The Warriors have signed first-round pick Patrick Baldwin Jr., the team announced on Twitter.
Assuming Baldwin receives 120% of the rookie scale, which is standard, his salary will be $2.2MM for his first season and $11.4MM over the four-year contract.
Baldwin was a highly touted high school player whose draft stock tumbled after a disappointing season at Wisconsin-Milwaukee, where he played for his father. An ankle injury limited him to 11 games and he averaged 12.1 points and 5.8 rebounds per night while shooting 34.4% from the field and 26.6% from three-point range.
Golden State felt Baldwin was worth the gamble with the 28th overall pick, and the Warriors can afford to give the 19-year-old forward time to develop.
Looney-Green-Wiggins-Thompson-Curry
Wiseman-Kuminga-Moody-DiVincenzo-Poole
?-Baldwin-Santos-Rollins-?
Even though there’s still two spots left (Iggy? Melo? Both?) not many teams beating Curry with these guys around him. Full years of Poole, Looney and Wiggins playing like they did in the playoffs will be pain for everyone, then there’s Kuminga, Moody and Wiseman who could make a huge leap at any given moment. It’s going to be bad for non-GSW fans…
I think it would be nice to add another Stretch-4 or Stretch-5.
We lost both Porter and Bjelica as free agents.
Patrick Baldwin could eventually fill one of those Stretch-big roles but he might start off the season playing in the GLeague.
Not a lot out there on the Market at the moment.
Frank Kaminskiy comes to mind, but not sure how healthy he is after January knee surgery. LaMarcus Aldridge is on his last legs. Juancho, Markief, Millsap, Paschall, Justin Jackson is playing well for Team USA at the moment but is only 6-8.
How tall you want? Anyone look good on GSW summer league roster? What about 6’8” 225# Dustin Sleva? I saw a couple of nice highlights yesterday. link to basketball.eurobasket.com
@xtra The dude is obsessed with tall guys. He doesn’t care if they have any talent. He just wants a tall man. It makes you wonder???
Manlet seething.
Moody looked average Santos has been good the rest is trash… Baldwin jr is not a good frontcourt player. GSW needs bench D and size but it looks that FO wants the young core to developp untill FA… Wiseman is on the spot for the next 6 months.
Bledsoe, Schroeder or Kemba at the minimum to manage Curry’s minutes a lot more in the regular season … PG backup are the UFA on the market
Sebch, Kemba Walker would be dicey. When he’s right he’s right, but he’s dealt with so many injury issues I don’t know that I would want him in place as the guy to give Curry rest. It seems dicey. Walker, Schröder, and Bledsoe all bring a lot of the same anyways (undersized, somewhat ball dominant facilitators better suited for second units that are offense-first/offense-only players) so I would think they would opt to go in a non-Walker direction.
GangGreen23, Baldwin is a wing. I don’t think he could hack it at the 4 even in a small ball lineup. He has the height but he seems extremely lanky and not overly physical.
I think GSW need to unload a lot of minutes to prevent a Curry season injury. UFA PG market is the last one with good value players so with Kuminga and Wiseman maybe Kerr could play more pick’n’roll BB with the 2nd unit
They got rid of Paschall because he wasn’t any good. Why would you want Kaminsky?
Kaminsky is a Stretch Big with NBA Finals experience. He was solid for Phoenix in the 2021 NBA Finals against the Bucks. Check out his stats.
More importantly, he’s a Stretch-Big in our price range, played for the Vet minimum the last 2 seasons.
We have 3 open Roster spots, how would you Fill them?
After Otto and Belly’s departure, I see a need for a Frontcourt shooter, which Draymond and Looney are not. Wiseman and Baldwin can fill those roles eventually but could use a vet stop gap until they are more ready.
Franck the tank is pretty good
I knew they would
