The Kings have agreed to a one-year deal with free-agent swingman Kent Bazemore, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic (Twitter link). It’s unclear whether the deal is guaranteed, but Bazemore is set to join Sacramento for the second time in his career.
Bazemore most recently played for the Lakers, appearing in just 39 games last season. He averaged 3.4 points and 1.8 rebounds in 14.0 minutes per contest, shooting 32% from the floor and 36% from deep.
Before that, the 33-year-old played for the Warriors, Hawks, Blazers and Kings. Along with the Kings, Bazemore holds two separate stints with the Warriors (2012-14 and 2020-21), plus the Lakers (2013-14 and 2021-22). He owns career averages of 8.2 points and 3.2 rebounds per game.
The Kings currently have just 12 players on fully guaranteed contracts, so even if Bazemore’s deal isn’t guaranteed, he should have an opportunity to compete for one of the final spots on the team’s 15-man regular season roster.
Sacramento is coming off a 30-52 season, having missed the playoffs for an NBA-record 16th straight year. The team has a core of De’Aaron Fox, Davion Mitchell, Harrison Barnes, Domantas Sabonis and others that likely won’t finish drastically better than it did last season.
We did it
Love the dig at the end. Kings fans dont need that energy before the season even starts lol
Seriously who tf is jd shaw I google that and I get some dingus with a French horn
Anybody as easily triggered like you needs to get a life. What do you have against the guy who wrote the article? Why is it so upsetting you? If you can do better, you need to start your own site.
No he’s right, he kinda deserves to be called out, if he’s gonna throw shots at Sac & kick em while they’re down.
LOL
He’s a guy that clicked on the button “want to write for Hoops Rumors” living his dream. Hopefully he don’t read the comments. Cause then you run into this stuff. Who he is isn’t a big deal. Don’t like the article find a new one.
If it’s guaranteed contract, it’s mind boggling. Mike Brown needs to have talent, and not bunch of his friends and “yes” men who will be on his side in the locker room and in practices.
Agreed. However, the Mike Brown hiring in itself was a real head scratcher. How does a franchise pivot away from Luke Walton to bring on Mike Brown???? Both of their reps were made with Golden State. Mike Brown also had the disaster run as Cleveland head coach. Some teams truly are NOT trying to win games.
Whilst not a fan of Brown myself, I don’t know how anyone can call his run with Cleveland a disaster. Winning record every season with at least 50 wins in 4 out of the 5 seasons the first time he coached there. Back to back seasons with the most wins in the league, a trip to the NBA finals and a coach of the year award all whilst balancing out a team led by an inexperienced LeBron, aging Big Z and a bunch of role players no one will remember in 10 years time.
In his second stint with the Cavs I am surprised he even managed 33 wins given the amount of injuries and lack of chemistry they had that season.
The guy whilst perhaps not worthy of a place in the league anymore deserves at least some respect for his achievements.
He still has the 7th best winning percentage all time amongst head coaches in the league. Say what u want, but his resume speaks for itself.
Curious as to what his career record is WITHOUT LeBron on his roster…
75 Wins 78 Losses
Disaster in Cleveland? Which years are you referring to? Crummy teams fire their coaches and hire new ones. He took on a bad team that yes had a young LeBron who was filling Stat sheets and learning to be a great player but who else was there? Coaches get the bad rep but owners and GMs need more heat than this dude. Anyone who has had to coach LeBron and his demands probably needs a couch and a DR to listen to him. Lakers were a dumpster fire and has he been fire twice with LeBron on his team? I’d go crazy too. Take the rap for a guy who yes is talented but jettisoned all forms of picks and forced teams to pay for his buddies who let him down and then has to leave because GM LeBron sucks at his job. Mike Brown hasn’t missed the playoffs for 16 years. Sac has.
Props to the kings they’re actually having a pretty good off season. All jokes aside the kings truly have not made any smart decisions for a whileeee most recently with the tyrese haliburton trade but they drafted well, signed some good players and they could be pushing for a play in spot next season. they’re defense is gonna be non existent but they have a very good offense
The Kings are now a Superteam
Sorry to break it to ya JD, but we’re doin much better than 30 wins, we’re getting 40+ and at least a play in spot!
Agree, having Sabonis instead of Halliburton makes them instantly a play-in/playoff team!
