As the NBA season nears, it’s fair to wonder which team will sport the best starting lineup this season. Of course, a team’s finishing group matters more than its starting group, but that can depend on which players are having a good game on a given night, as well as the opponent.
When it comes to the best projected starting lineup, the reigning-champion Warriors can make a. Golden State can start Stephen Curry, Jordan Poole, Klay Thompson, Andrew Wiggins and Draymond Green. The team can also go bigger and swap one of those players with Kevon Looney.
The Celtics, who lost to Golden State in the Finals, are bringing their defensive-minded group back: Marcus Smart, Jaylen Brown, Jayson Tatum, Al Horford and Robert Williams III. They narrowly edged the Bucks in seven games last season, and Milwaukee figures to start Jrue Holiday, Grayson Allen, Khris Middleton, Giannis Antetokounmpo and Brook Lopez.
Besides those three teams, the Sixers, Nuggets, Nets, Suns, Bulls and Clippers can all make valid arguments for having the best projected group. The Grizzlies shocked the NBA by finishing with the second-best record at 56-26 last season, while the Hawks added Dejounte Murray to a star-studded lineup, so there are arguably other teams to consider depending on who improves the most.
We want to know what you think. Which team do you think has the best projected starting lineup? Was your pick mentioned, or do you believe another group deserves strong consideration? Take to the comment section below and voice your opinions!
Nets with good Simmons and Lakers with good Westbrook and Clippers with good Wall
Top 3 best Duos in the nba
LeBron and Davis
Durant and Irving
Kawhi and George
Top 3 best duos “*that are always hurt and never play together” would be a better phrasing.
Brown and Tatum I would take over the first two… and I hate the Celtics.
Is this a question of most talent? As great as the warriors are they are probably not the greatest collection of talent? That would probably be Brooklyn or LA
Even thats a lie, GSW goes deeper with talent than anyone. No one is sniffing their best 9, not the Nets or Clippers.
I agree, but the question is asking about starting lineups only
76ers
I’m going to go with the GSW because they so familiar and their starting lineup has everything you want and everything you need. Then the Boston Celtics because everybody in their lineup has really good defense. Then I think if we was just counting the regular season I would go with the Philadelphia 76ers. James Harden Joel Embiid or Tobias Harris haven’t shown me nothing come playoff time to pick them.
The team that’s going to have the worst starting lineup is the San Antonio Spurs.
Embiid Tobias Tucker Harden Maxey is pretty good.
Easiest way to do this is just look at 2k lol go by the ratings.
Timberwolves. Book it.
Book what? Wolves are a cursed franchise that will never win anything ever.
GSW never once last season lined up Curry Poole Klay Wiggins and Green as a starting 5 in any order.
As the article is about heading into next season I still don’t think they will line up with these 5 as the starters. It’s too small and filled with players too ball dominant. That said swap one of the wings out for Looney it’s still a really good team.
I think Milwaukee have the best starting 5.
Not mentioned at all but I think Miami if they traded for a solid PF they could have the best starting 5. Lowry Oladipo Butler … and Bam.
Say you do a Duncan Robinson, Jovic and a first for Jonathan Isaacs I think that’s the best starting 5. All good defenders, a couple good ball handlers, good enough floor spacing and they have a great head coach which makes them play the right way.
For this conversation that’s how you would list it. Same thing in the 80s with Kevin McHale and the celtics.
Might as well call this article “the best CLOSING lineup debate.”
It was Henderson Johnson bird McHale Parish instead of Cedric Maxwell Who was the starter. Same thing with the Warriors Looney starts but I wouldn’t really have him in a conversation regarding best starting lineups in the league. Warriors fall out of the top five there. Not saying Looney is a bad player but what he does doesn’t show up in the mainstream fan’s Minds as great.
Ehhh, the Warriors are the defending champs, hard to argue that.
You are the only poster with common sense in here, well done.
Not only does the starting 5 clear everyone, but no team comes even close to sniffing this best 9:
Curry, Thompson, Green, Wiggins, Looney, Wiseman, Poole, Kuminga and Moody.
“no team comes close” is a bit of a reach. Smart, Brown, Tatum, Horford, Rob Will, Brogdon, Gallinari, Grant Will and Pritchard is right up there.
I mean, I also think Golden State has the best starting lineup as a Celtics fan.
I wouldn’t assume everyone on here thinks or doesn’t think a certain way.
I hope Dayday comes home next year and helps teach our young stones how to play some winning bball. We have so much young talent. Can’t really see him leaving San Fran though.
I’d like to ask A’s fan what Wiseman, Kuminga and Moody have done in the league so far? Zero. Based on potential, not anything they’ve done.
Trae Young
Dejounte Murray
De’Andre Hunter
John Collins
Clint Capela
That’s a damn good starting 5 with OO and Bogi off the bench the Hawks should be a really really good team this season.
You might get excommunicated from polite society talkin like this lol
Steph Curry is straight FEASTING on that lineup, lol
Hawks are definitely looking forward to this coming season. They have big things in their sights. And it only goes up from here because they’re young. Plus I think I’m the only guy outside of Atlanta and maybe Houston that loves Clint capella. Used correctly I think he’s outstanding. Highly underrated. Have always liked him.
I like the Celtics!
How can anyone say anything but the Warriors? They have not only the best 5 but the best 9.
Bulls?!?! Their starting lineup isn’t even top 2 in their division..
Hot take
Best starting lineup is ….::CLEVELAND
cleveland celtics or 76ers
