The Wizards have engaged in trade discusions with multiple teams about potential deals that would include forward Rui Hachimura, according to Shams Charania and Josh Robbins of The Athletic.
While Charania and Robbins don’t offer specifics on which teams have talked to Washington about Hachimura, The Athletic’s duo says the 24-year-old has drawn interest from “several Western Conference teams in need of scoring.” The Suns are one team that fits that bill and have been previously linked to Hachimura.
Another Wizards forward, Kyle Kuzma, continues to generate interest around the league, but Washington values him highly and would like to hang onto him, per Charania and Robbins.
Kuzma, Hachimura, and Kristaps Porzingis are all eligible for free agency during the 2023 offseason, so if the Wizards were to trade Hachimura, it would put them in a better position to focus on bringing back the other two. It may also signal a level of confidence in their ability to re-sign Kuzma, The Athletic’s reporters note, since trading Hachimura and then losing Kuzma in free agency would significantly deplete the club’s forward depth.
The ninth overall pick in the 2019 draft, Hachimura has missed some time due to injury this season, but has played well when available, averaging 12.9 PPG and 4.4 RPG on .492/.346/.768 shooting in 28 games (24.2 MPG). He’s earning approximately $6.26MM this season and will become a restricted free agent in July, assuming his team issues a qualifying offer that will likely be worth about $7.74MM.
Should Suns take more and more expiring contracts like Rui?
Thunder should get him.
I would guess
The asking price is two 2nd round picks
Lakers, Please do it
Rui is better than Reddish.
No way the Wizards trade Rui for 2 2nd round picks. Definitely take a 1st or a solid player.
Suns: Rui,Porzingis and Taj gibson
Wizards: DeAndre Anyton, jae crowder and 1st rounder
No, no and no.
Why tho? Looks like a good fit all around.
Finally the first thing which makes some sense coming from this franchise.
Kuzma Rui and Ko all to hit FA. Apparently they love Kuz Beal and KP and what that to be their big 3 so it makes sense to trade the odd one out while he has some value after good run of games.
Not that I think Beal Kuz and KP are worth keeping and building around but atleast they know paying good money to keep Rui makes little to no sense if your also paying Kuz and KP.
I’m not sure now available he is but I’d seriously look into Daivon Mitchell. Think he’s the kinda guy you want playing off 3 ball dominate scorers. He can hold his own offensively while being a real threat defensively. In combination with Monte Morris who provides more of a offensive minded skill set, I think the two of them could share the point guard role and do really well together
Not sure how much interest the Kings would have in Rui but I think they’d atleast have a little he seems like there kind of guy. Not to mention they had interest in Tobias Harris and more recently in Kyle Kuzma. Think no doubt the wizards would have to give up a little bit extra but it’s the deal I’d be looking to make.
Rui Hachimura would be a perfect fit for the Celtics. He could backup Tatum or Horford and he’s a consistent scorer (13 pts per game career average). Low risk high reward.
Trade kuzma over rui, Kuzma is not worth 24m
Rui could be a potential steal for whichever team that acquired him.
In the right system, Rui can flourish with the skills he offers. I just hope he gets more of a chance to play and develop his skills.
Of course, he will also have to stay healthy to ever truly reach his potential, so that will likely be the biggest factor…
I heard Charlotte is shopping Rozier. I think Rui is a good fit for the Hornets inexchange for Rozier coz Wizards need another PG.
