The 2022/23 NBA regular season will tip off next month, so it’s time to start getting serious about predictions for the upcoming campaign and to resume an annual Hoops Rumors tradition.
With the help of the lines from a handful of sports betting sites – including Bovada, BetOnline, and Betway – we’re running through the predicted win totals for each of the NBA’s 30 teams, by division. In a series of team-by-team polls, you’ll get the chance to weigh in on whether you think those forecasts are too optimistic or too pessimistic.
In 2021/22, our voters went 16-14 on their over/under picks. Can you top that in ’22/23?
We’ll begin our series today with the Southeast division…

If Dre stays reasonably healthy the Hawks should be closer to 60W than 40 no doubt. Onyeka should be a strong 6MOY candidate too
I’ll take the under on the Hawks, East is so deep and they’re def a step or two behind the pack.
I don’t see any weaknesses on this team. Rebounding, shooting, defending, willing/capable passers, vets/leadership, youth/high potential, a bona-fide superstar in his prime & we got the best center duo south of Minnesota
Lots of competition in the East. I don’t see anyone separating out and getting 60.
There was lots of competition in the West last yr. Phoenix still got 60+W. We’re just as good as they were. Main thing is that Dre has to be as available & as consistently great as Mikal was. Very possible for him to do. He’s probably a better player than Mikal (at least just as good). Mikal just done better avoiding injuries so far.
I have
7th seed Cavs
8th seed Raptors
9th seed Bulls
Knicks and Lakers need new GMs
Both teams are supposed to be great
Keep sleeping on Miami
Its still so crazy that NBA divisions exist online but not in real life, its 2 conferences and nothing else.
What in the world are you blabbing on about?
It isn’t that hard to figure out.
I believe division winners are still guaranteed playoff spots, if not one of the top 3 seeds any longer.
I just found this showing they are not guaranteed playoff spots but there’s still some value to it:
“12 of those 16 teams are confirmed ahead of the play-in tournament and are seeded 1-6 in each conference based on record. The first tiebreaker is head-to-head record, followed by a division winner tiebreaker. Even though division winners aren’t guaranteed a playoff spot, there’s some value in having that title.”
I have
Heat 51 wins
Hawks 50 wins
3 other teams are bad
Pacific division have won 70% of the championships since 2000?
As is tradition…the fact this is my 4th or 5th one of these is kinda crazy. Going to have to make a bet or something with you and the rest of the staff one of these days lmfao
