The Warriors have opened up both of their two-way contract slots, announcing today (via Twitter) that they’ve waived guards Quinndary Weatherspoon and Lester Quinones. Both players had been on two-way deals.
With Weatherspoon and Quinones on waivers, the four players who are on Exhibit 10 contracts with the Warriors have become prime candidates to fill those newly opened two-way spots. Ty Jerome, Jerome Robinson, Pat Spencer, and Anthony Lamb are all eligible to have their Exhibit 10 deals converted into two-ways.
The 49th overall pick in the 2019 draft, Weatherspoon signed a two-way contract with the Warriors in January after spending his first two years in the NBA with San Antonio. The 26-year-old appeared in 11 games for Golden State, averaging 2.7 PPG and 1.3 RPG in 6.6 MPG.
Quinones, meanwhile, agreed to a two-way deal with the Warriors after going undrafted out of Memphis in June. Quinones averaged 10.0 PPG, 3.5 RPG, 1.3 APG and 1.2 SPG during his junior season in 2021/22, shooting 44.9% from the field and making 39.0% of his three-point attempts.
Golden State has until Monday to set its roster for the regular season.
Was expecting Lester Quinones to get Waived, but Quindary is a bit of a surprise.
I know the team is high on Pat Spencer and Ty Jerome.
Those 2 are the likely favorites to receive the new 2-Way contracts. Its interesting though that there is no mention of Trevion Williams. Have not heard much since the team waived him last week.
Watching Spencer and Jerome so far makes me wonder why on earth they let McClung get away.
Williams would also be better than either of them IMO.
NBA, did you watch the Blazer game. Sure, everyone looked good but Spencer was especially good. Of everyone listed in the story, he played the best. He was better than McClung had looked not counting summer league. They at least all looked better than Chiozza. Cmon man, you had to get a laugh out of that.
I do agree that they need to bring in Williams. he’s available
I agree Spencer had a good game. But he also got 10 more minutes than McClung played before they waived him.
true. when I saw McClung in summer league I was excited to have him. oh well
With McClung I think it was a minutes thing. I think he wanted more minutes/opportunity, and didn’t want a 2-way so they released him early to pursue opportunities.
I don’t get the McClung hype at all.
Watching these two guys play I Am surprised they are not NBA players. Will they get picked up elsewhere or am I off base and they are they just G leagers who get called up here and there? Seems to me they’re pretty darn good.
I had read that they were pretty high on Weatherspoon.
Witherspoon is limited offensively but a team that has a need for a defensive minded guard as a 12th-14th guy could do worse than to pick him up.
Quinones seems like just another guy to me (which is why he went undrafted).
I assume this means the Warriors are sticking to their plan to keep the 15th roster spot open.
noooooo not weatherspoon
Trevion to Blazers please
