The Jazz have traded three starters from last year’s roster so far this offseason, but even after moving Rudy Gobert, Donovan Mitchell, and Royce O’Neale for a boatload of draft picks, the team isn’t necessarily done with its offseason work.
According to Tony Jones of The Athletic, the Jazz continue to engage in trade conversations about a number of their remaining veterans, including Bojan Bogdanovic, Mike Conley and Jordan Clarkson.
In the latest episode of his Please Don’t Aggregate This podcast, Jake Fischer of Bleacher Report confirms that Bogdanovic, Conley, and Clarkson are “definitely on the trade block.” Fischer says he has also gotten the impression that the Jazz would “love to move off” Rudy Gay and has heard Leandro Bolmaro‘s name come up in some trade rumors.
Even beyond those five players, Utah would likely be willing to listen to inquiries on many others members of their roster, including Malik Beasley, according to Fischer. Jarred Vanderbilt is another player the club could theoretically move, though Fischer says a team might have to “knock Utah’s socks off” to acquire the young forward.
Based on the deals they’ve made so far this summer, it’s safe to assume the Jazz would be prioritizing draft assets as they continue to gauge the trade market.
Among Utah’s veterans, Bogdanovic might be the one with the most trade value. He’s on a reasonable $19.55MM expiring contract and is a talented frontcourt scorer, having averaged 18.4 PPG over the last three seasons (204 games) with the Jazz. The 33-year-old forward is also a major threat from beyond the arc — he has made at least 38.7% of his three-point tries in each of the last five seasons.
John Gambadoro of Arizona Sports 98.7 reported on Thursday that the Suns had inquired on Bogdanovic, but Phoenix is hardly the only team with interest. Gambadoro tweeted late last night that several teams, including the Lakers, are eyeing Bogdanovic.
Any trade sending Bogdanovic to the Lakers would have to involve Russell Westbrook for salary-matching purposes, and would require at least one or two other players to go to Los Angeles — the Jazz would likely try to pry away the Lakers’ 2027 and 2029 first-round picks in that scenario, though L.A. has been reluctant to attach more than one first-rounder to Westbrook.
Bogdanovic’s cap hit of nearly $20MM will make it tricky for certain teams to seriously pursue him. For instance, while he might be a good fit in Boston following Danilo Gallinari‘s injury, the Celtics probably can’t make a viable offer for him that doesn’t include at least one key rotation player whose value matches or exceeds Bogdanovic’s.
can somebody explain to me how the Lakers can fit Bogdanvic under their salary cap and what they could trade for him? Please don’t say Westbrook.
article states Westbrook would have to be apart of it. it appears that’s the only way the $ end would work
Would put Conley in the trade too and Lakers send over 2 unprotected draft picks. For the lakers that would be a real big gamble since Conley is on the books for next year.
If the Lakers are giving up both of those picks they will not belong to the Jazz
I’d take the 2027 unprotected pick and the opportunity to buy out Westbrook for Conley and Bogie.
It’d be a good thing for all parties involved. The Lakers would get 2 productive vets that can shoot, the Jazz would get another 1st that would convey after LeBron retires plus the cap relief from Conley’s contract going forward, Westbrook would get another opportunity at a fresh start with a team of his choosing and Conley and Bogie could still play meaningful basketball.
For 1 Lakers draft pick you would give up a 30+ million buyout + Conley + Bojan? That’s a nice humanitarian gesture to all involved but Utah uber passes on that proposal.
They still owe Conley $47 million+ on his current contract. Whereas Westbrook would be a one time $35-40 million dollar cost
Conley is a negative asset today, his inclusion hurts a package not helps
At least Conley would be a better fit than Westbrook. Conley is far less turnover prone and is a better 3 point shooter and free throw shooter compared to Westbrook. Conley is also a more savvy defender compared to Westbrook

I feel like that will end up happening but the Jazz obviously want more as they could theoretically do better trading Conley and Bogdanovic separately. Jazz should push for 2 firsts.
@arc. You on drugs. The Jimmy way the lakers can acquire anything if value is to include Westbrook in the deal. Russ and two number ones should get Conley and Bogs
@dynamite. Who else is in the market or can afford a 20 million dollar player at this juncture?
No disrespect to Conley but unless someone’s really desperate I don’t think so he’s worth a 1st. He’s still owed 47 million and his production fell way off last year.
Yeah but Westbrook is worse. Personally, I think a 3 way with Utah, Lakers, and NY makes sense. There are plenty of undesirable contracts to go around, and not seeing others who would be motivated to gamble there. Westbrook in Utah plus buyout, but Danny has to win all deals, so having NY and their ugly deals to LA. Westbrook to Utah + 2 LAL 1sts and NY 1st and NY 2nd, Bogdonovic to NY, Conley and Fournier to Lakers. Maybe NY gives up more, but that’s the framework
His rebounds and assists equaled his career average and he scored 1 point less than career average. Not peak Conley but serviceable and better than Westbrook.
I wish just to see THT, Clarkson, Westbrook, Sexton and Beasley together. That might be the most selfish guard tandem ever.
If this happens then this will obviously stunt THT’s growth even more. THT is a ball dominant player that can’t shoot and can’t defend.
Mavs need to jump on a combo of Conley Bojan and clarkson
I’d love to have any of them be a 6th man for us
One thing that should be noted Jazz need to drop players in a trade(s) not accumulate them –
These 3 for 1 ‘s will no longer work
Malik, Conley, and Gay as a unit might be underwater so I doubt much comes of that value wise outside being used as salary fillers . Minimal value in Clarkson
Bogs and Vanderbelt will be the targets here leaguewide but it should be a pretty heated market … Doubt Danny wants to settle for a late late 1st for Bogs (w Phx) . Think he will try and go bigger by bundling… 2 really nice players there tho for parcel
Good article. Informative and well written.
That’s Luke Adams quality. Top notch.
The Jazz should be set, Conley and Sexton are a good fit, Beasley, Bogdonavic and Kessler are a good fit.
Markennen, Vanderbilt and Clarkson are good rotational players. Jazz have a nice team even after trading away their two stars.
The Jazz don’t want to be good this year. They want the number 1 pick. Any depth chart at this point has little chance of making it to opening day.
The Jazz are far from being any good as is. They’ll keep Sexton because 4 years/72 million isn’t too bad for a youngish guard with upside. I mean someone has to take shots and run the offense even on a tank. They’ll most likely trade Markkanen for another late 1sts he’s already 25. Kessler and Vanderbilt are both long term development projects
and Clarkson, Conley and Bogie are all win now guys.
Ainge is giving away dollars for pennies as long as you can fulfill his agenda
She shafted the Timberwolves for a suspect offensive player that is overpaid.
He got great return for Mitchell.
And he is still the most likely team to take Westbrook’s contract.
In the end he will have the Timberwolves, Cavs and possibly Lakers unprotected picks through 2029.
Ainge is doing what Trader Danny almost always does, wins trades.
The nets are so poorly run
Clarkson to Raptors
Another day, another Westbrook trade rumor.
I don’t get these values. Paying more than a protected first for Bogs is a bad idea. Unless it’s all the way to 2027 or higher then maybe an unprotected is okay but still unwarranted. Got better on defense last year but over his career has been one of the worse defenders of his whole generation. Still a really good, savvy player though.
I’m taking that Lakers 2027 unprotected for whatever combo the Lakers wanted for Westbrook if I’m the Jazz. I’d give the Lakers Bojan, Beasley, Clarkson and Conley for both picks. Can have all four, no way somebody else is giving 2 unprotected picks for that lot.
Clarkson imo is the most valuable. If I’m the Lakers Clarkson and Beasley offer more than Bojan. What they offer is about 20 3s per 36.
Glad you’re not a GM. You’re a terrible salesman. You put together any group and tear them down like you just did and you’ll never get value for them.
If I were the Jazz, I’d try to trade them all separately. Only combine them if the deal is really good. Otherwise, just keep them as good locker room guys. No sense in just trading them for scraps. Even if they want out, can always trade them later.
Keep in mind, NBA teams can have 15 players on their roster. 17 if you include the 2-way contracts. Juzang is on a 2-way contract. The Jazz can convert any Exhibit 10 players to a 2-way contract. Has to be a one-year minimum contract. Think Paris Bass.
The Jazz usually like to have a roster spot open for players that get waived during the season. They could get down to 14 with two 2-way players.
I’m guessing they’ll do consolidation trades anyway because it’s the time to cash in as much as you can for draft picks and go all in on drafting and development.
What about Conley 22m, Bogdanovic 19m, Clarkson 13m, Gay 5m and two 2nd rd picks for Westbrook 48m, Nunn 5m, Gabriel 2m, Christie 1m,and two 1st rd picks.
Added to the trade above. L Walker 5m to jazz and maybe resign and trade Whiteside 2m to LAL. Perfect trade
