The NBA has fined Warriors power forward JaMychal Green $20K for shouting expletives at a referee near the end of Wednesday’s 130-119 loss to the Suns in Phoenix, the league announced in a statement (Twitter link).
Green has been somewhat underwhelming for the somewhat underwhelming 6-9 reigning champs this season, averaging 4.8 PPG on .411/.227/.857 shooting splits and 4.5 RPG across 17.0 MPG. He was signed to a veteran’s minimum deal to help replace reserve forward Otto Porter Jr., who left Golden State over the summer to ink a two-year, $12.4MM deal with the Raptors.
The 32-year-old Green is a career 36.4% three-point shooter, though he has made just 26.0% during the last two seasons. Against the Suns on Wednesday, Green scored two points on 1-of-7 shooting and pulled down two boards in 17 minutes of action.
The 6’8″ reserve will next suit up for Golden State on Friday against the Knicks.
That form of his is hideous. Can’t believe he makes a single 3 at all. But here’s hoping he turns it around.
But if not I’m sure the Warriors are currently brainstorming to improve their roster, in whatever way that may be…
@gary You guys said the Warriors should spend $120 million on Jordan Poole even though he can’t play defense. The Warriors won 4 championship based on their defense. You guys are idiots. You guys have to wake up.
Oh my gawd. The Warriors traded away so many assets to obtain C. Webb. That was a disaster.
Hell. I hope the Warriors pay his fine. They need this sort of energy. Jordan Poole needs to get the message. He isn’t that special. Shooting 3s ain’t that special. The Warriors won 4 Championship because of their defense. Jordan Poole has to step up and prove he can be worthy of his contract. Any body that doesn’t think the Warriors won because of their defense is an idiot. You hate Draymond Green. But, he did what the Warriors needed. Steph Curry said he was the heart and soul of the Warriors.
Maybe if the guy who plays ahead of Jordan and costs 40 million a year would start playing some D and hitting some shots….can’t get by on the past forever
@Lionel We have gone over this before. Klay plays better defense than Jordan. Poole hasn’t proven he can play consistent defense. Until he proves he can be consistent, why start him?
If you are a real Warriors fan, you know what strength in numbers means. Jordan Poole has to step up. He got this huge contract because he would carry on how the Warriors won 4 Championships. Looney is best Warriors player right now. Can Jordan Poole step up to the standard that Looney has set. I know there are certain people that don’t understand this. A’sFan and Michol should go away.
Lame.
Very disappointed in your behavior…. For awhile thought you were knowledgeble fair Warriors fan, but you are just another narrow minded egotistical loser.
People can have different opinions. Warriors ownership, FO, and coaches believes in Poole. So should they all go away???? Poole needs to step up for sure, but dont forget he is still earning $2.5m this year. Additionally, dont forget that his fellow draftees like Herro, Barrett, Simon, and Brunson also signed 9 figure extensions. Finally, did Curry play defense in his 3rd or 4th year? Give Poole a chance to develop and root for the kid. Iggy affirms that he is a great “character” guy and works the hardest. You will have plenty time to 2nd guess the extension after a year or two into his 4 yr contract.
You are confused. People get all excited about Poole’s shooting. He is a great shooter. But, the Warriors won Championship because of their defense. Are you really going to tell me that the Warriors would have won a Championship if they didn’t trade for Andrew Bogut? Seriously. The Warriors didn’t have have a legit Center for 40 years. Did they win anything. They had lots of great shooters. The Warriors have had plenty of great shooters, but not a lot of Championship.
Warriors used #2 pick on a center and signed Looney to a well deserved extension over GP2. So what are you complaining about? Yes, Poole is a bit overpaid but that’s the current market and I do believe Warriors had to sign both Poole and Wiggins to extensions. Remember that both of them are young tradable assets.
You are criticizing me for my attitude. But, you keep criticizing James Wiseman. You keep saying he has to produce right now. People who know more about Basketball than you say to give him a few more seasons. When you learn more about Basketball, you will know I am right.
I am a Wiseman fan and want him to succeed, but I do want him to be focused, attentive, and contribute to the current Warriors team as well as the future. I do not like it when young high paid centers who feel entitled and start shooting 3 pointers instead of playing defense, rebounding, and blocks. How difficult can it be for him to play some D like Looney? Yes, he’s young and needs time to develop, but dont forget he’s 21 now making $10-12m a yr. His defense can make a difference on this yr’s team.
Iggy has said. Players don’t get a chance to fully develop these days. Will you give James Wiseman a chance to develop
I am glad he will be playing everyday in the GLeague. He can take another 2-3 yrs to develop or even longer, but do remember that he’s making $10-12m a year and Warriors have luxury tax issues. Warriors have already guaranteed next yr’s contract for $12.1m and he will want another hefty extension next offseason. What do you suggest Warriors do? Finally, Curry is not getting any younger and he wants to win couple more titles. We do need Wiseman to play some D down the stretch this year. Let’s hope for the best!
Be realistic. Shaquille O’Neal was entering his Senior year at LSU, at Wiseman’s age. You have to be patient. The Warriors drafted 4 big men in 1980. They traded away 3 of them. 2 of them are in the hall of fame. 3 became all stars. The Warriors sucked in the 80’s.
Poole should definitely be better but he’s being paid around 5 million this season whilst the guard who starts and costs 8 times that has been terrible
These young guys have to be called out. They have to understand what it takes to win a Championship. A’sFan doesn’t get it. Michelle doesn’t get it.
I don’t care. If the Warriors suck this year it is fine, the Warriors Front Office will find out which of these young guys want to get better. Jordan Poole with his big contract needs to lead the way.
Post a few more times, buddy.
I’m waiting for you to come up with a solution on how to improve the Warriors. I have heard all your complaints.
I’d say the vets like Green and Thompson should lead the way. Klay especially has been way worse than he used to be. The team is much worse when we plays based on their record the last two seasons. Poole is much better as a starter averaging 29 a game in 3 starts this season
@lionel Poole needs to improve his defense and he turns the ball over to much.
Otto Porter Jr. > Jamychal Green
Gary Payton II > Donte Divincenzo
GP2 hasnt played a single game this year, and Porter has been injury proned so far.
Gary PaytonII hasn’t played a single game this season at $14million a year. Donte Divencenzo has played more games in his first 2 seasons in the NBA than GPII played in 8 seasons. So, you want to give $28 million to a guy that socks.
Im talking about fit
You gotta play to fit
Im talking about fit
Porter been kinda trash when he’s even able to play but I hope he can settle in. Just realized every Porter in the league right now is a Porter Jr!
Lot of you nut jobs don’t get it. The Warriors have won 5 Championship during my lifetime. They almost folded several times. Why do you think they are called ‘Golden State’?
You’re drunk
Man, having watched all of Denver’s past few seasons’ games I knew Green wasn’t who the Warriors were saying he is.
About the signing the front office and coaches were raving about his shooting. He’s a great vet for sure but his game is energy and offensive rebounds. His shooting had fallen off a cliff a good few years ago. Makes me wonder who scouts these players.
Everyone here complaining about had bad the Warriors looked against the Suns but they forget the Suns are a top 3 team in the division. Thompson, Poole and Draymond all had bad games and they only lost by 10 points. All the drama around the team is in their heads right now. The next 6 games will tell if they are going to compete this year or fade.
