Some league executives believe the Warriors will make one or more of their recent lottery picks available in trade talks this season, says Steve Bulpett of Heavy.com. One of those execs told Bulpett that he thinks we could see James Wiseman or Jonathan Kuminga on the trade block, with Golden State seeking another reliable veteran to plug into the team’s rotation.
“(The Warriors) think (the young players) are decent enough talent-wise, but they just don’t think they can put those kids on the floor and execute,” the executive said. “They recognize their talent and their athletic ability; they just don’t have the execution piece.
“And their logic is this: they only have X number of years of Steph Curry‘s elite level of play, and they don’t want to waste any of it. So far those two kids have just not developed in the same way Jordan Poole has, and I would think there’s somebody out there who’ll say, ‘Yeah, I’ll take one of those young guys and see if I can’t, with patience, get them to develop.'”
The exec went on to say that he doesn’t think it would take a star player to pry one of those youngsters away from the Warriors, arguing that the defending champions simply need a solid veteran who can be counted on and is “not going to get in the stars’ way.”
Here’s more from around the Pacific:
- Warriors forward Draymond Green had an altercation with a fan in Milwaukee on Tuesday and claimed after the game that the fan said “some threatening things to my life,” according to Kendra Andrews of ESPN. The fan was ultimately kicked out of the arena after Green told a referee what happened, but the former Defensive Player of the Year expressed frustration that there aren’t more repercussions for that sort of behavior. “There are no real consequences,” Green said. “Yeah, you can’t come back to the game, or even if you get arrested, nothing really happens … you just hope it gets to a point where these leagues can work with legislators to implement laws, because that’s the only thing that’s really going to correct the issue.”
- Deandre Ayton (left ankle sprain) and Devin Booker (left hamstring tightness) are listed as questionable for the Suns‘ game on Thursday vs. the Clippers, tweets Gerald Bourguet of GoPhnx.com. Booker has missed Phoenix’s last two games, but said on Tuesday that he feels “healthy” and “strong,” per Duane Rankin of The Arizona Republic, so his return appears imminent. The team will be without point guard Cameron Payne, who left Tuesday’s loss due to a right foot sprain, Bourguet adds.
- Bill Plaschke of The Los Angeles Times and Mirjam Swanson of The Southern California News Group argue that the Lakers owe it to LeBron James and Anthony Davis to make a trade to upgrade the team’s supporting cast, given how well the stars are playing and how little help they’ve had.
I highly doubt Kuminga will get traded. Moody or Wiseman could get traded but not Kuminga. Kuminga fits the warriors rotation more than the others.
That exec if full of it. The only way either are getting dealt is for someone able to play in the playoff rotation, and the number of players that make matching salary for either and are good enough to play in the playoffs is super small…
The GSW cant add most good players since most make more than they can match salary wise. You cant even get to matching for Miles Turner without every kid on the roster.
The team just doesnt have matching contracts and those guys by themselves get you a TPMLE player which probably isnt someone capable in a playoff rotation.
i do not see anyone but Wiseman who may be traded. Moody has such a little amount you can’t get back a player that would matter. There is no reason to trade kuminga because he is a future star with his good defense.
Lol….Anthony Davis should worry more about his free throws than adding stars. That alone cost them 2 Ls recently.
Would Draymond really like to see people do actual prison time for heckling players?
No probably just banned for life.
We don’t need ” legislators to implement laws” for this. Just ban them.
Permanent ban like flying on planes. Threatening a player is crossing the line. The guy was not heckling but threatened Green. Big difference.
While I get yes they should be banned if there is proof that the fan said it. Which I’m assuming there was because no one stuck up to the fan. Now as far as the law that is a slippery slope because of first amendment. I’m just saying. Now that being said there is nothing stopping him to getting a bodyguard
When you buy a ticket you are under the rules of the venue. No different than kicking out protesters at a political event. Free speech has always had limits or where you can use it. In a public place but not at a private arena.
The stadium should have rules and ban fans that act egregiously, the government sucks at making roads, they will mess this up too
I know I would… wouldn’t you???
Green punches people in the face with no consequences. But that’s cool.
I believe the word we are looking for is hypocrisy or hypocrite.
Just stop. There were consequences, still are impacts, and there will be long term ramifications…and everyone knew it wasn’t cool. The entire world was on fire with it. People should quit stirring old stuff up. It was an internal thing and you’re not invited to family dinner where they clear the air and mete out justice.
It’s the NBA, not Real Housewives or Kardashians.
Why would I stop when I can wind you up so easily?
“the entire world was on fire with it”
OK.
Whatever rings your little bells, dude. Have fun.
Yeah, I already knew that, and I do.
Did he get fined? Yes Did the fan get fined? NO Did the fan break the rules? YES Who kicked out the fan? Ref did when Green told the Ref what was said to him.
Knew someone was going to make this horrible comparison. Not surprised at all it was you.
I don’t even know who you are.
Thanks for the props.
Caruso and Drummond for Kuminga and Wiseman works in Trade Machine. 8)
it doesn’t work in the real world. Caruso makes $9 million so they could throw in Vucevic and Williams to make the money work.
Do you mean talent wise? Caruso and Wiseman make almost the same salary.
Caruso for Wiseman even up but you wouldn’t throw in Kuminga even if Drummond was included.
Stick & Stones Draymond, I know you need reminding, but you punch instead of using your words. For less than a threat to your life. Poole probably told you to shut-up, or asked something rhetorical like; do you ever stop talkng? You should be forced to go through the process first before saying legal punishment isn’t enough. Sounds like big talk from a naive kid. Hard to have respect for this kind of arrogance
It’s a bit harsh comparing Pooles development to Kuminga when in his 2nd year he was getting more mins and a lot more usage with Steph and Klay injured while only being marginally better than Kuminga is RN. Agree he’s not looking much better than LY but he’s not really getting the chances. Most teams in the league will be making calls on him if this is true.
Pooles problem is Kerr using him as a PG when he is a SG. Pooles doesn’t have the handle to be a PG. Payton 2 was a better PG than Poole. Warriors biggest need is a good PG when Curry is on the bench.
Agreed, Poole can be an elite shooter and scorer, just seems he’s misused at times. It shows with the way he’s been playing since moving to the starting line up recently.
Kinda reminds me of Harden back at OKC. Pushed to 3rd by Westbrook and KD(with good reason). And will probably blow up in a different team as a lead option.
Poole has to handles to be a point guard just not the vision.
He also has the quickness and the shooting and the ability to get to the hole but he is not a natural point guard and someone who can set up his teammates to be better.
It’s not just the court vision. He’s also not quick enough decision wise to make “the right pass” or control the games tempo, he sometimes looks like he’s trying to rush the ball or force a pass. In the end he’ll give up and play iso.
Can be a very good 2 and secondary handler. but keep pushing him to the PG even in 2nd unit will only hurt his progression. Again I agree with ARC 2 they need a good level back up PG.
What could Poole have said that would make Green appear as a responsible, rational adult, and not a loud-mouth, egomaniacal, child? Does the world work different than sending people to jail for assault? Why didn’t the State of California charge him? They charge YouTubers with past crimes if posted in their videos? Especially the cannon-ballers. Just as nobody cares what I have to say in a comment section, what were you hoping to change, or illuminate? Just trollin’ huh?
Bring up Wiseman NOW and let him play! That’s enough of suffering in GLeague….
Where the heck is Iggy???!!!
Warriors are fools to move either one. I’d move Poole and Moody first ……
Wiseman as a rebounder and rim protector alone. Is enough to get them back in Finals. Warriors offense has been around long enough. That good teams have adjusted. What always put Warriors over the top. Was their ability to play team D. All their chips were won cause they played D. Wiseman more than anyone. Can make them a top D team.
I was a rebuilding team. I’d be trying to get Wiseman for sure. …..
I don’t feel like reading that last article by Bill and Mirjam lol, but I REALLY hope it mentions the contributions of Lonnie Walker.
It hasn’t just been The Brows excellent play that has fueled this comeback by the Lakers its been getting some role players healthy, and ESPECIALLY Lonnie Walker stepping his game up consistently!!
