The Bucks are a potential suitor for Jae Crowder, ESPN’s Zach Lowe said on his podcast (hat tip to RealGM). Milwaukee is interested in forwards like Crowder who can guard multiple positions. They had some interest in a former Pistons forward, according to Lowe.
“The Bucks were sneakily kind of sniffing around Jerami Grant in Detroit before Portland swooped in,” he said. “I think they like the idea of the switchable, switchable, switchable guys.”
Crowder won’t participate in the Suns training camp as they look to move him.
We have more from the Central Division:
- Bulls center Andre Drummond will back up Nikola Vucevic, but Drummond still views himself as a starter, K.C. Johnson of NBC Sports Chicago tweets. The former All-Star signed a two-year, $6.6MM contract with Chicago early in free agency.
- A trio of Pacers big men are nursing ankle injuries, Scott Agness of Fieldhouse Files tweets. Deividas Sirvydis will miss some time after injuring his ankle in a pick-up game last week. Center Goga Bitadze is close, but not 100%, due his gimpy ankle, while Jalen Smith is close to full strength. Sirvydis’ ailment could cost him a shot at a roster spot — he signed a non-guaranteed, one-year contract that included Exhibit 10 language.
- With the addition of Donovan Mitchell, the Cavaliers realize that they’re not going to surprise anyone this season, Chris Fedor of the Cleveland Plain Dealer writes. “I think people know what we’re capable of now,” forward Kevin Love said. “If we put it together, we aren’t a team that’s really going to surprise anybody anymore. We’ve got some young stars that I think are going to make a lot of noise this year.”
- Fresh off signing a five-year extension, Darius Garland is looked upon as the leader of the Cavaliers, Kelsey Russo of The Athletic writes. “He’s a guy that people want to follow, they want to see him be successful, so it’s his opportunity and his responsibility to lead those guys in that way,” coach J.B. Bickerstaff said.
I’m so excited about this Cavs team! First they are very talented, second they are young and have time to grow, and thirdly every single one of them are likable/ good people!
What kind of package would it take for MKE to snag Crowder? I’m not great at regular math and terrible at NBA trade salary/draft pick math.
It would probably have to be Grayson Allen and George Hill for like Josh Okogie and Crowder. That makes the salaries work, and you’d basically end up with a rotation of:
MILWAUKEE BUCKS:
PG: Jrue Holiday, Joe Ingles, Jevon Carter,
SG: Wesley Matthews, Pat Connaughton, Jordan Nwora
SF: Khris Middleton, Josh Okogie, MarJon Beauchamp, A. J. Green
PF: Giannis Antetokounmpo, Jae Crowder, Thanasis Antetokounmpo
C: Brook Lopez, Bobby Portis, Serge Ibaka, Sandro Mamukelashvili
PHOENIX SUNS:
PG: Chris Paul, Cameron Payne, George Hill,
SG: Devin Booker, Landry Shamet, Damion Lee, Duane Washington Jr.
SF: Mikal Bridges, Grayson Allen, Ishmail Wainright
PF: Cameron Johnson, Dario Saric, Torrey Craig,
C: Deandre Ayton, Bismack Biyombo, Jock Landale,
Don’t think that’ll happen, I see the Cavs as the fit. Levert for crowder and shamet. Too think crowder is only making 4 mill more then dean wade.. would have to consider him to be on a very team friendly deal
Wherever Jae Crowder go he’s really going to help out big time.
Andre Drummond ain’t it. He got exposed when he played for the Lakers. He’s just another guy that put up good numbers on a bad team. I wouldn’t want him on my team period.
Recommend the ESPN trade machine.
Really easy to use just select 2 teams and click players and it’ll tell you how much money every is and how to make it even money wise.
Also gives a little +/- value wise but not hugely accurate obviously. Also no ability to include picks but it’s a really easy to use basic mock trade maker
My guess would be Grayson Allen straight up or a package of Hill, Beauchamp plus filler.
Crowder would be a good fit for the bucks.
Can play the 3 or the 4, which works well with Jrue as the 1 or 2, Middle at the 2 or 3, Portis a 4 or 5 and Giannas who can play anywhere.
It’s an easy contract to absorb financially, expiring and both parties happy to trade so the value isn’t that high and he seems like a good fit as either a starter or off the bench and with abut of alpha in him.
Financially the only real way it’s gets done is for Grayson Allen leaving. Bucks probably don’t mind that they signed Wes Mathew’s and drafted MarJon Baeuchamp. However not sure if the suns have much interest in him cause they already have Payne and Shamet secured up plus Damien Lee so maybe add a third team idk. Allen would be a good fit for the suns off the bench as a shooter but idk
You could include a third team like Orlando to take Allen and try get someone like Terrance Ross. Magic need a SG with Harris out and Allen fits as more of an off the ball player, floor stretcher and younger. Whereas Ross suits the Suns as a impact bench player and possible a go to guy for them on the second unit
