The Pistons and Warriors have engaged in discussions about a possible trade that would involve forward Saddiq Bey and center James Wiseman, reports Jake Fischer of Yahoo Sports (Twitter link).
According to Fischer, Golden State has shown an increased willingness to move Wiseman and Detroit has interest in the former No. 2 overall pick — he was atop the Pistons’ draft board in 2020, notes Omari Sankofa II of The Detroit Free Press (Twitter link).
Still, both Sankofa and James L. Edwards III of The Athletic (Twitter links) say that no deal appears imminent between the Warriors and Pistons, so the talks may not ultimately bear fruit. According to Fischer (Twitter link), Golden State may be weighing an offer from Detroit against other trade opportunities.
Here are a few more trade rumors from around the NBA, with the deadline less than two hours away:
- According to Kelly Iko of The Athletic (Twitter link), the Rockets are among the teams that have kicked the tires on Mikal Bridges and Cameron Johnson, who are headed to the Nets as part of the Kevin Durant trade. However, Jake Fischer of Yahoo Sports (Twitter link) has heard that Brooklyn intends to hang onto Bridges through Thursday’s trade deadline.
- The Pacers are among the teams to register interest for Knicks forward Obi Toppin, while the Kings are among the teams to have inquired about point guard Derrick Rose, says Ian Begley of SNY.tv. The asking price for Toppin is substantial, according to Begley.
- The Cavaliers have informed veteran wing Caris LeVert that he won’t be traded before Thursday’s deadline, according to Matt Moore of Action Network.
- Moore also reports that the Pelicans, Grizzlies, and Knicks have made offers for Raptors forward OG Anunoby that include multiple draft picks. There has been internal debate within the Knicks organization about whether to include Immanuel Quickley in any trade offers, including for Anunoby, Moore writes.
- Both Brian Smith and Jonathan Feigen of The Houston Chronicle (Twitter links) have heard rumblings about the increasing likelihood that Rockets shooting guard Eric Gordon will be on the move today. Moore reported that there’s skepticism around the league about Houston’s ability to get a first-round pick for Gordon.
I don’t know why the Pistons would want Wiseman when they already have a glut of big guys. Duren is already better than Wiseman.
Duren, Stewart, Bagley and Nerlens already on the Pistons roster. Seems odd they would have Interest. I think only Nerlens is a pending free agent.
They’re very different types of bigs. Wiseman is a post scorer. Duren is extremely athletic but limited as a scorer compared to Wiseman. Wiseman/Bagley/Stewart/Duren is an extremely talented young frontcourt that Detroit can build with tho
The reference to Wiseman makes noooooooooooo!!! sense with Duren being there.
Bey doesn’t play good defense so why would the GSW want another bad defensive player? They already have a few bad defensive players on the team. Bey would only be a bench guy for the terrible defensive bench team.
I think the move would save the GSW a huge chunk of luxury tax money. The reason they are really pushing to trade Wiseman.
The reason they want to trade James Wiseman is cuz he’s not in their plans. He’s had three years and it’s not fair to the kid but it’s reality. Let him try somewhere else. Has nothing to do with luxury tax. If he was a player they would keep him.
Trade for needs or recoup a draft pick for him not more of the same problems. Bob Meyers has only made 1 good trade in the last 5 years so I have lost faith in him.
they are not worried about luxury tax. Warriors problem all season been poor defense off the bench.
Sad day
Sometimes you have to cut loss for greater good
Please, Sacramento we don’t need old man Rose. Get some defense.
Will EG see a new home. I feel for him having to be a leader for this team. At times think the other players just tune him out. I would love him to finish somewhere he can really feel a part and get to playoffs and maybe further. Plus hope new coach for rockets in off season
So if the Raptors trade OG, it’ll be because someone wants to overpay.
Of the 3 teams mentioned, I think the Knicks are the most desperate of those teams listed, are more likely to make an overpay and are most likely to flop in the future meaning their picks will likely be of most value.
It also increases the odds of OG returning to Toronto afterwards as he’s not staying in NY.
Only Athletes that like NY are baseball players apparently.
does 2 1st and Quickley do it?
I hope the Raptors would do that in a minute…I like the strategy, they are good enough to at least give it a shot in the playoffs, Jacob will really help them. Quickly for Flynn would work too..
Grimes and Quickley would likely have to be in it, plus at least 2 picks, maybe 2 and a 2nd, and another player. Not really worth thinking about b/c Torpnto shouldnt be trading Anunoby anyway, unless it’s for a really significant amount. He wasnt included for KD lol
No. Ujiri was said to want at least 3 1sts in TO newspapers a week or two ago as a starting point.
OG can start at SG and can guard Morant, he can start at SF and guard LeBron and switch off to AD, He’s able to start at C and guard Giannis if asked. And guard all of those folks better than anyone else in the league
He’s got ice in his veins, isn’t afraid to shoot, been getting better year over year, fully recovered from his knee injury he’s gained confidence and now thinks he can be the top dog on offense too
I think he can be the 2nd or 3rd option sure, but not the first.
That being said, a borderline #2 and certain #3, Who’s also the best defender since Kawahi. Is worth something that’s going to hurt alot.
I think that’s why he’s not getting traded for anything less than what Sun’s parted with for Durant. And that likely means be stays and gets paid next year by Toronto.
We would just be looking to replace him in a year or two anyway, you don’t know what you got till it’s gone
u Toronto fans overrate your players . OG is not much of an offensive threat. I will pay for that BIG YELOW Taxi to get him out of Toronto (You don’t know what you got till it’s gone). 40 minutes to the deadline and OG is still on the board…
No. Overvalued would be FVV for 3 FRP or Trent for something ridiculous
OG isn’t going to be Iverson or Anything like that with the Ball, but he’s no longer the ISO black hole he was a couple seasons ago, he’s a pretty damn good shooter plus gets alot of Garbage points, not to be confused with Garbage minutes. Those Garbage points 6 or 8 a game are points stars aren’t giving you. 3rd and 4th try rebounds underneath, diving on the floor for the 5050 balls.
I saw someone say his steals are just because ge cheats the ball too. Then when are his other defensive stats still just as good.
OG is that guy every championship team wants and needs. Toronto isn’t Overvaluing him at all.
DRose, Fournier, Obi & 4 future 1sts to Chicago for Zach & (Mt Vernon legend) Drummond
Any team without a clear starter at the 4 spot would do well to kick the tires on Toppin. He’s ready to take a step, but with Randle becoming more entrenched, NYK can’t get him more than 15 mpg, and he really needs more than that to show his talent. It’s tricky for the NYK because he’s in the rotation and there isn’t a clear successor for the minutes he is getting currently on the roster. So maybe he stays.
That would be godlike for GS
Houston looking at those guys would have made sense, but I think the Nets should keep those guys, especially after moving Crowder
