Several teams have expressed interest in Suns forward Jae Crowder and there’s speculation that a trade could get done soon, according to Eric Pincus of Bleacher Report. Crowder, who had been a starter during his first two years in Phoenix, is working out on his own while he waits for a deal to be completed.
The Bucks, Hawks and Warriors are among the most prominent suitors for Crowder, sources tell Pincus, and an unidentified executive believes the final version of the deal could include as many as five teams.
Pincus hears that Milwaukee has offered Grayson Allen for Crowder, while Atlanta is willing to part with some combination of Bogdan Bogdanovic, Justin Holiday and John Collins. The Suns don’t have any immediate interest in either of those offers, Pincus adds.
As reported earlier today by Jake Fischer of Yahoo Sports, the Rockets could play an important role in a multi-team deal. Shams Charania of Yahoo Sports stated last week that Phoenix had interest in Kenyon Martin Jr., and Pincus speculates that veteran guard Eric Gordon could also be included in a trade that sends Crowder and Dario Saric to another team. Pincus hears that Houston would want “real value” to get involved, whether it’s in the form of young talent or draft assets.
The Warriors could be a team to watch in the Crowder sweepstakes if they’ve become more willing to unload some of their young players after an 8-10 start, Pincus writes. Golden State’s defense has regressed after losing Gary Payton II and Otto Porter in free agency, and Crowder is the type of multi-positional defender who could fix those issues.
The Warriors also need help with rebounding after falling from seventh to 25th in the league in that category, and rival executives expect them to target another big man as well as a defensive wing. Pincus cites Myles Turner and Jakob Poeltl as possibilities, though the Pacers may decide to keep Turner after their strong start. The Spurs are limited to less than $13MM as the starting point for an extension offer to Poeltl, and the team may be inclined to trade him rather than risk losing him in free agency.
Golden State would have to send out nearly $16MM in salary to acquire both Crowder and Poeltl, but it’s limited in what it can offer until Donte DiVincenzo, JaMychal Green, Andre Iguodala and Kevon Looney become trade-eligible later this season.
Pincus offers a sample trade in which send the Warriors send James Wiseman and Ryan Rollins to the Spurs, while the Rockets get Jonathan Kuminga from Golden State and Saric from Phoenix. Another Pincus suggestion has the Warriors keeping Kuminga while shipping Moses Moody and either Patrick Baldwin or Rollins to the Rockets, while San Antonio gets Baldwin or Rollins along with Wiseman.
Considering that was pretty much to potential trade the Warriors were going to send to get Durant, this is ridiculous
Bleacher Report is an awful media company who employs and prints opinions of really poor quality analysts. Eric Pincus is a Suns homer who is terrified of the massive amount of talent GSW currently has and is trying to break it up, logic and reason be damned.
Eric Pincus is a leading expert on NBA player contracts and the league’s Collective Bargaining Agreement, actually.
He also covered the LAKERS, not the Suns.
Be grateful you have the ability to put your own garbage takes out there into the AEther. The only difference is you’ll never get paid for them.
Pincus has actually suggested this exact trade for Durant as a possibility, with Draymond “going to a 3rd team” to match salaries.
GSW is trying to repeat and are only 3 games out of 1st in the west, so they aren’t going to trade any of the core.
I highly doubt that they think an aging Crowder is worth losing Wiseman for.
Heroic post
Pincus is ok but BR is one step above NBA analysis network throwing out Steph trades and ones that dont even work with financial rules where its pure click bait with no thought to realistic trades…
LOL. That wouldn’t be CLOSE to the price for Durant. For starters, the required salary match would be over $20 million short.
It was that plus Wiggins for salary and picks too…
Considering GSW are 1-9 on the road and the only win was a lucky win(Klay&Steph heave and sink 3pt games) I’m not surprised they’re contemplating moving some of their kids.
One of Kumminga, Moody or Wiseman they would probably be ok with letting go if they can get real contribution vets because they’d still have the other two. It’s not out of the question based on their away record being below poor.
Nope.
“Pincus offers a sample trade in which send the Warriors send James Wiseman and Ryan Rollins to the Spurs, while the Rockets get Jonathan Kuminga from Golden State and Saric from Phoenix. ”
No Wiggins in that suggestion. Also no picks.
There is no F***ing way GSW are shipping a #2/7/14 picks for 2 expiring contracts that they wont be able to resign for financial reasons. They arent sending out every young player on the team for that trash.
Sign a vet to the 15th and have Iggy try to play and retire if he cant. 2 vets off the FA/BO market is all this team needs. Not giving up 15 years of cost controlled players for that.
Jae also wouldnt start in GSW over Wiggins so wasnt that his whole beef in PHX?
At most it would be Ryan Rollins for Jae straight up. This is crack+copium.
Yeah, I read this, and instantly was just like WTF!?!
There is absolutely no way this is true, especially from a franchise that is ran so well, much less from one that is always so conscious about their future.
The ONLY WAY they would empty out their future reserves and trade them all away is if they each stood in line, one by one and slapped Curry, Steve Kerr, Myers, and Lacob all in the face and told them to shove it. Okay, then, maybe!?! lol
Even then, though, they’d still get back a better return than what the article is talking about.
I’d expect to see that idiotic pf a trade proposal on the comments section here, not posted in an article. What a joke.
I agree they wouldn’t do it, but not because they couldn’t re-sign the players. They wouldn’t because it would be idiotic.
Tune in tomorrow for the next installment of Jaes Of Our Lives.
As The Crowder Trade Talk Turns
I get that he is at the top of available trade target ranks but I just feel like what teams are rumored to be offering is generous and the suns seemingly holding out for more is silly. I don’t think they will get anything close to what is being reported here.
When did Jae Crowder become this demi-god trade target?
He’s a winning player who fits todays NBA
Hes a bum
Eric Pincus and Bleacher Report have absolutely zero clue, he’s completely shafting GSW for two guys who honestly dont have that much trade value.
Crowder and Poeltl for Rollins and Donte in a multi-teamer is all GSW needs to provide here. Kuminga? Lmao. His trade value is utterly massive, KD-level.
These takes are adorable.
If by adorable you mean awful, then yes, I agree..
It has to be parody, right? I mean last week it was Kuminga is Lebron 2.0 and now it is Kuminga has Durant level trade value. Only in a world where basketball skills and IQ have no importance and where hallucinogenics are consumed like water would anyone think of putting Kuminga in the same category as Lebron or Durant
Meanwhile the guy lost 20+ games already with more to come.
The Suns haven’t missed him.
If I was the Warriors I’d do a trade because the Warriors 2nd unit sucks I’m sorry. Plus the Warriors will not repeat this year unless they do some some kind of trade they need a big man and they need defensive guys.
Why are the Bulls not getting in on this? Surely Suns wouldn’t mind cashing in someone not playing for them for scoring punch off the bench with Coby White? He could use a change of scenery and benefit the same way Cameron Payne did. Bulls of course get better rebounding and more consistent 3 & D from a vet like Crowder, big enough to play PF and give P. Williams more time to develop in bench role. Bulls also have some assets to make a 3 team deal work, too, if Suns don’t want what they’re offering straight up.
Probably because the Bulls aren’t sure what they’re going to do this year, if I’m the bulls I’d trade Ball for a fit pass first good level PG. even if he isn’t the level Ball is it’ll make them a contender without the worry of when or if their starting PG returns. Long term loss short term gain, considering Demars age it’s the right call.
All Warriors need to do is play Kuminga and Wiseman more. Both will give them what they are missing. Just have to endure some growing pains. Amazing how 18 gms in. And the fanatics, analysts. experts, geniuses. All are counting teams out.
By that logic. We can Expect the Jazz to be Champions this yr.
You must not watch much ball Al, Wiseman is not a good or even average NBA player right now. The skills and raw talent are there, sure. Problem is, his IQ is far, far behind. Which is understandable, considering how litrle basketball he has played in the last 3/4 years. He needs to play and develop a natural feel for the game, so the G League is absolutely the right move for Wiseman. Could have and should have been done sooner, tbh.
Kuminga, yes he can contribute to winning basketball right now, although he is still raw as well and will make young mistakes which could hurt a contending team.
G league for life !
To me Suns are fools to move Crowder. But obviously something has gone wrong with him there. I can’t see them having problems moving him. He can help teams. So this only explains Suns disfunction.
Imo this is CP3 last yr at a title. So to see this ineptitude for this team to focus on a title. Only means they will blow this chance. Too bad, cause I really wanted to see Suns in Finals.
The Warriors have been quietly shopping Draymond. There is no doubt. The Warriors are trying to do it in such a way that they don’t get young players or even draft picks back.
They are trying to change out the engine while flying.
Any idea why every year Collins is on trading block? On paper, is he not more valuable compare to Crowder? I would always stay away from a player like that though when a team continues to offer him up. Reminds me of when Okafor was a Sixers and same happened.
