Derrick Rose has seen his playing time drop and he didn’t play at all on Sunday, Rose said Knicks coach Tom Thibodeau decided to give second-year guard Miles McBride a closer look, Stefan Bondy of the New York Daily News tweets. McBride played 16 scoreless minutes against Cleveland.
“(Thibodeau) said he wanted to give a Deuce a look. That’s all he told me. So I understood,” the veteran Knicks guard said.
Considering Rose’s $15,596,339 salary for next season includes a club option, the Knicks could look to move Rose to a team in need of a backup point guard.
We have more from the Atlantic Division:
- The Raptors need to solve their perimeter shooting woes in order to make a move up the standings, Josh Lewenberg of TSN writes. Toronto is shooting just 33% from deep, with Fred VanVleet (34%), Gary Trent Jr. (33.6%) and Scottie Barnes (32.1%) among those underperforming. “We’re not really where we need to be,” VanVleet said. “It’s not a bad place to be, we’ve just got to make that jump if we want to be a great team.”
- The Nets’ Ben Simmons is hopeful he can return to action against Atlanta on Friday, Nick Friedell of ESPN tweets. Simmons has been out since Nov. 28 due to knee soreness. He’s averaging 8.5 points, 6.6 rebounds and 5.8 assists per game this season.
- Another Nets player, Yuta Watanabe, is hopeful he can return to action on Friday or Saturday this week, Friedell adds in another tweet. Recovering from a hamstring injury, he recently got some 3-on-3 work in. Watanabe, who is a one-year minimum contract, hasn’t played since Nov. 20. He averaged 14.5 points during a four-game stretch prior to suffering the injury.
I know they were linked with him a little while ago but SGA. He’s from Canada and he’s been playing phenomenal this season.
SGA and Kenrich Williams for OG, Trent Jr and 2 firsts
Then just for some roster balance, Thad Young for Justin Holiday and a second round pick.
FVV SGA Barnes Siakim Precious
Flynn Holiday Williams Porter Boucher
Banton Champagnie Hernagomez Koloko
That’s a very very solid team
Siakim is a beast he’s quietly putting up 24.5-9-7, pair that with SGA who is putting up a ridiculous 31-5-6. These two guys are all nba talents and will lead the way. Behind them you have Scottie Barnes, already a very good defender but also putting up 15-7-5. FVV is currently giving you 16-6-4 and then you have the bunch of really good role players.
This raptors team can just attack you in so many different ways and exploit any mismatches.
I just think they are so hard to match up against.
Just for example against the bucks who are arguably the best team in the league.
You have Siakim and Giannis, as far as guarding Giannis goes it’s near impossible but Pascal matches up with him better than most.
Kris Middleton vs Scottie Barnes, I feel like these two basically cancel each other out. I would give the edge to Kris but Scottie has that passing ability like a point guard and Kris don’t have that.
Then you have Jrue vs Shai, that’s a extremely tough one. I’ll call that even to be quick.
FVV is way better than whoever they play at the 2 but in saying than Lopez is better than anyone the raptors have at the 5.
So it comes down to the bench, Portis is the best bench player out of either side but after him I’d have Boucher, Otto Porter and J Holiday over any of the bucks guys.
Then when it comes down to coaching I do like Mike Bud but Nick Nurse is just better personally.
The thing that hurts this team is the lack of a true quality 5 but Precious gives his all, Koloko when called upon goes hard, Bouchers small ball 5 minutes are really good. Idk I’d just live to see the raptors go hard.
Even if it doesn’t reap the rewards straight away SGA and Barnes as your future duo that’s a great place to be in.
The Knicks rotation should stay at 9 players that includes McBride.
Though our best defensive lineup is Grimes/Cam/McBride/Quickley/Mitch
Followed by Brunson who can replace Quickley in that lineup but we would be small regardless without a pf, but Cam would cover that spot. Play that group with Brunson only on a defense needed last seconds of a quarter/game.
