The NBA has confirmed that it will suspend Warriors defensive anchor Draymond Green for Golden State’s next game after he incurred his 16th technical of the season in a loss against the Clippers on Wednesday, per a league press statement (Twitter link).
Golden State’s next game is on Friday in Atlanta vs. the Hawks. Green won’t be available for that one as a result of his suspension.
As was previously noted, the league could have rescinded the suspension had it so chosen, but that won’t happen.
Players are automatically suspended for one game when they accumulate 16 technical fouls in the regular season. Green is the second player to suffer that fate this season, joining nemesis Dillon Brooks of the Grizzlies.
Green would be hit with another one-game suspension is he receives two more techs before the end of the regular season. A player’s technical foul count resets at the start of the postseason.

They should have gone harder on him and set an example. Too many small children look up to him. Now Gerri and Joey will go out and commit technical fouls to copy their hero. Makes me sick.
yes….lets go harder on him, just to set an example for kids.
I’m not a fan of players getting so many techs as I agree it’s a bad example. wouldn’t say go harder on Dray personally(but I do think him and Bane are the main issue with their attitude towards the game.)
But I would like to see stricter measures against it. Maybe lower the suspension rate to something like 5 tech make a 1gm ban another 5 a 2gm ban etc. it would stop the idiots. Most Normal players barely get tech so it should work to deter the select few from acting like trash on the court.
Amount of surprised people of this news?
Zero
I’m surprised he only has 16 technicals.
I agree that some sort of hard suspension should be handed to Draymond but I also think his coach should be more involved having a serious talk with Green. Problem with some of these athletes/players is that they make too much money – bringing TV audiences too –
Should of happened earlier in the year given how much he gets away with…
Give three s***s about Draymond, and no, he’s not setting any type of examples for kids. That stuff is done in the home. If examples aren’t set in the home, you don’t get to choose who sets examples for your kids and make them the scapegoat. Could just as easily pick some guy who doesn’t get technicals and say he’s setting an example for my kids as well.
In closing, Jordan Poole is a black hole with the basketball in his hands.
Then how come Ja is not held to the same standard? Pick one or the other.
Draymond is not my role model but a lot of kids look up to him because of the whole Shrek connection. So yeah, when he throws a tantrum it can impact everyone…think about it
