.
Mobley is not due for real money yet. I promise you when he is Allen will be gone. Dude you don’t have two top centers. KAT and Rudy are All Star Centers. It’s not about complement today. You don’t need to invest there. You only need one great Center is my point. You can still use two bigs. You just don’t spend half the cap on both of them.
There have never been successful twin towers to begin with. Only Duncan and Robinson ….. the reason they went that way. Cause it was only way to beat Shaq and Lakers. Call me when Cavs actually get to East Finals with these bigs.
2 hot shooting wings on a team in the playoffs can cook MN twin towers quickly in the playoffs. Not fast enough, not quick enough. Rudy may have to be sitting on bench certain times in playoffs. Regular season ok, it’s the playoffs…. HEY, MN has new BASKETBALL EVP of operations, Connelly, new ownership in AROD & LORE, who wanted to make a splash… HEY AROD, METS GOT STUCK WITH 5 yrs OF CANO CONTRACT( not counting suspensions) because OF NEW GM COMING IN WHO WANTED YO MAKE A SPLASH… AINGE ABSOLUTELY STOLE & WON THIS DEAL..HEY AINGE WANTED OFF OF RUDY’S CONTRACT… GOT OFF OF THAT CONTRACT AND GOT A HAUL!
Like I said to put all that money in two centers. Is not wise. It’s true in playoffs they will have to sit one.
Are you just assuming the other 3 guys don’t play defense or saying it wouldn’t matter?
Cano vs Gobert ? That’s weak.
Ainge did win the deal but the Wolves wanted to overpay in exchange for closing a deal now instead of going through bidding wars like the Knicks with Mitchell.
I think they’ve locked themselves into the playoffs for the next 4 years at least so the picks they traded aren’t a problem. Would you wait to draft and develop the next piece if you had Towns & Ant?
How many top players are willing to play in Minn?
BTW – I get that you have strong feelings. All caps doesn’t make it easier to read, provide the emphasis you’re looking for and is a sign of immaturity &/or instability.
I’m a basketball fan, like everyone who is a fan of this website. Good coaches exploit match ups, that’s all I’m saying. Everything is situationally, depending on match ups, twin towers work in certain situations, exploited in others. Hey, it’s the middle of the summer, we’re talking hoops. I love it! Enjoy your Summer!…
T-wolves will make match up toughs but a good shooting team can beat them. Its all about adjustments in the playoffs and finals. That is why Kerr is a great coach he adjust his lineups to look for weakness on the other team.
I can’t see Rudy and KAT as a dominant force. This is not Duncan and Robinson. These were two of smartest centers ever. They had each others back. Plus chemistry wise it was a great mix. Just don’t see it with Minnys two. Rudy is a great Center. But he is not for everyone. You have to build a team around him. To get best of him like Utah did. He is not worth that money to Minny.
@Knick
He’s the best defensive center in the game and now he’s playing with one of three best offensive players in the game along with Edwards and Russell. That’s a pretty good core.
There is no way that KAT is ‘one of the three best offensive players in the game’.
Wolves are still very deep
Towns is not good enough.
Russ is an average player
Hear me out on this. As far as “twin towers” go we’ve never seen the defensive presence that Gobert brings paired with the undoubtably elite 3 point shooting ability of KAT. If Edwards can take more efficient shots and deliver the same slashing clinic he put on last year I think this team has potential. D Lo is a big question mark but he should get open shots as the 3rd guy with more spacing.
Don’t like that they gave away Vanderbilt and I definitely don’t like that they mortgaged their future on an experiment but I also understand that Minnesota isn’t exactly a free agent destination and it behooves ownership to get Edwards to buy all the way in. All said I for one am excited to watch Wolves games, which is new for me.
Offensively the two can have good mins. It’s on D where they will be exposed. Plus to me I’d like to see KAT post more on O. That’s not happening with Rudy there. KAT is a good shooter. But as a 4 he will have a better defender on him. Imo I just don’t see a good mix here. This money can be better spent in other areas. You spend Rudy’s 40 mill wisely. Then Minny could be a contender …… just don’t see it with these two.
@Knicks
Well…. they’ve only been together for one season dude. What they did accomplish with three 7fters is move the team from 25th in OppPpg to 7th overall and imo were three key reasons the team doubled their wins from 22 to 44. They also combined for 46 ppg, 25 rebounds and 3.5 blocked shots. That’s a good foundation to build around.
Mobley, Allen, and who ????
Tako played 11 gms, 5.4 mins
Brown played 14 gms, 12.6 mins
Kornet played 12 gms, 7.1 mins
Please don’t out yourself and bring up Lauri.
Mobley 3.7 DWS, 107 DfRtg
Allen 3.0 DWS, 106 DfRtg
Markkanen 2.3, 110 DfRtg
Both career highs for Markkanen. Not elite but he’s not being asked to guard bigs and he has help in the post.
You say two centers doesn’t work and then suggest a Towns/Noel pairing simply because it fits your knicks narrative
I talk ball. I have been sayin Noel and KAT since Minny got him. Plus catch up if you want a REAL conversation. Noel is not on the Knicks.
Totally disagree about the wolves.
Gobert is one of the best centers in basketball.
Picking him up allows Towns to become one of the best PF’s in basketball.
If Ant is as good as he looks you have an elite 3 man core.
People are making a big mistake looking at this as a trade for a center. They already had a center and didn’t downgrade at that position so this was a trade to fill the PF position with a player much, much better than anyone they could have gotten.
I’d add the fact that anyone who watched the NBA last season had to notice all of the extra defensive contact allowed under the basket. That tells me the value of size under the basket went up a lot last year.
Except KAT is not a good defender. And worse he can’t guard the perimeter. The reason Cavs had some success. And I know they haven’t won anything. Is Mobley is a modern center. In that he can step out and shoot. And he can guard the perimeter. The big works the hardest. When he’s constantly picked and put on different perimeter players. Too have two of top Centers is overkill imo. Not going to win a ring ever.
Exactly why upgrading at center with an elite defensive guy and moving Kat out to stretch 4 is so valuable.
The fact that Towns can play Center doesn’t mean you have two centers. It means you have great depth and the best back up center in the NBA.
So your GM pays 40 mill a yr for a backup center …… you have magnified my point.
Gobert starts at Center
Towns starts at Power Forward.
Remember when we talked about you reading?
Read the first post. This doesn’t work. KAT doesn’t know what a stretch 4 is. He’s like you. 6 posts later.
@Knicks
You’re arrogant for no dang reason. A stretch four is a player that is of power forward size but has superior shooting skills (especially three-point field goals), spending more of their time away from the basket. While using these skills on offense, the player retains the ability to defend the opposing power forward. He’s a little taller than most 4s but certainly has the offensive profile to be an elite stretch 4 @ 53%/41%/82%
KAT is a better defender than Noel – look it up.
Def rtg last season 109.8, DRPM +1.93
Agree, no more than 4 1st round picks, maybe 2pick swaps, Rose or Fournier, 2 kids, not Toppin. Hey, I like Fournier, because you need a shooter to space floor…
To Jazz, RJ Barrett and Herro have little value. Each of them is less than 1 future First
They would walk for nothing next summer
To Knicks and Heat, they both have huge value
They wouldn’t walk next summer. They’re restricted. Concussion protocol to commence in 3, 2…
Length is starting to make a comeback! The Celtics length gave golden state trouble! The reaso why the Celtics lost is because they had no bench! The bigs now days are quicker and more mobile! The Twolves are going to better than people think!
Umm, no.
After gm 3, the Warriors had figured out how to defend the Celtics’ length.
I’m probably the biggest supporter of the big man on this Board. I’m not a child. My views and answers don’t change. Cause I know ball. I don’t read or believe the hype. To me Rudy and KAT makes no sense.
“I know ball” lmao
You should reconsider the reading thing if you don’t think a great center and a great stretch 4 work well together.
It’s not as hard as you might have heard.
I’ve never used stretch4. I said two all star centers. Dude learn to have a real conversation. Only way we learn.
We’re talking about Rudy and Towns. Towns can play the 4 and is a great outside shooter.
The fact that you’re trying to pretend this is a two center situation is the error.
Were you looking for a conversation based on reality or your fantasies?
This for you only since you have trouble reading. And want to flame this board over your lack of understanding.
My first post says ——
Rudy and KAT can’t work successfully. I used Horford and Embiid as an example. I posted KAT can not guard the perimeter. Therefore even brought up a better combo with Noel. Who is cheaper and can guard the perimeter. Now you may like KAT as a stretch 4. But the only thing he is stretching is his shorts. He doesn’t have the athleticism to play the 4 nor the handle. So get a grip and argue the facts. Cause if you can read as well as you claim. Why are you still on what was explain in the FIRST post. I know it must be my fault. Cause I give you credit for understanding basketball talk.
Literally in first sentence …….. READ
“But I don’t see the fit“
It’s not the first time I have explained this since the trade. Argue ball not words you can’t understand. Ask for a better definition. And I will give you one.
Get help Al.
I’m sorry I know more than you. I apologize for having to explain in 5 posts. What was clearly said in the first post. Next time I respond to you. I will speak to a 6 yr old. Then maybe you will get it.
Knowledge is not given. It takes work and per·se·ver·ance. I put in the work n time.
Al, did you google ‘perseverance’ and then copy/paste it? The dots suggest you did.
Hahahahahaha
He definitely did
I thought it made a better point that way. I look up words all the time.
Horford and Embiid are not equivalent to Gobert and Towns, that’s a bad example. Embiid is about scoring 1st, Gobert defense 1st. Also due to the Simmons issue, the 76ers were nothing like the Twolves overall.
It’s excatly Equivalent. Both think it will work…….
Ha ha, repeating your wrong take about this failed example doesn’t make it true.
It’s inevitable that both the Jazz and Knicks will make the trade. Mitchell would want to go there. The Knicks would love to have him. Ainge wants to repeat what he did in Boston. The Knicks have the picks he wants and a couple of controllable assets, it’s just a matter of fine tuning the details. I’d give Utah what they want if they take Fournier in that package.
No one else can come close to matching what the Knicks can send them, so I agree that it’s inevitable. Knicks should realize that and not buckle and send them a ludicrous package that will hamstring the organization for years to come. 4 1sts, one swap, 3 former first rounders (Quickley, McBride, and Reddish), plus a salary (Fournier, or Rose). I honestly think the Jazz would be interested in Fournier, because they could let him gun for a season and a half and put up numbers on a weak team then trade him. Can’t really get a significant asset back for Rose with only one year left and him being strictly a backup option at this point, unless a playoff team suffered an injury, and even then, how much is Rose going to keep a contending team afloat? The Gobert trade was insane. He’s a 30 year old rim protector on a huge contract. Might go down as one of the worst trades of all time for Minnesota. Gobert is already unplayable against 5s that can knock down 3s and drag him out to the perimeter. Mitchell is obviously worth more in a vacuum, but the Knicks shouldn’t feel compelled to blow that return out of the water, since no one else would have ever given up that much for him.
Love Donavan, but still remember the Carmelo trade. Need to avoid that situation. We were the laughing stock of the league. Let’s not bid against ourselves. Maybe go one pick above the Heat and then certainly not give up all our young )Quik, Obi, Deuce and Grimes). If need be, start the season with this crew and chill until January. The rebuild is on track.
Excatly ….. thank you
exKATly :D
@NY – Melo directly asked for the Knicks and only the Knicks. Mitchell is open to Miami.
That isn’t the point. But you can try. If a player wants to come and asks to come. Why would you give up half the team for him. Who is going to compete with him. We don’t need DM. I’d rather wait it out.
@Gabe – has to be Fournier (Rose only has one year left and is less than Fournier as the salary match works) and Toppin is what they’re asking for along with Grimes, not Reddish and McBride. Utah isn’t as crazy as it seems for their ask – those picks on the move are all protected unless they are Knicks picks and many if not all will fall after 15, making them less desirable. If the Knicks get Mitchell, they wouldn’t have enough time for IQ, Toppin or Grimes anyway.
Knicks: give 2 kids, a veteran, Fournier or Rose, 4 # 1’s… no more… Can’t compare to Rudy trade… MN was desperate for a change, sort of panic stricken, new regime. Knicks need depth, remember they’re giving up 2 kids, 4 # 1’s— no more— need to replenish depth young & cheap in the future…
Minnesota overpay for Gobert will entice a team to do the same for Mitchell a smallish scoring guard who can’t defend. The lowly Knicks will mortgage their future hopefully.
Right on Q …..
Who is your team Troll. We all want to know.
I’m staring to think this is Sillyman
Maybe you shouldn’t take digs at the Knicks so personally lol it’s only sports
Digs about my reading. Or cause I can talk ball like real ballers, That you can’t understand. Or any other subject rather than what’s posted. Is personal.
It means you can’t respond to the post. So you go elsewhere
Your knowledge is limited by your devotion to one of the most poorly run organizations in NBA history. Living in the ghosts of willis reed and clyde. Your current roster is crap. Your team has future picks to hopefully rebuild, with god willing new ownership and gm. Sorry al you ain’t that smart.
The Knick Troll needs attention ……
This is for the board. You see how a hater got absolutely no point. He’s here to flame cause his crotch don’t work. Pretty pathetic no.
So what does anything here have to do with me or the Knicks today.
Dude you sound a lot like Sillyman. I never respond to Sillyman for obvious reasons.
This could be Sillyman with courage ……
Not sure of all the hate for the TWolves (mostly from one person). If they knew ball, they’d know that the league is moving away from traditional a starting 5. Two big men, especially one as skilled as KAT can certainly win in this league. The Cavs showed this to be true just this season. Expect the league to move more and more towards “position-less” rotations in the near term.
The difference between me and you. And 90% if this board. I have no hate in my soul. I talk ball. Just cause I say it won’t work. Is not gods word. But talking ball. It’s one of dumbest trades in recent memory. Yes Minny needs D. McGee could of done that. They have Russell to deal with. Noel is perfect example. Cause chemistry wise he fits KAT. Just like Carter would from Magic. A big who can step out. And his strength is D. And fill in what they really need. Shooters to open up the lane for KAT n Edwards n Russell. Rudy makes no sense to me.
It’s not hate lol …… it’s knowledge talking. As smart as I might think I am. Nothing is 100%. I just got enough confidence for this whole board. Playing made me that way.
You referring to Noel as “A big who can step out” and “defend” is hilarious. He “defends” with a DRPM of -0.25 compared to Gobert, who’s # 1 at +8.00
Why you thing Kat isn’t more important to the Twolves as a 3 pt shooter (claiming the Twolves need shooters “to open up the lane for Kat n Edwards n Russell) is funny, because KAT and Russell aren’t known for driving to the lane.
Towns led them in 3 pt FG% but was 4th on the team in 3 pt FGAs (Edwards, Russell, and Beasley all took over 8/gm). Now that Beasley is gone, KAT’s going to be taking those threes.
Does bragging on a blog about your (highly debatable) “knowledge” make you feel better about yourself somehow?
No hate for the wolves friend. Was a deep roster. Big overpay for a big man who gives you little on offense, poor at the charity stripe and a bit of a butterfingers handling the rock.
?????????????????????????????
Really …… I’d love to see you face to face. You got phony courage. I doubt you ever speak your mind lol.
Knowledge is a killer lol. Cause I’ve overkilled you a long time ago. It’s why you can’t stop trolling me or my 94yr old mom. And she probably knows more ball than you will ever learn lol
94, so that makes you at least 60?!
So let’s get back to DM …….
He’s not worth what they are asking. Only way Jazz get anything close to this. Is by taking Randle and or Fournier. And moving them to third team for assets.
I wouldn’t give up RJ or Toppin.
I’d give up as much as 4 picks. Then no swaps. I can wait and hope Knicks can too. Jan 15 more good players will be available. Like Ayton ……
I know it’s clear now to me DM wants NY. So I expect this to drag out. Knicks should hold out and DM should hold out too (fake injury). Utah got no better offers now or later.
Orlando can make a better offer.
Suggs, Carter Jr., Isaacs, and 4 firsts.
2 of the firsts are from other teams.
Other 2 picks from Magic’s wouldn’t convey until 5+ years from now.
Starting …
Markelle Fultz
Donovan Mitchell
Franz Wagner
Paolo Banchero
Mo Bamba
Bench …
Cole Anthony
RJ Hampton
Gary Harris
Chuma Okeke
Mo Wagner
Bench is light but they’d have room to do more. And I think Suggs and Carter Jr. are better than anything NYK would offer unless they’re including Barrett.
Fultz isn’t starting over Anthony.
Why would Ainge wait 5 years for draft picks? He’s building now and looking for an abundance of picks. No different than what he did in Boston. In 5 years he’ll want to be chomping at that title.
Why ???? They have another yr of picks to add. Then can go get someone. No cares how long they take not the media or the fans. They can rebuild till they get it right.
DM is not going to Orlando. Unless it’s to take his family to see Mickey .
Ainge’s NBA reputation in transactional matters is somewhere between deal impediment and deal killer, one capable of killing even seemingly inevitable deals. In his later years in BOS he was quite sensitive about it. It became part of every negotiation for him to have his media minions put out stories every other day about how reasonable he’s being and warning the other side not to take advantage of it. It may have started already.
NYK can’t bite, patience is needed and, in this situation, that should be easy. NYK have already had a good off season, and can start the season with the roster as it is. DM can give them a higher ceiling, but not if the asset base is completely depleted to get him.
I laughed at minions, so true, part of the game tho as corny as it is
Remember when Andre Iggy was “the last championship piece” to like 12 teams 3/4 years ago
Man nobody plays that game better than GSW, but Ainge has certainly taken his fair share of notes. It can be annoying to the other 29 teams but he’s playin it right for home base
Dannys showed his cards tho here
He already said everyones tradeable, didnt want RJ apparently so he’s lost a little leverage with showing its just about picks here- NYK lines up well and yes can have added patience knowing Dannys holding s
NBA GM’s has limits on how much KD Is worth based upon age 34, injury history, no leadership skills, will he be happy/ temper-mental— left GS(contract)/ trade request Nets… Donovan is younger, should be 2nd option on a good team, a team that can defend… Knicks can’t overpay, but he would fit, most importantly he wants to be in NY…
GSW, yes. Their DiLo campaign (he’s not a bad contract, he’s an asset, trust us) should be studied by aspiring politicians. I’m not sure if anyone really bought in other than MIN, but it only takes one.
With Ainge, he’s come to it late. I think it’s more like the best defense is a good offense. I think he assumes if a deal doesn’t go down, he’s the one who will be blamed just because of his history; so he wants to get out in front of that. He’s probably right (he will be), just not sure why he cares.
DXC made a great point, GS treated DiLo as an asset to be moved in future trades( Wiggins helped win a ring) – Give Ainge credit, new to org, observed used Gobert as an asset, got 9 assets back( 4 # 1’s, trade swap, Kessler, 4 serviceable veterans to be moved or kept)…As DXC said, Only takes 1 buyer… In this case MN was the buyer in both circumstances… Just saying…. interesting to see what will happen this coming season…
Oh, I give all the credit to GSW in the world
I just found the minions comment funny as it’s smoke season right now and each org dances around the fire differently {some better than others}
The DLo heist was legendary indeed; the Iggy fascination was truly bizarre to me as well.
I remember Laker fans (and many other teams) swearing if they could just get a mid 30’s, overpaid, coming off major injs Iggy they’d be title bound
Ill take the guy who got Philly to give a #1 pick for the right to take Jason Tatum, got Smart, Tatum and Brown from Brooklyn and just less than a month ago got Minny to give up 6 picks for a guy who nobody knows what to do with on offense over…wait who is the GM of the Knicks?
Do they have a GM? Or does Dolan just decide?
Danny will get what he wants, he usually does and you Knick fans are gonna hate it. Danny has at least 3 teams interested in Mitchell and they all have assets. So buckle up. Trader Danny is at the table.
I’m not a Knicks fan but this trade could give them a great young core for a long time (if the can keep Barrett). They will have to learn how to play defense and build some depth. They will be fun to watch right away.
Mitchell would be that defense they need in the middle, Blocking shots and rebounding. It would be interesting to see .donovan, brunson, mitchell, barrett and randle
They also added a pretty good back up center and resigned sims another good back up . Will have a decent bench depending on who is traded.
Knicks will be fun team to watch… They’re watchable… In the last 20 yrs, other than a few Carmelo yrs, 2021 4th seed, they were a bad organization…
Why is no one saying Mitch for KD straight up
@jess
Because Utah/Ainge are rebuilding. KD is already about 33/34 and by himself wouldn’t make them a top 5 team. He wants young players and a bunch of picks to try and build from scratch. I also think he is basically looking to tank this season to try and get the #1 pick to draft Victor Wembanyama.
Sports writers pushing false narratives? I’m shocked that media would do such a thing.
Next yrs draft is deep. And of course a generational Center. So Danny wants to tank now. It’s why he took those players from Minny. Not a starter in sight. I’m sure he’d rather take a 19 yr old or two 19 yr olds with upside. So he can finish bottom three. He’s all in on next yrs draft now. The biggest Genius on this earth can figure that out.
He can do that by taking Randle. Then flip him for picks and 19 yr olds. Or Fournier or expiring contracts. Which Rose and Fournier are. DM wants NY so it will be NY. Stars run NBA now. Personally I’d wait till Jan 15. Cause then we will have options and DM price will be much cheaper. And Randle n Fournier will be looking real good then.
Evan Fournier, Cam Reddish, Grimes and Quickley … PLUS… 4 Knicks unprotected FRPs (’23/’25/’27/’29), 3 pick swaps (’24/’26/’28), plus Dallas’ FRP in 2023, and Milwaukees pick in 2025.
IMO, that’s what it would take for the Knicks offer to be more appetizing than a Miami/Brooklyn/ Denver/Sacramento/etc offer. The high draft compensation is also reflective of Utah taking on Evan Fournier’s 3 years and $54 million remaining on his deal, as well as the Knicks not having to give up Obi Toppin (amongst others) in this deal.
If the Knicks want Spider, they better not hold back. Otherwise Danny will ship him to Brooklyn REAL quick, lol.
I think the nuggets are sleepers on this one. I think a deal around a Fit MPJ could interest Jazz.
Mitchell would suit better in a back court with Murray who is a good defender and with Jokic passing to both of them would improve them, freeing each other up off the pick.
For Jazz they get a good young player locked up for a few years, yes the back issues may be a problem but if they’re tanking, MPJ’s upside along with maybe Hyland and a mass of picks should get their interest to take a swing on Porter and jump start a rebuild.
