The Warriors only have 11 players on standard contracts so far, leaving at least three openings on their projected regular season roster. According to Anthony Slater of The Athletic, it’s possible one of those spots will be filled by Andre Iguodala.
Golden State hasn’t set any sort of deadline for Iguodala to make a decision on whether or not he wants to continue his playing career, so there will be a roster spot available for him if he decides he wants to continue playing, Slater explains.
Second-round pick Ryan Rollins also appears likely to claim one of the 15-man roster spots. He has a stress fracture in his foot, but Slater says there’s a belief he should be ready to go by training camp and he’ll likely receive a standard contract rather than a two-way deal.
Quinndary Weatherspoon, who received a two-way qualifying offer from the Warriors, is another player to watch, according to Slater, though he says the team’s preference would be to keep Weatherspoon on a two-way contract rather than a standard deal.
Here’s more from around the Pacific:
- While some rival scouts and executives questioned the Lakers‘ decision to use their taxpayer mid-level exception on Lonnie Walker and didn’t love the signing of Troy Brown, the general reaction to the team’s free agency moves has been positive, says Dan Woike of The Los Angeles Times. In particular, Los Angeles received “high marks” for getting centers Thomas Bryant and Damian Jones on minimum-salary contracts, according to Woike.
- In an episode of The Void Podcast, Kevin O’Connor, J. Kyle Mann, and Jonathan Tjarks of The Ringer make the case that the Kings made the right choice picking Keegan Murray over Jaden Ivey, suggesting that Murray is an ideal fit for Sacramento’s roster.
- The contracts signed by Moses Brown, Jay Scrubb, and Xavier Moon with the Clippers are all Exhibit 10 deals, Hoops Rumors has learned. That means they’re one-year, non-guaranteed minimum-salary contracts which won’t count against the cap unless the player makes the regular season roster.
Pelinka has done a bang up job this off-season despite very little to work with. Whole lotta upside in Lonnie Walker IV playing next to LeBron James so I don’t understand the criticism there. The bigs seem hungry and ready to compete, which bodes well for the Lakers and especially AD. The Robfather has shown he can get it done when given a simple task.
Yes, if the Lakers were a 5-6 seed last year that needed a some work on their depth pieces to push them over the top, then I would agree with you. They were 33-49 though, missed the play-in and made minimal improvements with these deals. If you think that Bron is going to continue to improve at this age, Davis is actually going to stay healthy and Russ is going to fit in better, then these moves will help solidify them as a contender.
Rob’s offseason is a C right now, and the only way to actually call him a genius is to get LBJ to sign an extension and land Irving.
Unfortunately for the Lakers, they have no combination of assets that would compensate another team for taking on Westbrick’s atrocious contract and giving them an actual player in return.
I’m a spurs fan and hope lonnie can play well for Lakers. He’s a good dude and should be better served being off ball.
Hollywood Lakers use the starter spots to attract the free agents.
What does it mean?
Hollywood Lakers are not handsome.
There is a reason Hollywood Lakers did not sign good free agents this summer.
Besides not having money to play with?
Kyrie Irving loves Lakers because he wants 4-year $198 million contract.
If Lakers do not pay him good money, he would walk for nothing
The free agents Lakers acquired are not playable in NBA Finals.
Don’t see the problem with the Lakers signings. Last year they signed like 8 old guys who didn’t even belong in the league anymore. They went for younger players who could actually make it through a season.
and they got called a “superteam” for signing those guys…when they were always those guys.
I wonder if Melo comes back…should they want him, no. But would they sign him if he wants to play, yes. I’d like to see Melo end his career on the nuggets myself
Melo a perfect fit on one of those GSW spots, and finally gets a ring playing with the true GOAT Curry.
But if you wanna believe what Bucher said today, then KD might be on his way and who knows what that will bring to the roster.
@ A’sfaninUK
Bucher is a fool. For evidence, he said in April 2021 that “It’s better for Steph’s legacy to leave the Warriors”.
In May 2022, “Steph has never carried the Warriors to a title, and he can’t do it now”.
@asfaninuk Bucher did not say that Durant is on his way to the Warriors. He just repeated what an Eastern Conf. GM said. Trading for Durant would be stupid on so many levels. Why try to fix something that ain’t broken? It would destroy the Dubs for at least a decade. Why mess with what is working?
Getting KD by releasing Barnes and Bogut in 2017 was a generational bargain. Paying BKN what he would cost now would be beyond foolish.
Why is it you guys are so stupid? The Warriors didn’t release Harrison Barnes. They traded Barnes.
Let’s say GSW didn’t extend his $3M deal … Totally agree with Ashton
I’m confused. The Warriors have won a Championship without Harrison Barnes, or Kevin Durant. But, you believe that they can only win a championship if they re-acquire Harrison Barnes and Kevin Durant. I don’t understand your belief.
Just cause of the Andre Iggy mention, I’d like to say why have all these old guys been wildin recently
Iggy said if Rashed Wallace played in today’s game he’d be top 5 and better than Giannas…
How y’all might not exactly agree but I’d say Giannas is the best player right now and ain’t no way in hell if Sheed played today he’d be the best player. The guy averaged 14-7 at 6’11, was a 4 time all star, never made a all nba teams or all defensive team. That’s like saying if Brook Lopez played in the 80’s he’d a hall of famer.
Before that Ray Allen said is LeBron a great ball handler, is he a great three point shooter, is he a great free throw shooter, no. So how’s he the goat, Jordan is….
Now I don’t care for this debate but Bron is a better three point shooter than Mike easily, both weren’t great ball handlers and yes Bron isn’t amazing at free throws but Mike was great he was good. But by these standards Steph Curry is the goat, Kyrie is the goat, KD is the goat, heck you have kids in high school that can handle and shoot.
People and particularly old heads be talking down on the youngins for being confident, be it Ja saying he’d beat MJ 1 on 1 or all these rookies talking how they the best player. Who olds these old guys accountable?
Ja ain’t being MJ 1 on 1, Benedict Mathurin aint the best player in the league, ain’t no way Sheed better than Giannas in any era and Ray Allen don’t go arguing with kids about the Goat
