The Warriors are optimistic that second-round pick Ryan Rollins will be ready for training camp, according to Shams Charania and Anthony Slater of The Athletic.
Rollins, who signed a three-year contract in July, was diagnosed with a stress fracture in his right foot shortly after the draft. The Warriors will know more about his status during the next couple of weeks as he ramps up his rehab.
We have more Western Conference info:
- Talen Horton-Tucker, acquired by the Jazz in the Patrick Beverley deal with the Lakers, failed to develop into a 3-and-D role player for his former club, Eric Walden of the Salt Lake Tribune writes. However, the rebuilding Jazz can afford to feature him in more on-ball opportunities and take advantage of his driving ability, where he can create mismatches.
- Pelicans center and Lithuania national team member Jonas Valanciunas created some concern after a postgame press conference at the EuroBasket tournament but it proved to be a minor ailment, Antonis Stroggylakis of Eurohoops.net reports. He limped his way to the locker room and was visibly in some pain but it turned out to be simply muscle cramps.
- Theo Pinson was one of the main culprits why the Mavericks were penalized for their lack of bench decorum during the playoffs. Pinson will need more playing time to justify his spot on the roster during the upcoming season, according to Eddie Sefko of Mavs.com. With Jalen Brunson gone, the 6’5” guard could carve out a bench role, as there are signs he could provide a boost with his shooting.
Talen Tucker he suck
He is a ball dominant player that can’t shoot and can’t defend.
Sounds useful /s
Lakers are going to regret that trade, THT is a big guard at 6’4 235 and only 21, I don’t think he’s heavy set, he has a 7’1 wingspan, nobody could play in the Lakers system last season, so his numbers don’t tell the whole story.
Jazz can give you a few different looks with THT potentially guarding the four, which is not out of his range.
Another good trade for the Jazz, if THT finds a three point shot he’ll be a nice player.
The only look Jazz is going to give this season is the tanking look.
All the Laker draftees have down well when traded away. They gave up a lot for the bubble championship. But that is all they will have to show for those players.
I actually really like THT even coming out of the draft I thought he was a great pick up.
Yes he struggled for the lakers at times but I mean everyone struggled they sucked. Plus he was asked to be a 3 and D wing which isn’t his style of game.
He dropped 40 on the GSW during the regular season when he went 15/28. So he is capable of big nights it just wasn’t his role on the lakers.
I’m hoping he surprises a bunch of people and averages like 18-5-5, that would be really good for him. However the Jazz even for a rebuilding team are loaded at SG so he will be sharing minutes with Bolmaro, Butler, NAW and Agbaji.
Right now, I would rate THT over Agbaji. However, Agbaji will likely take the starting role eventually. THT would be great in the Clarkson role.
NAW could be really good. He just needs to improve his confidence and leadership qualities. That or figure out what kind of player he can be for the Jazz. It’s not really clear right now.
Butler suffers from anxiety, if I had to guess. He should look into adrenaline treatments to help him calm down. He’s really good when he’s comfortable. Could be the starting PG if he continues to develop. Unless they use Sexton as the PG then Butler would be a combo guard off the bench. His future is up in the air. I could see several paths he could take. It’s up to him on and how well he takes care of his health.
The theo pinson part of this article is so untrue lol. He knows he’s not getting minutes and he’s fine with it. He’s only here for an amazing locker room presence
