The Warriors have signed free agent guard Pat Spencer to an Exhibit 10 contract, agents Luke Glass and Keith Glass tell our JD Shaw (Twitter link).
Spencer, 26, finished his college career at Northwestern in 2019/20 and joined the Capital City Go-Go, the Wizards’ G League affiliate, last season. He appeared in 15 regular season games and nine Showcase Cup contests for the Go-Go, playing a limited role off the bench.
Spencer suited up for Washington’s Summer League team in Las Vegas earlier this month, averaging 6.5 PPG, 4.0 APG, and 3.8 RPG in four games (13.1 MPG).
While Spencer will occupy a spot on the Warriors’ 20-man offseason roster, he’s probably a long shot to make the regular season squad. The most likely outcome for Spencer is that he’s waived before the regular season begins and subsequently joins Golden State’s G League team, the Santa Cruz Warriors, as an affiliate player. In that scenario, he’d receive a $50K bonus if he spends at least 60 days with Santa Cruz.
Exhibit 10 contracts can also be converted into two-way deals before the regular season begins, though both of the Warriors’ two-way slots are currently filled.
Lmao Warriors have 17 guards and 3 bigs
They signed a Celtics summer league player the other day who is a big man.
Jeeze…A’sfan keeps showing how much of ditz he is. He keeps saying he is a genius, but doesn’t understand how rosters work. It is an exhibit 10 contract. He is a training camp filler. Most likely, he’ll wind up in Santa Cruz. They do this in every team sport. It is kinda like a non-roster invitee to spring training in baseball, since you say you are an A’s fan. They may make the 40 man roster, but hardly ever make 26 man roster.
Couple of videos of him on YouTube reveal he was originally a Lacrosse player at Northwestern that crossed over into Hoops.
Interesting story in the least.
Likely ticketed for Santa Cruz, as SFGiants74 alludes to.
Of course more likely to be a Santa Cruz warrior or a G league player. Just a pre season roster filler. I suggest you go to a Santa Cruz game next year. Lots of fun and gets to see future players.
Looks like he only played one season of College hoops. But, he was LaCrosse legend. He holds several D1 records. He could be a find. I guess we will see.
He played lacrosse at loyola maryland. He was filthy at lacrosse. Very happy to see him playing in the NBA.
As a former lacrosse player… Pat was one of the greatest lacrosse players to bless the field. Very glad to see him in the association.
Hopefully, his skills are transferable. Could be diamond in the rough.
I hope so too. He has one if the quickest first steps i have ever seen in the game of lacrosse. He dropped many a defender with his jab steps and head fakes, one can only hope he produces as many highlights as he used too!
Definitely making the team!
