The Wizards have officially signed undrafted rookie guard Davion Mintz, according to RealGM’s NBA transaction log. We reported shortly after the draft in June that Mintz had agreed to an Exhibit 10 deal with Washington.
Mintz, who finished his college career at Kentucky, spent the last two years with the Wildcats after transferring from Creighton. In those two seasons, he averaged 9.8 PPG, 2.6 RPG, and 2.4 APG with a .362 3PT% in 56 games (27.4 MPG).
As is the case with Quenton Jackson – another newly-signed Wizard who received an Exhibit 10 contract after playing for the team’s Summer League squad – Mintz is a long shot to earn a spot on Washington’s 15-man regular season roster. However, his new deal suggests the Wizards are interested in keeping him in the organization for developmental purposes.
If Mintz doesn’t have his contract converted into a two-way deal, he’ll likely end up becoming an affiliate player for the Capital City Go-Go, the Wizards’ G League team. The Exhibit 10 language in Mintz’s contract makes him eligible for a bonus worth up to $50K if he spends at least 60 days with the Go-Go.
Washington now has 19 players officially under contract — 15 on standard guaranteed deals, one on a two-way pact, and three on Exhibit 10 contracts. The club has room for one more player on its 20-man training camp roster.
Spain got off to a hot start vs Finland in this, the 1st quarterfinal game of this yrs EuroBasket. Finland currently up 5 & in control of the game w/ a few mins left in the 1st. Spain def misses the Gasol bros (esp Pau) but they miss their steady, vet playmakers at pg (Rubio, Sergio, Calderon) more than anything. Finland on the other hand is a spectacular passing team & its showing
Fins been extremely dominant ever since Spain’s 8-2 start. 60ft trey at the 1sr qtr buzzer pushes their lead to 11 as they look to get to the semis for what would have to be the 1st time in their history
Spain started & ended the half on 8-2 runs but were outplayed on both sides of the court for most of the game so far & trail by 9 at half
Hernangomez bros powering Spain’s comeback. They’ve already taken the lead & are up 1 on Finland halfway thru the 3rd.
Garuba’s open trey from the key pushes the Spanish lead to 7 w/ 7mins left. Finland struggled to put up any resistance vs Spain running their offense thru Willy Hernangomez in the 3rd & haven’t yet regained their rhythm here in the 4th. Still alot of time left tho
Lauri just spinned of Juancho beautifully & rose up for a power dunk & was met & turned back at the rim by Willy in savage way. Finland had cut the lead down to 2 & had momentum but that block just snatched it back, Spain currently up 8
The grizzled vet Rudy Fernandez just put this thing on ice with a nasty step back trey to beat the shot clock. 11pt Spanish lead wit abt 100secs left. Lauri (25pts 11rebs) & Finland put up a great fight but Spain executed to perfection in the 2nd half
