12:56pm: Wiggins plans to attend (not play) Tuesday’s game against the Thunder, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic (Twitter link). Sources tell Charania that Wiggins has been away from the team because his father has been dealing with a “serious” health problem.
11:49am: Andrew Wiggins is expected to rejoin the Warriors in the next few days, tweets ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.
Wiggins has missed 22 games while attending to a personal matter, but team officials said repeatedly that they hoped he could return before the end of the season. The front office and his teammates frequently expressed their concerns for Wiggins without providing any specifics about his situation.
Wiggins was an All-Star for the first time last season, averaging 17.2 points and 4.5 rebounds in 73 games. He has put up similar numbers this season, but has only been available for 37 contests.
Wiggins played a huge role in Golden State’s title run, bringing a strong defensive presence that has largely been missing this year. His return should help spark a Warriors team that is currently tied for fifth in the West at 41-38 and is hoping to avoid falling into the play-in tournament.
Wiggins hasn’t played since February 13, although the team said he continued to work out while he was away. He will presumably see some game action this week to help him prepare for the playoffs.
Hope his head is into the game because he is so much better when he is aggressive on offense.
I think Wiggins at his least effective is better than Lamb overall (especially on defense), it’s a huge upgrade no matter what he actually does. All Lamb’s minutes are finally going to disappear (hopefully).
Don’t be surprised if Kuminga ends up being the one with the biggest reduction in minutes.
Kuminga has earned a decent amount, and they need more min from him and Wiggins since they are short on forwards that are taller and athletic. Lamb will probably take some of DDs min as will GPII, although my guess is were nearing in on a playoff rotation with most of the rest used situationally.
Curry/Dray/Klay/Wiggins then GPII/Loon/Poole/Kuminga/DD is probably your main playoff rotation with the back 5 shuffling in order depending on opponent and then Lamb/J.Green/Moody/PBJ as deeper reserves in that order.
Rollins is done and Im not sure if they sit on Iggy until he could return around the second round or have him retire and add Ty to the roster.
They wont be adding Ty Jerome to the playoff roster, period. Quinones is better.
I’m not a big fan of Jerome but to declare Quinones is better than Jerome is absurd. Quinones has played just 1 more minute in the NBA than I have and from that large sample you have determined he is a legit NBA player? LOL
Ty Jerome is good in pick and roll which they use more in the post season is long for position and is 3rd guard insurance in case of a Curry ankle turn. LQ has played 2min career! Im sorry but Ty is the more useful depth piece if they open up Iggys spot.
Hope the Warriors heads are in the game, not just Wiggy
Hope he’s ok. Cause Dre made it sound like it was serious. GS healthy will be a tough out. But I don’t see them in no Finals this yr.
KA, your last sentence translates to you “dosee them in Finals this yr”. Do you not know what you are not saying?
I guess you don’t. Every yr there are two Finals. Conference Finals and NBA Finals.
Those with no game. Find it hard to understand……. Again No Finals. West or for the chip.
Calm down dude. You used a double negative which translated different than you intended. I was messing with you. jeez
There is an article today
Oeverpaid players
Ben Simmons
Gordon Hayward
33 years old Money Green is in the list
I read an article today with a tasty recipe for stuffed bell peppers.
Who won a ring last season
The stuffed bell peppers won a ring last season?
Draymond is a vet minimum guy now…
GSW is the only team that will pay him more than that…
Why wouldn’t you just say you are taking time away to be with your ailing father and avoid all the speculation?
Why does he have to explain himself to anyone outside the team? It’s a personal issue. Entitled much?
Imagine writing “entitled much” when you’re the most entitled poster on here, acting like its really cool and normal to hate on all Warriors posts and argue with Warriors fans with every post about them made on this site?
We all know you ONLY come in here to argue and start trouble. You bring nothing to the table. You just wanna talk smack. Never once seen you do proper analysis or do nba chatter/discourse on here. Just a reply guy or hater, nothing else. Show me where.
Go away, no one likes you.
Lol I am literally supporting a Warriors player with this post. Get a grip hunny
Because he’s an entertainer, public figure and makes zillions of dollars. We fans do have right to know up to certain extent.
We have 0 right to a players personal business
Maybe because the whole world doesn’t need to know about his dad’s health issues? It’s our (media and fans) fault for needing to know everything.
Would have been much better to be up front to begin with than have to deal with a month of rumors about your best friend banging your wife and your kids not being yours. Totally avoidable situation, and nobody would have thought less of him for stepping away to be with his dad. Such a weird way to handle it.
How can you tell another person how to deal with there business? Ignorance and entitlement?
Curry says “if they knew what was wrong they
Would fix it.” From a no ice basketball fan I can say it’s simply the behind the uneccessary back passes to nobody, the sloppy cross court passes that go out of bounds, the rushed bad shots and complete lack of defense.
Yes also agree with the posts…if it was simply a sick father, why all the secrecy? That’s a common issue that people face.
Overall, this is odd. Something is not right. Something is off. There’s no reason to be so secretive about father’s health issues. Whatever… I guess once he’s back and playing hard, we can all forget about it…. But it’s really weird to say the least. Usually, parents want them to get back to playing asap. Didnt all our parents want us to get back to school or work asap?? I guss we all respond differently, but he simply didnt want to play. Dont let Kerr, Myers, Lacob, or Warriors trios fool you. They were all not happy and wanted him back asap. Wiggins will realize getting back to his normal routine is the best remedy.
What the hell?? Who gave you the right to tell Wiggins what he is supposed to do with his life? You are making up weird crap. YOU ARE THE THE ONE THAT IS THE FOOL.
LOL.
Are you still embarassed about being so wrong about Wiseman??
How was I wrong about Wiseman? Just because he wasn’t able to get the playing time to develop with the Dubs, doesn’t mean he can’t develop into a great player…That still doesn’t answer the question. Where did you get the right to tell Wiggins what he has to do with his life?
You’re right, something wasn’t right: his dad’s health. No reason to suspect it’s anything more than that.
I hope the Warriors we’re watching the first half of the college championship game. SD State was playing exactly how the Warriors play when they lose.
