Moses Moody, the 14th overall pick of the 2021 draft, has been assigned to the Warriors‘ G League affiliate in Santa Cruz, the team announced (via Twitter).
Still just 20 years old, the second-year wing has struggled to land a regular spot in head coach Steve Kerr‘s rotation this season. He did not play at all in three of the last four games, so obviously the Warriors want him to get more reps in.
Through 39 games (14.8 MPG), Moody is averaging 5.2 PPG and 1.7 RPG on .452/.367/.703 shooting. The former lottery pick made 10 total appearances (Showcase Cup, regular season and postseason) with Santa Cruz as a rookie, but this is his first G League stint during the 2022/23 season.
After defeating Memphis on Wednesday night, the defending champions are now 24-24, the No. 8 seed in the West.
Moody has some pretty great potential, but he’s got some weaknesses to work on as well. Hopefully he spends some time trying to rebound and play defense in areas other than the 3pt line. It’s weird how much his defense has declined this year, given that he was quite good last year.
He has been ok defensively in appearances recently, but still makes mistakes. It is his driving into nowhere that gets him into trouble and puts him at the back of the bench.
Also guard min are hard to come by right now where he isnt getting min over Curry/Poole/Donte/Klay/Wigs/Kuminga and Lamb is eating his min right now with better defense and better 3pt shooting in his rotation spot. If they dont convert Lamb he is running out of games so Moody could see more action.
Moody has the potential to be a solid rotational player but this idea that he is a great/star level talent is nonsense. One notorious clown on this forum even called him a young Kawhi Leonard. Steve Kerr last year said he saw him as a Trevor Ariza type player…in other words, solid but not a star. There is not a thing Moody has athletically or skill wise that makes him the potential star that some fans seem to think.
This season
Warriors management is bad, bad, bad
Get rid of management
Do nothing and get big pay
Frustration post
Warriors FO is the very best !
Sillivan, all your posts are frustration posts. You don’t need to denote this specific post as one. It’s implied.
For a rare occasion I kinda agree with Silli. Tiniest bit of agreement, like a grain of sand on a beach.
This year, GSW haven’t been their usual self in the FO.
Happy they rewarded Wiggins who was arguably best player in the off season LY. Over pay for Poole though, just over pay. Pure and simple.
Refusal to replace role vets who were crucial LY, under utilisation of good youth in Kuminga, Moody and Baldwin. Over usage of Lamb(less so FO, but he dont deserve 20+mins on a tank team, let alone in that team). Still refusal to move wiseman who Kerr is clearly not sold on, and still fail to address the issues at the 5.
I’m not saying they’re the worst or get rid. But it has been well below Warriors standards of FO this year and with their poor away record. (Only Hou, SAS &ORL…like wow) you’d expect them to do something to address. And if they let Dray go for nothing that’s cold. He deserves more respect than that. Even just pay the guy then move him if you don’t want him long term, a lot of teams would pay up.
yes! lets get rid of management! that will make everything better…..
Trade Wiseman, Donte D and J Green and cash to Detroit for Bogdanovic and Duren. Gives the warriors a player who is hot and another weapon. Gives them a young rebuilding team. PG. Rollins SG. Moody SF. Baldwin PF. Kumminga C. Duren. With Poole leading the way off the bench.
Yet another young guy who the Warriors simps in the national media want to be good, but just isn’t. Even Poole isn’t all he’s cracked up to be. Got so overrated last year.
