Former NBA forward Rodions Kurucs has officially signed a one-year contract with Real Betis Baloncesto in Seville, Spain, according to a team press release. The Spanish team’s interest in Kurucs was reported earlier this month.
Kurucs has appeared in 131 NBA games, including a total of 21 with Brooklyn, Milwaukee and Houston during the 2020/21 campaign. He played with KK Partizan in Serbia last season. Kurucs also saw action in four Summer League contests with the Raptors in July.
We have more from the basketball world:
- French big man Victor Wembanyama and G League Ignite guard Scoot Henderson are the early favorites to go 1-2 in next year’s draft. Who’s No. 3? Sports Illustrated’s Jeremy Woo chooses Arkansas freshman guard Nick Smith. Woo unveils his early first-round mock for 2023, which is filled with wings and guards.
- Andre Iguodala believes the NBA should continue to play 82 regular season games, Lee Tran of FadeAwayWorld.net relays. On his Point Forward podcast, Iguodala says the grind of an NBA season “separates the men from the boys,” adding “We can’t change 82 games. 82 games … there’s a mental side of it. That’s why we talk about rookie wall. Records are made to be broken, and as we get better over time we’ll break more records. But I do think that there’s a foundation in all sports, you have to carry on that tradition.”
- Dillon Brooks, Gary Trent Jr. and Victor Oladipo are among the potential free agents in next year’s class who could pump up their value during the upcoming season, Dan Devine of The Ringer writes. Devine takes a closer look at eight “compelling” players to watch as they head into possible contract years.
Iggy’s right
Andre Igoudala is absolutely right. I love the 82 game season format and I think the play in also been a success. They just need the play in stats to start counting towards a player regular season numbers because it’s crucial. I would like if they can get rid of some of the back to back games because of all the travel and jet lag and all that but the 82 game season is perfect. If it’s not broke don’t fix it.
You tell them kids Andre
Dillon Brooks and Gary Trent Jr. are both very solid on both ends of the floor and going to do well when they make it to free agency. Victor Oladipo has a chance to really make his value go through the roof if he can start and show his two way potential and Star potential.
What will be different for Victor Oladipo this season as opposed to the past? The way the man plays and goes all out he gets dinged up. He’ll play his 40 to 50 games and be Victor oladipo. Nothing will be different.
In fact he doesn’t have to show anything this year as far as what you’re saying. Everyone on the face of the planet knows he has superb “two-way and All-Star potential.” That’s no secret. But he can’t stay on the floor. Not seeing how that will change.
Oh and he’s 30. Maybe at 27 I would see a full season for him coming up but at this point he’ll always be a risk for any team who signs him and counts him among their top five for the season.
You make a lot of sense. Victor Oladipo has definitely been a injury prone. I’m just banking on him being a healthy and having a very solid season.
Too true, too true Iggy, 82 games must be untouchable, men vs boys, sadly even most fans ain’t man enough for the 82 games as they want to cut down the RS!!!
When was the last time Iguadala played 82 games? Not everyone but a lot of the top players take games off for rest so what is he talking about? Iguadala pouted like a little school girl because he just had to have that extra year a few years back but wasn’t worth the money so the Warriors traded him and he threw a fit, showed his true colors and stayed home. And now he’s talking about separating the men from the boys? Screw this jerk.
i was gonna agree with the other posts until i read yours.
Andre Iguodala played full complete seasons for every one of his FIRST 15 YEARS. Sure there’s sprained ankles and other things that cause you to miss 5 or 10 games. Stuff happens but he hasn’t sat out because of age until the last 3 years because of injury or his knucklehead move with the grizzlies.
But he does have a point and has every right to his opinion here because of what he’s done for his career. He went Full Tilt for 15 seasons. Do I agree with the Grizzlies maneuver, of course not. But so many fans are so enchanted with the latest shiny object they don’t see the whole picture.
“Screw him,” he sat out with the Grizzlies. Okay fine. But he’s more than sitting out until the trade deadline with the Grizzlies. At least enough so to have a right to his opinion here and it be valid.
But it’s no longer valid. Many players sit out games while healthy, even him. Stop being a homer.
For him to talk about this NOW, shows his true character.
Besides many meaningless regular season games, the past seasons have shown playoffs and Finals with significant injuries to many teams.
The modern NBA game is much, much faster, on both sides of the court, compared to say the grind ’em out games of the 80’s through 90’s.
If reducing regular season games to, say 72 games and it will help in ensuring a healthier post-season, then I’m okay with it.
Yes definitely the high rate of injuries lately is something to consider when bringing up the schedule. I think they’ve done a little with the less travel miles and more back to back in the same city but probably need to do more.
