On Thursday, we listed the top 50 highest-paid NBA players for the 2022/23 season. Although that list presented a clear picture of the highest earners for the current season, not every NBA team was represented. Five of the league’s 30 franchises – the Spurs, Rockets, Magic, Pistons and Pacers – didn’t have a single player in the top 50.
Our list of highest-paid players for 2022/23 also only provided a snapshot for this year. For example, Kevin Love, who cracked the top 50, will be well compensated for the coming season but is on an expiring contract and will almost certainly fall off that list next year.
Today, we’re shifting our focus to the highest-paid players by team. This will allow us to check in on the clubs that weren’t represented on our initial list, as well as identifying some of the league’s most lucrative multiyear commitments — we’ve included each club’s highest-paid player for the 2022/23 season and its highest-paid player in total.

Information from Spotrac was used in the creation of this post.
Kelly O being the top-paid player on the Pistons pretty much means he doesn’t fit in on the Pistons.
One would think they would try to move him. He could help some contending teams off the bench.
Big shout to Landry Fields/TSchlenk for signing Tank Kaminsky to give us same production for the vet min as Olynyk is gonna give Detroit for over $12M
Big shout to olynyk for making way more than Frank as well.
right.
Next year it might be Draymond Green as their highest paid player. If he doesn’t resign with GSW it will be with the Pistons.
I would LOVE this
Kells is under rated. He’s better than MBIII and his stretch 5 abilities aren’t being used right.
Agreed. Olynyk has a nice overall game.
If you don’t consider defense or rebounding ofc
Haters gotta hate.
Lol I feel like someone hurt u with that 1 before. Was it me lol? I honestly didn’t know yall would even mind being called haters so much. I’m glad it hit home tho
Dude. Calm down. It’s ok bro. I was just messing. You can relax.
1. Lol did me laughing at you give you the impression that I’m not relaxed and calm? Lol… 2. Strong David Spade vibes with all that passive aggressiveness, I mean “messing” lol
So angry. About nothing.
If you’re angry it’s prob about something. Don’t get so down on yourself. I’m sure you have good qualities
Dude..I give up. Peace.
Lol what.. we’re messing..
Obviously. At least it is to me.
Bagley was better than Olynyk as Pistons last yr. Only reason they’re even comparable is bc Olynyk is much older. Olynyk had scored 600pts in the league when he was Bagleys age. Bagley currently well over 2000pts in his career so far. Bagley is more productive, younger, more versatile, much higher potential & now that they’re on the same team Bagley is higher in the rotation. Pretty clear which of those guys is better
Why do you come on here to tear playwrs down bro?
Lol saying that Marvin Bagley is better than Kelly Olynyk isn’t hating on Olynyk anymore than you saying Olynyk is better than Bagley would be hating on Bagley. It’s a trip how you’re holding onto something I said weeks ago (or whenever it was) about u and others here being haters. Did I really get to u that bad lol?
Dude. I am just messing with you. You’re so easy
I almost feel bad.
Don’t feel bad. Just watch more Pistons this season. You probably just haven’t seen much of Bagley & just went off popular opinion which is pretty common tbh. He’s not better than Luka but Olynyk is another story lol
Dude. My god. I enjoy your posts. My girlfriend knows olynyk as she went to Gonzaga. I always talk him up. I am messing with you. Re. Lax
Lol wha?… Pause my dude. Whatever your gf did with Olynyk is nobody’s business here. Swiftly gettin into tmi territory fr. Reminiscent of Rob Corrdry’s character in Semi-Pro tho init?…. do they ever let u watch? lol relax I’m just messing
Dude. I thought YOU might be interested in why I ALWAYS back olynyk. If not. It’s ok.
I guess my new nickname is “Dude.” lolol but omg yes I definitely am interested in that glorious tidbit about your ever so slight connection to Kelly Olynyk. I literally can’t think of anything more interesting tbh. But I just thought you’d be interested in a lil messing & I’m sorry but I guess I was wrong lol
If youre not it’s fine dude.no reason to get all aggro. Again
And I am always interested in messin. Obviously
Obviously lol
You drinking again OG? Lol
OG is a good dude. He’s just trying to find his way in life.
You two need to get a room! Ahahha
Explains how some teams are clearly mismanaged. Lot of 2nd or 3rd options on championship teams being paid $30M to be a “star” for losers!
Trae Young to OKC for Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Jalen (J-Dub) Williams & Philly’s 2025 1st.. who says no, the Hawks or the Thunder?
I’d say both.
Any reason why?
Neither team is probably interested in shaking things up that much. ATL likely doesn’t want to trade Trae and OKC doesn’t want to trade SGA. They’re both deep into building something specific and overhauling that would be a big risk/gamble.
Not to say that the trade wouldn’t be fair one way or the other, just that neither team is likely interested in something big like that.
Yea I agree this isn’t gonna happen as both of these guys are franchise cornerstones. Question was more about whether the deal was fair to both sides & if it would make either/both/neither of these teams beter
Agreed
OKC in particular strikes me as a team that might be looking to flip SGA for FUTURE assets. Presti seems to be on a mission to somehow out-Hinkie Hinkie (and golden parachute to a lucrative Hedge Fund advisory role)
Edit: Might BE
I would say Thunder say no (well if I were Presti, Presti say he’ll yeah) because I like Jalen Williams a lot. But Trae did go to OU and he is a franchise spark plug. He’s a better fit with Giddy also.
Shai and Murray with Williams, Bogi, Collins, Capela, Hunter and Okongwu sounds like great defense. Like close 2nd to Boston defense. With Harkless and the Holiday’s, that would be a whole team of capable defenders.
It’s kinda a perfect trade but I think Atlanta says no ultimately. Shai has had injuries and Trae is one of the faces of the League. No team or very few would choose Shai over Trae in a vacuum knowing you basically have to pay them the same amount.
Hawks can’t trade Trae. He’s more beloved here than the Hawks as a franchise & its not even close. Politics aside I would love to see us do this. Trae is awesome & the best player we had in decades but I just never been a fan of small pgs myself. Plus, like yourself I’m extremely high on J Dub rn. He looks a lot like a West Coast Cam Reddish to me tbh. He plays with more of a sense of urgency tho. Saving a couple mil, getting bigger & stronger defensively, adding a future 1st in a draft that we currently don’t have a 1st & adding a long, smart, skilled rookie wing would be enough for me to pull the trigger. But in reality the only way we trade Trae is if he says he wants out. Shai’s past injuries aren’t concerning to me at all tho. If he was on a competitive team he would have played way more games over the past few seasons. OKC had him sit out with minor injuries in an effort to tank. Tbh I’m more worried about Trae being injured going forward.
Also it’s def not the same amount they’re getting paid. Something like a $35M difference over the next 5yrs
No one read this bro. Try to use more nuance
Clearly u read it lol
When I got to Spurs and saw Dougies name I was like FYM and he sure is their highest paid lolol
