AUGUST 15: The Mavericks have officially signed both Wright and Gueye to Exhibit 10 contracts, Hoops Rumors has learned.
AUGUST 14: The Mavericks will sign McKinley Wright IV and Mouhamadou Gueye to training camp deals and will give them a chance to compete for roster spots, tweets Shams Charania of The Athletic.
Wright, a 23-year-old point guard, signed a two-way contract with the Timberwolves last August after going undrafted out of Colorado. He appeared in just five games for Minnesota, spending most of the season with the team’s G League affiliate in Iowa, where he averaged 19.1 points, 4.6 rebounds and 7.7 assists in 18 games. Wright played for the Suns in this year’s Las Vegas Summer League and is on Team USA’s roster for the World Cup qualifiers later this month.
Gueye, a 24-year-old forward, is a free agent who played last season at Pittsburgh after transferring from Stony Brook. He averaged 9.8 points and 6.3 rebounds for the Panthers during his lone season in the ACC.
Dallas has 14 players with guaranteed contracts and just one of its two-way slots filled, so there will be opportunities for whoever is impressive during training camp and the preseason.
as a mavs fan i’m so disappointed with some of the things we’ve done this off-season
Aww no one cares, 4 ply.
dawg this comment section is literally for sharing ur opinions on basketball stuff don’t act like i’m the only one lol
Trolls will always be trolls
Losing Brunson is fine. He took what roughly 18 shots a game? You have wood, thj and dinwiddie (will play more games) who all need their shots. Brunson peak was with the mavs. You should root for a jazz deconstruction , and hope to get Clarkson, Conley or even bo-jangles. Dump Powell, thj and a first or two. If dallas can acquire another great ball handler. I can see mavs going to finals
@david-45 oh yeah i do think we got significantly better this off-season. javale mcgee, while he is quiestionable, is exactly what we need (a big man who can block shots and catch lobs) christian wood playing next to elite play maker Luka could easily be a candidate for MIP and a potential all star appearance. I’d love to package THJ, and Bertans (not powell he’s a fan favorite and much better than Bricktans) and maybe a first to get an above average role player. but i’m upset that we missed out on dragic and upset that we resigned Ntilikina and aren’t making any moves to sign Melo who I think could be a really good bucket off the bench for us and I don’t like that our final roster spot is going to one of these two that I’ve never heard of before.
Last roster spot will be someone that gets bought out like pat bev maybe. Have to wait for Durant and Mitchell situation to work that stuff out first
Wright is going to eventually stick in the Association.
Yes .. yes he is.. the NBL of Australia association
