Knicks guard Immanuel Quickley is quickly developing into a top-notch sixth man in the mold of Lou Williams, according to Zach Braziller of the New York Post.
Quickley, who is extension-eligible this offseason, is averaging 13.0 points, 4.0 rebounds and 3.1 assists in his third season.
“Any time you get mentioned with any great players like Lou Williams, anybody that’s won Sixth Man of the Year, it’s definitely something that’s pretty cool,” Quickley said.
We have more on the Knicks:
- Julius Randle says he’s not comfortable with load management, Stefan Bondy of the New York Dailly News tweets. “I just put way too much into my body to cheat myself out of being available for my team,” Randle said. He’s the only Knicks player to appear in every game this season.
- The Knicks are in a better position to acquire a star player than last offseason when they failed to land Donovan Mitchell, Braziller writes in a separate subscriber-only story. They have some extra draft picks and solid young players to dangle in a blockbuster deal. Karl-Anthony Towns and Anthony Davis could be possibilities, depending upon how this season plays out, Braziller speculates.
- Among the attributes Josh Hart has brought since being acquired from Portland is his ability to score in transition and his superior rebounding for a wing, Ethan Fuller of Basketball News notes.
- Jalen Brunson missed Sunday’s game at Boston due to a sore foot, the team’s PR department tweets. Coach Tom Thibodeau wasn’t sure if Brunson received an MRI but added “I don’t think it’s serious,” Braziller tweets.
I’d rather leave this team as is than swing a deal for KAT or AD.
It looks like Lou-Lou is not going to return to the NBA this year. I haven’t seen that he’s announced his retirement. He will be missed.
Mitchell Robinson is better than Towns on both sides of the ball, despite Towns’ skill in the post. He would kill the ball movement they’ve established pairing Brunson with slashers and shooters, and he’s a bad defender. Davis, however, could be a windfall if they don’t have to give up too much depth to get him.
Better than an all time shooting big on offense??? Lol ok player.
Better than an All NBA guy? Wow.
Plus you’re thinking AD will get traded for “not too much depth”. Jesus man.
“Mitchell Robinson is better than Towns on both sides of the ball, despite Towns’ skill in the post.”
I love Mitch but this is lunacy. The only things Mitch can do well on offense is finish, cut to the rim, offensive rebounds, and some screen and roll. In other words, he can only do off-ball stuff (aside from finishing, which is the result of his off-ball stuff). He can’t pass, can’t dribble, cannot shoot at all, has no post game, no creativity, and has no moves.
Which is fine, because he is not asked to do any of that for the Knicks. But to say that he’s better than KAT on the offensive side of the ball makes no sense. I mean, I don’t want KAT on the Knicks because I think it’s a bad fit, but he’s far and away better than Mitch on offense.
I’d take Kat all day. He can play and just needs the right team and motivation. The lights at the Mecca seem to change folks. I’d believe he’d be one of them.
I love Mitchy Slick but your comment is so delusional Mitch is not better than KAT. Mitch is just a better defender. Mitch still has no offense game what so ever other than putbacks and dunks. Mitch fits us perfect because we now have multiple scorer’s and shot makers around him. And hats off to Leon Rose for the moves he made and not for the ones he didn’t. I was pissed we didn’t get Donovan Mitchell but the Brunson signing has to be the best signing of this summer free agency with his play which has been contagious and culture changing for our beloved NY Knicks. And giving Randal ,Mitch extensions has paid off and his draft picks of Grimes, McBride, and IQ who has put the league on notice with his sniper and assassin attitude swag and lethal shooting this team is growing right in front of our eyes. Leon Rose plan is growing in to fruition. This team reminds me of theb1999 team that went to the finals. Let’s enjoy the ride Knicks fans.
The NYK season would have to play out pretty horribly for there to be any case for a depletion trade for AD or KAT. Both guys have demonstrated that, for multiple reasons, having them on your roster doesn’t assure any level of success.
So the same results that everyone on the Knicks and their coaching staff and FO has already proven.
I wouldn’t advise another team to deplete all its assets for any Knick player either. Not sure what you mean in regard to the coaching staff. At least the HC has had consistent success throughout his career after taking over horrible teams. Hell, he even made the playoffs with MIN, and born loser Towns as his best player. That’s close to defying gravity.
Seen a few things about KAT to NY to me it really doesn’t make any sense.
What do they give up?
Randle?
Then they have KAT at PF and we are still yet to see if he can play that role well cause for the time being with the TWolves having acquired Gobert it hasn’t been great.
Plus why move Randle anyways been been playing terrific. 25-10-4 shooting 47-36-76 that’s a career high in points per game and rebounds.
KAT is putting up 21-8-5, yes on less shots and is more efficient but still those are worse numbers.
Not to mention Randle hasn’t missed a game and can play big minutes whereas KAT has injury issues. Randle is also better defensively.
On top of that Minny will want extras be it young players and draft capital.
So take him off the table, Mitchell Robinson.
TWolves can’t possibly run Gobert and Robinson together so that’ll mean your trading one of your best players for a back up doesn’t make any sense… plus for the Knick’s it completely ruins the defence.
Not those two okay then, why even bother trading for him? You’ll be giving up a starter and extras for KAT only to drop one of your starters, which only makes you worse doesn’t it??
That deal to me just make no sense at all.
Nor would AD with his injury issues and Randle playing so well and without the big injury concerns. If your making a big trade go for OG Anunoby and buy into the potential.
As for the TWolves if your trading KAT think of a better landing spot and package than the knicks.
I’d be looking at New Orleans.
KAT for Big Val, Dyson Daniels, Trey Murphy, Temple and 2 firsts.
New Orleans with CJ Ingram Zion Herb KAT as the starters. Plus the likes of Jose Alvarado JRich Marshall and Larry Nance. Not to mention the lakers pick. That’s a extremely talented and solid side.
And for the TWolves, Conley ANT Trey Murphy McDaniels and Gobert as your starters and Daniel’s off the bench. Trade Big Val for more capital, resign Naz Reid, plus you have 2 future first to help with the ones you gave up for Gobert. Would be an extremely good defensively side with those starters, while still having good enough spacing and lots of room for development with the young guys.
Lou Williams? No matter how much IQ scores, compare someone who’s actually a good defender to Lou Williams.
Lou was never a good defender??
IQ is pretty much the best defender on the Knicks right now in spirit and statistics
I would rather target a wing as a Knicks fan someone like OG Anunoby or Bradley Beal, iSHAI
GILGEOUS-ALEXANDER if they are available .
OG or SGA all the way. Beal is too expensive and one dimensional..
Randle is a real player, if you fit you play, all that resting games is just not cool for the fans!
Knicks should target Jaylen Brown
