Warriors guard Donte DiVincenzo says that the Bucks and Milwaukee will always hold a special place in his heart, Dalton Johnson of NBC Sports Bay Area writes. DiVincenzo won a championship with the Bucks two seasons ago before being traded to Sacramento in a deadline deal last season.
DiVincenzo, who signed a two-year contract with the Warriors as a free agent over the summer, is looking forward to tonight’s game at Milwaukee: “They opened the door to the NBA for me. I can play for every team in the NBA. No matter what, I’m still always going to have that special love for the organization, for that front office for giving me my first shot in the NBA. That goes with the fans as well.”
We have more from the Pacific Division:
- Suns interim governor Sam Garvin is confident the front office will get a solid offer for Jae Crowder, who is sitting out while he awaits a trade. “(GM James Jones and his staff have) had a lot of discussions with a lot of teams that are interested in Jae. As James said, there’s no magic wand of a timeline,” Garvin told Duane Rankin of the Arizona Republic (subscription required). “It’s going to happen when it’s going to happen, but I think Jae is going to go somewhere and do well and I think we’re going to get value for Jae.” Garvin addresses other topics in the Q&A, including Jones’ extension and the team’s inability to sign Cameron Johnson to an extension.
- Suns star guard Devin Booker will sit out for the second straight game on Tuesday due to left hamstring tightness, Rankin writes in a separate story. Booker also missed Phoenix’s overtime loss to New Orleans on Sunday. Booker has a history of hamstring issues, Rankin notes.
- Malik Monk has a reputation of being a scorer but the Kings are also using him more as a play-maker, according to Spencer Davies of Basketball News. Monk is not only averaging a career-best 14.4 points per game but also 3.8 assists. His 2.9 APG with the Lakers last season represented a career high. “We’re just try to move it, move the defense as much as possible,” Monk said. “But they can’t help off me as much ’cause I can shoot. They can’t help off of (Domantas Sabonis) that much because he’s a big threat rolling. So whatever they do is going to be wrong, and I’ve just been making the right reads this year.” Monk signed a two-year, $19.4MM contract with Sacramento as a free agent.
Warriors lose again. I can’t believe there were Bay Area homers calling the team a “dynasty” before the start of the season. Hardly. We saw tonight that the Bucks are a much better team. The Celtics were spent last spring after beating the best team in the league and don’t get me started on Dirty Draymond’ tactics = cheating during the playoffs. The 90s Bulls were a dynasty, the early 2000s Lakers were a dynasty. The Warriors have lost as many big games as they’ve won, and they certainly haven’t won in consecutive years in the same way the Bulls did. Sorry but I just can’t stand many of the players on the team, especially Curry (selfish offence only player), Draymond, Thompson (-Personality). I really hope there is no more talk about dynasty.
I hear what you’re saying and not everybody likes the warriors or their style.
But I’ve been a fan since the 80’s and I think 4 championships in the last 8 years is pretty close to a dynasty, especially since it’s been the same core.
But you don’t have to agree, that’s okay. They look at the team they have and the players they have and they play to their strengths, which is outside shooting and offense.
Steph Curry is not going to win any Defender Of The Year trophies and Draymond Green is not going to win citizen of the year awards. They do what they can.
It works for me and I respect how they do it. I think Curry is definitely leading an exemplary life in character, conduct, and as a teammate. But I respect your comment. Keep them coming.
Oh and yes point taken. Warriors got spanked by the Bucks tonight. Milwaukee looks strong.
Wow. Somebody has some unresolved issues. Unlike the Celtics, the Warriors had rookies in their rotation. And the Warriors spanked the Celtics a couple of days ago. At the same time, the Bucks lost to that juggernaut in the Lone Star State know as the Houston Rockets..One game doesn’t make a season.
I’m not a betting man, but I won’t be surprised if GSW makes a deep run or even wins it all again this year. Not a fan of the team or any of the players really, but they’ll put it together by playoff time.
“The Celtics were spent last spring after beating the best team in the league” Lol such a lame excuse. Celtics beat a Bucks team without Middleton. Last year Celtics were overrated. After being up 2-1 and everybody were saying Warriors were done, Warriors won 3 straight and embarrassed Celtics on their home court.
The core of Warriors have won 4 titles in 8 years, that’s looks like a dynasty to me. And one regular season game doesn’t prove anything. People said the same thing mid season last year that the Warriors were done and look what happened.
Curry’s defense is always brought up as a negative but his defense has actually improved over the years. He’s at least an above average defender. He was actually decent on defense at last years finals.
