Addressing reports that the Suns were willing to trade him in a package to the Nets for Kyrie Irving, Chris Paul took the news like a pro, Duane Rankin of the Arizona Republic tweets.
Paul knows all about being traded, so he didn’t seem blindsided by the news.
“It’s a business. I’ve seen crazier,” he said. “The way I found out I was traded from Houston. You just show up to work and be a pro day in and day out. Nobody’s exempt from being traded. Find out just like everybody else.”
Coach Monty Williams expressed disappointment that the future Hall of Famer has to deal with these rumors and reports at this stage of his career, Rankin adds in another tweet.
“I don’t think it’s fair when guys have their names thrown out there,” Williams said. “Kind of bothers me, ’cause Chris, his name should never be thrown out there in that way.”
We have more Pacific Division news:
- While they may have struck out for Irving, the Suns are prepared to make another offer to Brooklyn if Kevin Durant becomes available, Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports tweets. It’s unknown just what Phoenix would be willing to part with for Durant, but The Arizona Republic’s Jeremy Cluff cobbles up some speculative pieces around the Internet that suggest Deandre Ayton would likely be part of the package.
- LeBron James expressed disappointment that the Lakers were unable to land Irving, he told ESPN’s Michael Wilbon (hat tip to Rachel Nichols). “Definitely disappointed. I can’t sit here and say I’m not disappointed on not being able to land someone…I’ve got great chemistry on the floor with, that can help you win championships,” James said.
- Lakers coach Darvin Ham said that Russell Westbrook just needs to do his work as trade rumors continue to swirl around him, Mark Medina of NBA.com tweets. “This is an unforgiving business in terms of different coverage and in terms of covering scenarios and dealing with rumors and different things happening,” Ham said. “All you can do is put your head down and do the work and try to remain as professional as possible. He’s done that.”
Is it clear that LeBron wants to divorce Westbrook?
And in this case, the problem isn’t the marriage. The problem is that Westbrook stopped doing the things he used to do when they were dating
LeBron said
“Definitely disappointed. I can’t sit here and say I’m not disappointed on not being able to land someone…I’ve got great chemistry on the floor with, that can help you win championships,”
What LeBron said has nothing to do with Westbrook.
Do you work in the American news media or are you a TV late night comedian?
Are you saying the Lakers need marriage counseling?
Sillivan this is actually a great comment…which is weird to me because I can’t stop laughing. But I’m laughing with you, not at you for once.
LeBron is a spoiled baby. He is the reason why the Laker roster is a mess. LeBron is the reason why Westbrook is in L.A. LeBron got that deal done. Where are all of the Lakers draft picks??? LeBron decided that Anthony Davis was who he was gonna play with, and that Kuzma was a better fit than Brandon Ingram. LeBron did this. Now this guy is complaining because the team didn’t get Kyrie, and all the issues that it brings??
Same way that Bronny is on the McDonald’s All-American team. The kid is not that good. He is not even a Top 100 player nationally if evaluated on ability and not name. A joke. A deserving kid sits home because LeBron wanted Bronny in the game. Same way that Bronny will play in the NBA despite not nearly being close to good enough. Same way that LeBron wants to own a franchise in Las Vegas that doesn’t exist …. Yet.
I disagree with Monty Williams.
Everything is business. Business has no sense and no feeling. There is nothing to do with fairness.
It doesn’t matter how sacrificed Westbrook and Paul have been. They are on the trade market.
There is no such thing as a marriage. There is such thing as a business
You’re like a modern day Rimbaud.
Monty Williams was doing what he was supposed to do here. His job as head coach is to be 100% behind his “guy”, and to make a statement that takes a jab at the front office. Monty can now turn this into a positive. It’s us (the team) against them (front office). Thib’s was masterful doing this with the Jimmy Butler and the Bulls.
“Cool guy! Great ideas!”
– Mr. Burns
Idk what he’s saying App but it’s better content than the usual so I’ll take it
Every time LeBron makes a comment about wanting a all star on his team the more he looks like a prima donna. LeBron should just say nothing. He got AD to come to LA so he got what he wanted. He got Westbrook too. Now he wants somebody else. Its just annoying now.
Why wouldn’t you want your team to obtain good players if they’re available ?
Ask stupid questions you get stupid answers.
ARC 2;
LeBron’s history is that he can’t win without a number of All-Star players around him…..and usually he can’t with with them.
He politics and colludes to get those players on his team.
He built his mystique like a marketing guy. There were at least 25 players in NBA history that were far better than him. Probably over 50.
Bold statement. How do you prove that outside of statistics, which among other things will have him passing Kareem’s scoring record? LeBron still holds the record for being the youngest to have back-to-back 40-point games after Cam Thomas jumped into second with his feat and LeBron’s still playing at that level now. Yes, that by itself doesn’t show he’s one of the top players ever, but I don’t know that anyone could name 50 players that are/were demonstrably better with stats to back them up.
Somehow I don’t think LeBron cares if he annoys you.
The way Cam Thomas is playing KD is expendable.
You jack up 30 shots a game some of em are gonna go in.
Love to see go 15-29 in church league. Cam is good!
If he gets 9+ FGAs a game going forward hell be a 15 to 20ppg scorer.
Dinwiddie takes a lot of shots too tho. Expect him to take 12-16 per game.
DFS will eat up shots tho too.
29 shots Ronald McDonald.
Oh, you sure got me there. What a couple of zingers.
CP3 is so expendable they offered him for Kyrie…
