Warriors star Stephen Curry, who was diagnosed earlier this month with a left shoulder subluxation, is “making good progress” in his recovery, the team announced today in a brief press release (Twitter link).
The Warriors declined to offer any specifics on Curry’s rehab process, simply stating that he’ll be reevaluated in two weeks.
That means the former MVP will remain sidelined through at least January 7, making him unavailable for the team’s next seven games. In all likelihood, Curry will miss more games beyond that, since he’s unlikely to be cleared to return immediately after being reevaluated.
The Warriors’ update doesn’t come as a surprise, since reports around the time of Curry’s diagnosis on December 15 suggested he was expected to remain on the shelf for at least three or four weeks and could potentially miss a month or more.
Golden State has struggled without Curry, dropping three of its last four games. All three of those losses were by double digits, including a 38-point shellacking in New York on Tuesday, followed by a 30-point blowout in Brooklyn on Wednesday. After three days off, the Warriors will be back in action on Christmas Day, hosting the ascendant Grizzlies.
Warriors need to go 5 and 3 on the current home stand. If they go less than its going to be a tough uphill to get out of the play in playoffs.
The Warriors biggest issue is 2nd unit defense. Playoff success is dependent on how the young guys play. They’ll have Donte and Wiggins back for the rest of the homestand. Wiseman is starting to put together some good games. Iggy will be back for the 2nd half to give the 2nd unit some leadership. They still have that roster spot to bring in a buyout veteran. I think the Warriors will be alright.
How much minutes Iggy played since is back ?
You obviously don’t follow the Warriors do you. The plan from before training camp was to have him ready for the second half and playoffs. They publicly stated this. It is not a secret.
Iggy’plan is to be GSW’mascot
Is that supposed to be a joke.
Ask the dub fanbase to back you down about Iggy’role after a hip injury at age 38 … You Homer have no humour
Ask the dub fan base to back you down? Can you speak English? What does that mean? Do you know the severity of his injury? They probably only need him for like 10 minutes a night. I don’t see why he can’t be useful.
Sorry i meant ‘back you up’ … I don’t know about Curry’injury, i just know that the dubs need him more than 30mn to win again.
The Dubs had there best stretch when games when Draymond came off the bench worked with 2nd unit.
Having Donte is a big boost to the second unit. He takes pressure off Poole handling the ball.
The thing I like most about Donte is his leadership. He wants to get the young guys on the 2nd unit to be as vocal on defense as the starting 5 are. He may not put up the biggest numbers this season. But, if he can get that ingrained in those guys, he will have a great season.
Don’t rush it Steph. Get well get strong.
Warriors are defending champs. They will weather this. As long as health doesn’t play a part. Guys playing now are learning. A full healthy team. Which they should be in second half. Is a very good and dangerous team.
