The Raptors offered guard Fred VanVleet a four-year, $114MM extension prior to the season and it was never formally “rejected,” a source told Michael Grange of Sportsnet.ca (Twitter link). Instead, the two sides mutually decided to wait, with no specific deadline set.
Josh Lewenberg of TSN Sports was the first to report the Raptors’ extension offer. VanVleet can become a free agent this summer if he declines his $22,824,074 option.
We have more from the Atlantic Division:
- Joel Embiid missed his third consecutive game on Sunday afternoon due to sore left foot. The Sixers cruised past the Pistons without their star center and they’re not concerned about the injury, as Embiid is showing progress, Keith Pompey of the Philadelphia Inquirer tweets.
- Celtics center Robert Williams has been on a minutes restriction, between 17-22 minutes, since returning from a knee injury. The restriction has apparently been lifted and Williams says he’s ready to play more, Jared Weiss of The Athletic writes. “I’m here for whatever. Obviously, they’re trying to be careful and make the smart decision. If the guys are out there rolling, they’re rolling,” Williams said. “I enjoy playing the game. Coming off the bench, I feel like I’ve been able to be decisive on where we need to insert energy.”
- Nets big man Nic Claxton believes the team already has all the pieces in place to win a championship, according to Sharif Phillips-Keaton of Yahoo Sports. “Everybody, especially earlier in the season, ‘Oh, they need this, they need a big, they need that,’ but we have everything we need when everybody is on the court, locked in, and we’re all scrambling, playing hard,” he said.
FVV fumbling the bag here. Who else is giving him that much at age 30? Don’t be Dennis Schroder.
Word
His hold out is for $4M a year, which is $2M after tax, seems like a massive gamble for a small amt relative to what was offered.
What are all these NBA players locked in? Jail?
“All the boys have been working hard, and god willing we can come out with a win tonight”
At least the cliche’s of yesteryear were sentences. Now its just: locked in
@XMAXX That was a really intelligent comment you just made. I’m sure that once you posted it, you were truly satisfied with what your brain activity was able to come up with.
Furthermore, what does Claxton believe when he says his team is scrambling? Does he think they are eggs? What’s scrambling? Oh these players and their incredibly creative language! Where do they come up with this stuff?
Well, considering you clipped his quote, of course it isn’t a sentence…“Everybody, especially earlier in the season, ‘Oh, they need this, they need a big, they need that,’ but we have everything we need when everybody is on the court, locked in, and we’re all scrambling, playing hard,” he said.
It’s a verbal quote, if you have an issue with the commas or structure, you should complain to the author. It is very clearly a sentence. Locked in, as in focus, has been around sports for decades. It’s not new. At least it gave you an opportunity to spew your ignorance on the internet. You must be satisfied and should feel accomplished. I am proud of you
Attractive trade idea
Pistons get 2 future Firsts and Joe Harris
Nets get Bogdanovic
Nets have 2 76ers future Firsts
2023 first-round pick (unprotected)
2027 or 2028 first-round pick (top 8 protected)
Joe Harris have only 1-year contract remaining after this season.
Nets have 5 shooters to finish the game
Bogdanovic
Warren
Durant
Irving
Curry or Mills
2023 pick was traded for Royce O’Neal in the summer, Nets only have 1 pick left
Defensive players
Ben Simmons
O’Neale
Claxton
Claxton talking to much.
A week or two ago it was I should be in the DPO conversation. Now it’s we don’t need anything we have it all here.
Man must have his confidence up after 1 good win today against the bulls. Before that they scrapped past the Pelicans without Ingram and Zion and before that got smacked by the bulls. Last game I watched of there’s was the bulls one when Claxton and the nets got killed on the glass. Among the starters it was 27 vs 39 rebounds. It’s like the bulls had an extra centre on the floor the way they were getting it done.
Don’t believe me, Brooklyn rank second to last in the league in rebounds per game.
Claxton needs to do less talking and more work on the glass. You already play in a big city, you don’t need to bring praise to yourself your game will do that itself if it’s warranted.
You’re right. They do need rebounders. KD is always getting bullied in the paint when he tries to box-out. It’s honestly hilarious. Claxton does hold his own in terms of rebounding, but he does need to build more muscle. I think they should still make a trade for either Richaun Holmes or Miles Turner.
So now we have both Tatum & Timelord agreeing Timelord should play more minutes, aka starting, we’re see how Coach handles things. Go Celtics!
