A return to the floor for Suns starting power forward Cameron Johnson appears to be imminent, reports Duane Rankin of The Arizona Republic. Johnson has been sidelined for Phoenix since November 4 with a torn right meniscus that required surgery.
“Just sometime when I get back from the [team’s just-wrapped road trip], but I feel pretty good,” Johnson said when asked about his return timeline. “Taking it one day at a time right now, but I’m looking forward to getting back soon, very soon.”
In his eight healthy games this year, Johnson has averaged 13.0 PPG, 3.4 RPG, 1.8 APG and 1.1 SPG. The Suns have gone 15-21 since Johnson’s injury, though other major absences to Phoenix players have played a role in that record, too.
There’s more out of the Pacific Division:
- Suns reserve point guard Cameron Payne is set to have his right foot sprain reassessed later in January, Rankin notes (Twitter link). “I haven’t started doing anything,” Payne said. “I think [Monday] when I get back into Phoenix, we should be doing our next checkups and check off a few things for me to get back on the court.” Payne has played just twice since December 13.
- Injured Clippers star forward Paul George has been cleared for full team practices, but head coach Tyronn Lue is unsure of an exact timeline for his return to the floor, tweets Ohm Youngmisuk of ESPN.
- All-Star Lakers forward LeBron James took to social media today to register his discontent about what he sees as inconsistent game officiating. “And all year they keep telling me to my face on the court, ‘I didn’t see it’ or ‘It wasn’t a [foul],'” James tweeted. “It’s not making sense to me seriously! Frustrating as hell man! Anyways keep going Squad!” James seemed particularly upset during L.A.’s two latest losses, to the Mavericks on Thursday and the Sixers Sunday.
As of today
Suns 12th seed
Lakers 13th seed
Honestly I want to see Suns and Lakers to make playoffs
I don’t want to see Jazz, Blazers and Wolves
You should be fine bc that’s exactly what the NBA wants also.
Lol Funny and true
Then don’t watch those games.
I watch NBA TV
3 quarters
Lakers and Rockets score 200 points
Nobody plays defense
Nobody
Let’s talk about the 20 points, 21 rebounds and 2 blocks that Walker Kessler just dropped on Minnesota and Gobert (played 5 minutes).
We are now quite possibly talking about the worst trade in NBA history.
All those 1st round picks + Vanderbilt, Beasley and Beverley. When all you had to do for extra rebounding and rim protection was keep the guy you drafted, Walker Kessler.
Utah, who is supposed to be rebuilding, has a 23-24 record. Minnesota, which spent the whole offseason talking about winning a title, is 22-23.
Definately an over payment from the Timberwolves… But still a valuable asset…if Gobert played out the game…we would not be seeing those stats for Kessler
If Gobert only played 5 minutes then Kessler didn’t drop 20 and 21 on him.
Huh? Sure the T-Wolves talked about winning a title. Connelly talked long term though. They wanted to fix their D. Utah made a living by chasing opponents off the 3 pt line and funneling opposing guards to Gobert. Minnesota doesn’t have anyone that does that though. That’s not Gobert’s fault. Towns has been injured while Edwards and Russell seem more worried about stuffing the stat sheet tham winning basketball games.
The game he had against Luka Garza and Nate Knight?
Yeah he really dominated two g league guys.
Kessler would have had the same game against Gobert. Remember 2 weeks ago when Adebayo was out for Miami? Highsmith, fresh out the G League, completely, and I mean completely dominated Gobert.
Gobert has made a defensive difference against NOBODY this year. He is now in decline.
Delusional.
Gobert is 7th in the league in def rtg this season with little defensive help on his team (Twolves are 13th in def rtg).
12/9 Wolves v Jazz
Rudy 21/13
Kessler 7/6 points and boards
So…. I guess you’re wrong.
Imagine if Tim Connelly had traded for Donovan Mitchell (Cleveland paid far less for him that what Gobert fetched) instead of Gobert. D’Angelo Russell would have to be in the deal.
Donovan Mitchell, Anthony Edwards and KAT. Would a better offensive trio exist in the NBA??? Still have Jarryd Vanderbilt as a starter. Kessler would be coming off the bench, still rebounding and averaging 2 blocks per game.
Tim Connelly went all in on an aging Rudy Gobert. Fire this man now.
Imagine if Connelly had traded for Mitchell? The Wolves would have Mitchell, Towns and a wannabe Mitchell and there would still be no perimeter D.
Wolves gave him minority ownership stake so he really can’t get fired. Add insult to injury.
I mean there’s like 6-8 teams underperforming in the west , why pile on Minnesota ? they are like 3 games outta 4 th place – still think they have their best stretch ahead of them , they haven’t been healthy all year really
A slow start should have been expected
I’d wait a year to at least before putting a stamp on this trade
LaBron sucks! He is not winning so he is whining! He said,”He is a winner!”. News flash LaBron, you only win when your teams are stacked! LaBron is a loser!
Yeah, the whining is getting old, and idk how he thinks he can get away with this post on social media without getting fined!?!
Well, he SHOULD get fined anyways, coaches cannot even mention the officiating in press conferences without getting fined, so a blatant, derogatory post for the world to see should easily trigger a few thousand.
He’s always received the benefit of the doubt on calls, yet he’s consistently complained over and over throughout the years…
At this point, it just continues to make him look like a whiner and a complainer when things aren’t going his way..
You should be better than that LeBron, come on now..
If the league comes out the next day and straight up says the refs blew it…7 times in 2 minutes, then he has every right to complain.
No, it does not matter if they blew twenty calls, he is still just a player, you let your coach handle those battles.
The only reason he is saying it, instead of letting his coach handle it, is because he thinks he’s more important, so his message will draw more publicity. LeBron also clearly doesn’t think he is going to have to face any kind of backlash from the league for his.
I’ll chock this up as another typical ‘LeBron sucks’ post. Got it.
No one is saying he sucks, he’s one of the best to ever do it. It’s just the complaining and whining gets old..
Just like with Harden and Paul, especially during their time together in Houston. It was nearly unwatchable they’d complain so often!!
Does that mean they suck too?? No, just no one wants to hear it. Refs miss calls regularly, does that make it right?? No it doesn’t, but human error is a part of the game.
LBJ gets less calls than any star in the NBA since Shaq – this is pretty common knowledge by those who watch games nightly
If you watched the mavs abd Philly games you’d see what he was talking about – pretty brutal calls against LAl in both late
Well, considering how often he handles the ball, he stands a much higher chance of receiving questionable calls, just like every other ball dominant player on their team.
Refs miss calls each and every night. Either you can focus on their ineptitude, or you can just do your best to control what you can control…
Besides, does he think calling the refs out publicly is going to do him any favors?
That’s why you let your coach do the complaining, and you keep your mouth shut.
Besides, no one likes a complainer and a whiner, and that goes double for someone who has notoriously received preferential treatment on the court for the majority of his career.
LeBron, is one of the best to ever step on a court, and he knows more about the game than most coaches, but he’s fighting a losing battle.
Preferential treatment ?
I disagree and so do most that watch, the Tnt crew said after the Mavs game he gets the least calls of any star since SHaq , I , along with many others have been sayin the same fjr awhile now
I can agree w bits and pieces of the rest of your comment but I think your. Far off on that

The ref issue is easily fixed…
Put 2 extra refs in every arena but have them watch footage of close calls… And most importantly give them the power to over rule the on court referee…
Then we will get the correct call 99% of the time and not 60-70%…
100% agree. I honestly thought that’s what the replay center was going to do, but the referees are still terrible.
Embiid’s arm grab was blatant, and the last 2 minute report saying the no-call was “correct” is a joke.
Mavs game was worse in many regards
But spoiled milk
