Kings center Domantas Sabonis and Knicks guard Jalen Brunson have been named the NBA’s players of the week, the league announced (Twitter link).
Sabonis, the NBA’s leading rebounder at 12.6 per game, played a major role in Sacramento’s 4-0 week and averaged a triple-double in the process, posting 18.5 points, 14.3 rebounds and 10.3 assists in the four victories. Despite playing with a heavily taped right hand due to an avulsion fracture in his thumb, the two-time All-Star has led the Kings to a 24-18 record, the No. 4 seed in the West.
Brunson led New York to a 3-1 week while averaging 34.8 points, 5.8 rebounds and 5.0 assists on a sparkling .516/.500/.971 shooting slash line. The 26-year-old has a strong case to be an All-Star for the first time in 2022/23. Through 41 games, he’s averaging 22.3 points, 3.6 rebounds, 6.4 assists and 1.0 steal on .474/.396/.857 shooting and has been the team’s closer in crunch time. The Knicks are currently 25-19, the No. 6 seed in the East.
According to the NBA (Twitter link), the other nominees in the West were Harrison Barnes, Josh Giddey, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Nikola Jokic, Damian Lillard and Ja Morant, while Joel Embiid, James Harden, Julius Randle, Jayson Tatum and Gabe Vincent were nominated in the East.
OverPaid and a Bust ………
How are all you Geniuses and Haters feeling now. Jalen says smell my shorts. Smell what winning smells like ……….

When will all the clowns here. Learn this game. Get ready for our next trade. I’m sure you will love to hate it too. 25-19 …… geniuses
I’m happy for you.!
Knicker , you say “learn this game”, get ready for our next trade. Im sure you will love to hate it too”…… when u say “next trade” and “hate it too” which previous or original trade are you referring too?
The haters and ignorant posters here. Who just know it all about the Knicks. Since they obviously don’t watch them. And just got nothing to say.
A trade is a move. I’m referring to Knick moves. Jalen was a move. Signing our FA were moves. Stockpiling picks is a move. Going for DM was a move. So now since we didn’t get DM. Which I’m good with. And have explained it here many times. The trade is coming. If a star that fits us like a 2 or 3. I think we will trade. If not we will go for depth. Imo Knicks will make a trade. I just hope it’s one I like. Knicks will do something by TD. Is what Im saying.
And to all you Buffoons that now are HIDING.
Knicks are 25-20 and laughing at you every day. Learn the game. So you can learn to stop Hating ……
I said the same thing Big Al. I remember when we signed Jalen Brunson everyone including Knicks fans said we overpaid on this smooth cat who has ice water in his veins. Like you said Joke is on them now because Brunson has been worth every penny and some. This contract is now looking like a steal. But as far as the next trade the jury is still out on Leon Rose who hasn’t made no impactful trades since the trade of D Rose. Leon Rose has actually been too cheap that’s why we lost out on Donovan Mitchell and Dajuntae Murray both guys we could have had via trades. I totally agree with you on Brunson but the jury is still out on Leon Rose who has been asleep at the wheel when All Star talent has been available via trades. Im sick of hearing able all these first round picks we have time to start trading them for bonafide talent instead of hoarding them like Leon Rose has been doing. But agreed Jalen Brunson is the engine that runs this team and he has been a God sent calming effect on this team.
@KnickbockerAI so let me get this straight, you would rather have Jalen Brunson (Missed 2 free throws in the clutch to lose about a week or 2 ago) over Donovan Mitchell who the Knicks could of gotten but instead went for Brunson? Mediocre Knicks, won’t win anything with a bunch of overpaid slightly above average players
@LFGMets The plan wasn’t to get Mitchell or Brunson. The plan was to get both and they could have had both but they messed around worrying about all their protected 1sts.
@LFGMets: If the choice was Jalen Brunson, who cost the Knicks only money, or Donovan Mitchell, who would have cost five (or more) 1st round picks *and* a lot of money, I think the choice is obvious.
Knicks would not be a championship team either way, so I would rather have Brunson and the picks.
Why would you need to explain that. Obviously he doesn’t care about basketball. Still a rebuild bro.
First we couldn’t have gotten anyone. Were you in the room ……
They got less than they asked from us. Plus Brunson and Mitchell is not the best pairing. We didn’t give up anything for Brunson. What part of that do you need explained.
I wanted DM. But not at that price. Wasn’t big on Brunson. But I am now. He’s solid and we got him for Nothing. And now we can still go after a big name.
86 Mets were built thru draft and trades. These Knicks are being built thru draft and trades. It’s called a true rebuild. One day the casual fan will realize and respect that.
Not really sure who you’re talking to. Brunson is a good player who deserved his contract. He isn’t going to move the needle a WHOLE lot though. Same with Sabonis. Both the Knicks and the Kings should be happy to be moving in the right direction though.
To all the geniuses and haters on this syte …..
They know who they are.
I think they just hate you.
Ahhhhwwwww ….. LIGAF
This is for Knick fans. And folks who care about Balling. If you actually watched the Knicks. You’d know Randle has to go.
Raptors 123 – Knicks 121 in OT today
Jalen had 2 ast. Knicks as a team had 17 ast. Raptors had 27 ast. Knicks were up at home 6. With 2 mins to play. And gave it away.
Thibs has NO offense. All they run is isolation. It’s RJ or Jalen or mostly Randle. Raptors just played good team D. And doubled when they needed. This is why Randle must go. The iso days are over. We need team offense. Playing Obi instead of Randle will give us that. Knicks ast ratio is worst in NBA. I have always supported Thibs. But this team offense is non existent. Randle is a ball stopper. Jalen is trying hero ball like Luka showed him. This offense is boring.
Thibs better watch his back. This can’t last much longer.
Knicks have been playing pretty well over the last month or so, but closing out games has been a season-long problem for them. No lead is safe.
Ya sure they have? LMAO! Just look at who they beat? All teams that have worst records then they do. Just another fake positive when it concerns the Knicks!
This excatly who I’m talking about ……
Uniformed hater —- LMAO is all the knowledge they got the game. Makes you wonder why they even come here.
LMAO that’s how you get better. Become a good team. By beating teams you should beat. All part of growing and rebuilding.
And yet of the 25 wins. We have beat Pacers, Sixers, TWolves, Jazz, Nuggets, Thunder, Cavs, Hawks, Warriors, Kings, Bulls, Suns, Raptors all playing for playoffs.
So clown …… let me explain Basketball to you. You gotta make, that’s MAKE the playoffs. Before you can beat anyone.
Knicks are half way thru year 3 of rebuild.
What year are you in trying to understand this game ????
If you watched that Raptor gm. You can see why they have that problem. And it’s Randle and Thibs offense. Imo Thibs has failed Fournier. His scoring is what we need. If Thibs hates his D so much. Why not teach him enough so he can play. Cause we need his shooting and his scoring. He could have spent all summer doing it.
